It actually says right in the 1200 mk2 manual the anti-skate should be set the same as the weight on the tone-arm. So 2g of tracking force should have a anti- skate set to 2, etc…

I respectfully disagree with the information you've given in this video. The purpose of anit-skate is to keep the tone arm / stylus from skating toward the center of the record and to keep the needle in the very center of the groove. The improper adjustment of your anti-skate will cause the needle to wear against the right side of the groove potentially causing damage to the groove and the needle.

We are saying the same thing, sir. The only difference is I'm saying improper anti-skate adjustment can wear the right or the left side of the groove depending on the amount of tracking force being applied and how compact/tight the groove of that particular record is. It can even cause the needle to jump/ramp out of the groove all together depending on the record being played.

Your intent here is to preserve the groove of the record (with actual recorded music not just 7-15 minutes of a DVS control tone) and the needle by using the anti skate to keep the needle in the center of the groove.
I think what gets lost in translation here is I’m applying the anti-skate setting/usage/theory to DJs who use DVS records and not records with actual recorded music. The theory is still the same. Thanks for chiming in!

I’m guessing you probably already know what DVS records are. Just in case, here’s DVS explained: www.digitaldjtips.com/2017/06/a-beginners-guide-to-digital-vinyl-systems/
Ok I’m done ranting. Someone’s morning coffee is clearly kicking in. All the best. 👊😎

    That’s what I thought
I’ve seen people setting the anti skating dial according to the stylus weight recommendations
And I don’t think that’s accurate. What If you have some stylus that requires let’s say 4 grams of weight.
    Nice vid. Thx for sharing.
I’ve always kept mine at 0. Unless if I know I have a record that if about to skip I set it quickly to 2 1/2 or 3. Than I set it back at 0 after I by passed the bad part of my grooves.

just one quick question...most of my vinyls are singles and ep`s ( 2 tracks per side ) - is it okay to keep anti skating at 0 `? been doing that way some time now and it works but im just worried if my plates get too much wear if antiskating is at 0 for 2 tracks per side ....i had one lp and still kept anti skating at 0 and no problems... anyway, thanks for the video Bouss

Stalker IMO a 0 anti skate setting is correct for most 12” singles.
