Thank you, I couldn't figure out how to get to the gradient in the newer version of Gimp! I've been using the program since I was 10 and last year when I got my new computer, it wasn't available on the newer Mac Os. I need to do a project today so I checked if it was updated and it was! So I feel at home again using good ole Gimp once more.
Unfortunately, the Text loses it's Anti-Aliasing with this method. Is there any way to keep the text's anti-aliasing in it's original form and updated to the new colors from the gradient?
One thing about your video that would cause me to stop viewing or not give you a thumbs is that your picture covers up what you are selecting. Would it not be best to remove your image or place it where it does not block command icons? I do enjoy your content and thanks for the effort you have put in your videos.
This is what I'm hoping to figure out as well. I went through the same procedure a couple times to get pictures with different text formatted the same way, but having to do it more than a couple times would take forever. Did you ever figure it out?
I am just so frustrated. When I try to get the letters to fill in only the border of the letters change. I have created a new layer to prevent this and it still keeps happening. I just don't know what to do.
Bro your missing some steps or they changed gimp I followed your steps to a T and it just fills the text box with the gradient not the text, and you didn't show growing , I'm confused, they must have changed gimp
you show how to apply to selection but never show how to get it off.. I cant get it to stop showing outline so not able to add the drop shadow.. pls help
I watched a couple other YT vids on gradients, and they confused the hell out of me. Yours made things so simple and easy to follow! Thanks a lot!
Thank you very much for this. I've been struggling to get my new cover's title to pop out, and the gradient and drop shadow really did the trick.
Nice and to the point. Great tutorial; showed me exactly what I was looking for. Thanks!
As always writing a comment to support the channel

Is this the stable 2.10 version or the 2.92? The title vs description is a little misleading...
how do you reuse the gradient on new text without starting from scratch?

I had this problem too. Hit Shift + Ctrl + A to deselect then you can add the drop shadow too.
@@Crabbytron you're a life saver
@@Crabbytron Helped me too all these months later. lol Thanks. Is there another way to de-select "Alpha to Selection" that you know of?
@@thequickening607 no I finally got photoshop 🤣 I haven’t used gimp in a while
Gimp is soooooooo bad compared to photoshop. I don't remember ever having to look up a tutorial for photoshop. So unintuitive it pains me
