Rory's most stable father-figure... kinda wish that they had portrayed their relationship as closer and less awkward though. She's known him her whole life, Luke is practically family to Lor and Rory.
cche16 My dear, I see your point, yet I must call this the most absurd statement I've ever heard about the character of Luke Danes. That man doesn't show love or affection?! He was like a father to Rory, whom he arranged an entire farewell party for in the series finale, basically over night. He kept the little sheet of paper in his wallet that Lorelai had given him the day they first met. He built Lorelai's dream house bottom to roof putting up with a series of spontaneous ideas. Luke took his nephew in with all his troubles and didn't even hear a simple _Thank You!_ until years later. Furthermore, Luke didn't hesitate to take responsibility for his (surprise) daughter, which was entirely his own proactive initiative. And he has also helped pretty much every member of the town and his own difficult family, never expecting much in return... simply because he's a good person. Luke even spent an entire night collecting rotten eggs for a desperate friend. - How is that not showing affection or love?! 🤔 What Luke Danes doesn't do is run around with a big fake smile, hug the hell out of everybody and act like he was bffs with the whole world to establish himself as "likeable" (as I've come to see many Americans do). However, that's no lack of love or even politeness, it's simply called authenticity, a rare and admirable character trait. How many men in your personal or professional life, that you consided affectionate, have done half of those things? It's Like Lorelai describes it in her evaluation during the custody battle _He's got so much to give!_ ... I agree that he could communicate (positive) feelings a bit more, but other than that the man got a great deal of altruism and emotional intelligence. I'd actually call Luke Danes a more caring and more reliable character than all the rest.
I don't think he was much of a father figure until Lorelai and Luke started dated and especially when they got engaged. Rory was 16. She didn't really need a father for her age AND character. she was independent. she even said the same towards Chris who is her actual father. All she needed was her mom in the end, no offense to any other characters such as lane, Richard, sookie, emily, paris, etc. I dont think she ever really saw Luke as her dad until the point that he and Lorelai got married (which took many years later). Luke is a grumpy character but does like to be helpful and be there for people he actually cares about. We see this when he is in a relationship with Lorelai and realizes his feelings for her.
chels C Not true he cared so much about Rory. He was there when she got sick as child help her tru it and was at all her birthdays and high school graduation. He was sad or worried if she was hurt or missing and overprotected over her if somebody wanted date her. He hugs her a lot and gave her his mother necklace that sha wears at her 21 birthday. He even tells Lorelai that he ses himself as father figure or father to Rory. Lorelai letter for luke in 7x12: I’m a single mother and I raised my daughter by myself. But once Luke Danes became my friend in this town, I never really felt alone. Luke and I have had our ups and downs over the years, but through it all his relationship with my daughter Rory has never changed. He’s always been there for her no matter what. He was there to celebrate her birthdays, he was there cheering her on at her high school graduation. Luke has been a sort of father figure in my daughter’s life.
Seriously!! Rory/Alexis was always pretty, but the straight hair made her look just divine. Actually straight hair suits a lot of people. I don't understand how there are people who hate it.
A good man makes the most difference in the world, Luke was a father figure to Jess, to Rory and later to his own kid! He knows how to put people in line and how to be lovable and kind, he has morals and loyalty and is always ready to work hard despite hardships of life.
Just thought about if she had gone to Harvard, we wouldn't have had to deal with the Huntzburger family! Rory probably wouldn't have a criminal record! Too bad they can't go back in time and add that to the pro column for Harvard.
Elizabeth Darvell but Harvard wouldn’t be the same. She would’ve had to drive over 2 hours to go to Stars Hollow. Difficult to have many moments she had (like the day when she went home to study because some guy “stole” “her” tree). Yale was under one hour away.
Noooooooo! Logan was the best! Dean was emotionally manipulative of Rory, and Jess was just a jerk, leaving and coming whenever he wanted. Logan was amazing!
Rory’s Life would have been different if she had gone to Harvard that was the dream and she derailed for Yale due to her grandfathers push even if she says it wasn’t.
I am so sad about Rory, I feel that the producers spoilt her by the end of the series. In the beginning I liked how She did everything to grow up to her own expectations and in the meantime She was shy, caring and naturally clever which made her to be noticed and loved (like in this season in which Rory got admitted to all Universities She applied to). By the end of the series and in the 4 season movie She lost this charm, She was naive and just living aimlessly.
I think her character arc portrayed the realities of growing up pretty perfectly. Growing up, everyone in her family and Stars Hollow treated her like she could do no wrong and that's just not how life turns out for any of us, no one makes zero mistakes. The way everyone coddled her and hailed her as the second coming of christ only set her up for failure, because no one can live up to that. At first I felt disappointed by what became of her character too, but as I've gotten older I've learned to appreciate just how realistic her "downfall" is. Also, I truly believe the novel she starts writing in A Year in the Life will be a great success for her and that she eventually becomes the person everyone expected her to be - just not right out of school, which let's be honest doesn't happen for most people, and after having gone through some struggles!
Ah hello how else was he supposed to hug her she was sitting down. I think it was a great hug by Luke. And Luke was by far the best character on that entire series.
She got a job offer but she turned it down to go for the Weston fellowship which she never had a chance of getting. She should have taken the job she was offered and made her way up to the New York Times.
I totally agree with that. Rory should have gone to Luke and asked him to go to her college graduation. That would have shown how much she loved Luke. But I don't think Rory appreciated how much Luke was a part of her life.
@@mikeprussock6073totally agree, I know it was hard because of the 4 ticket thing but it should have been Luke instead of Chris in my opinion but I don’t think Rory appreciated the fact that he was alway there for her as a father

Lorelai said "our Rory" before Luke and her went out :)

I loved it when she said that.
He is like such a proud papa in this scene.
I love how proud Luke is of Jess and how hard he is trying not to sound too proud in face of Rory's accomplishments but he is (as he should be!) :D
Two good news in one day Rory than Jess he should be happy
Goddamn, Luke is one of the best characters ever
And to think he almost wasn't part of the show
Soon true and stays grounded and gd hearted
The show would be DULL without him..he made it Epid
Luke was more of a dad to Rory then Christopher was
no!!!!! awkward hug by luke is really cute!!!!
“...our Rory...”
Anytime someone mentions oatmeal I can't help but laugh because I think of "Babette ate oatmeal". LOL

I was actually eating oatmeal while watching this today 😂😂

All the awkward moments of Luke are the best moments.
Rory's straight hair was my favourite hairstyle of hers. It's let her pretty face really shine through💗♥

Luke hugs just as awkwardly as Rory! It's a match :)
