I like that this anime works within the realm of realism. Of course it is over the top, but not like character can destroy planets and reverse time. This make the series to rely on narratives and character development. Takamura is the only character able to pull a Deus ex machina because is the ideal boxer, the strongest character of the series.
And the reason it works within reality is because the mangaka not only likes boxing but actually OWNS A BOXING GYM. So yeah, the mangaka knows how to portray boxing within realism.
This show did such a good job of portraying how majority of boxing or fight fans are. Fighters like Kobashi, Mayweather get shit on only because they don’t go gung-ho in their approach and brawl like wild animals in the centre of the ring and use their brains to win fights instead.
Funny thing is when Takamura went wild animal mode during Bryan Hawk match he still fought with the boxing fundamentals he trained with to pinpoint accuracy unconciously, just in a more aggressive, unpredictable way.

@@RP-zl5ix have you ever read the manga?
I like that this anime works within the realm of realism. Of course it is over the top, but not like character can destroy planets and reverse time. This make the series to rely on narratives and character development. Takamura is the only character able to pull a Deus ex machina because is the ideal boxer, the strongest character of the series.
And the reason it works within reality is because the mangaka not only likes boxing but actually OWNS A BOXING GYM.
So yeah, the mangaka knows how to portray boxing within realism.
Then Ippo rips a man's head off his body and sends him flying with a punch.
damn takamurai is walking monster
180th comment shall be...
"I'm ready for your lecture"
*HAAA!!*
Every school day ever
Such an underrated anime because its old animation
Welp old time boxing trainers would say a right hand can get you around the block, but a left hand can take you around the world
This show did such a good job of portraying how majority of boxing or fight fans are.
Takamura is really amazing.
You know you're way to good when you only win with left jabs
The coach is mad he cant lecture takamura, that always gets me.
No one is gonna talk about how badass Takamura’s bear costume is?
Takamura has more number of KOs than the combined IQ of the entire audience here
Legendary anime most newbies don't know about
"using your letf alone won't do the job"
Takamura: Hold My left.
Man this video reminds me of how Ippo lost to Ricardo in a sparing match :(
This need to come back real quick mad house gotta bring it back this a good as show just for it to stop
1:24 Don’t know why I feel proud of Takamura when I see this happening
5:03 best troll face ever😂
There's a better one when Takamura won the Japanese Belt. I'll never forget that smug grin of his 🤣
Worst part about this anime is that I discovered in 2023, truly wish I had found it sooner, most hype anime imho; currently reading it, picked it up at the Taka Eagle fight
At this moment Ippo learned what it took to rise but he didn't act on it
Striking fear into the opponent before they even fight
I remember back then, whenever I drew a buff or ripped man, I always put 3 cut marks on the chest because of him.
It was an AMV of the fight with the bear that got me on this anime. Because of the strongest man in Japan. Mamarou Takamura 💪🏽
Every left handed in this world today rise because of takamura.
これは何回も見てしまう
Funny that ippo goes through the same process in the manga right now, he learns how to use his left lolol.
