I am honestly curious how that arm wrestling match would had ended between Ippo and Takamura if the table didn't break. I mean I admit their weight classes are different Middleweight for Takamura and Featherweight for Ippo, however I have to point out that Takamura himself admitted that Ippo's really strong even with slight stutter when knowing that he is incredibly strong guy himself. I can't be the only one to think about this.
The most fascinating thing about this is watching how similar and different Takamura and Ippo are. "I'll break your bones!" "I won't give up!" It's pretty cool.
In Takamura's defense, this OVA was set during the time he was intentionally starving himself to fight SIX weight classes below his natural heavy weight frame. So he was at a huge physical handicap while this is basically as strong as Ippo was physically at least until after Rising (if we ever get the next season anyway...)
No anime has yet to catch the comradely these guys shared. You really feel theses guys grow together in gym from the way the tease each other to the way they support each other from cutting-weight or after a boxing match. Not even slice of life anime can get close to what Hajime no Ippo has in their gym
