    Any close friend who is out cycling and sees a friend who has been doing something boneheadedly unbelievable for so long would say "Hey - WTF? How did you not figure this out sooner?"

    My only thing with the bike setup, he's a professional athlete. I'd guess, these riders would notice something being off, let alone 3cm. I ride 600 hours a year as an amateur, these world tour guys are over 1000 hours easily, I'd feel 3cm. Muscle memory at that level has to be pretty accurate.
    F1 drivers notice their cars being off. Golfers would feel a heavy vs light club. Basketball player would notice if you moved the rim.
    I do hope though, he crushes it this season and we forget this all happened.

    I have actually seen live pros measuring their seat height and saddle handlebar distance sometimes even saddle angle but 3cm where adding various measurements os just 1 if so which?
    Bike fitters sometimes screw up Ex. I got fitted when i bought a pinarello frame some time ago and they gave me a 46.5 frame i rode the bike for a full year and didn't like the handling and since i lost some weight and got another fit and it showed the frame was too small for me so i got the same dogma in Size 50cm and the bike behaved so different super nice aggressive steering etc and since then i have used that size bike for that brand the first time they made a huge mistake and it was a expensive one i am not a sponsored rider i had to pay for the 2nd frame also the finishing kit handlebar stem crankset the 0 offset seat post alone was almost 400usd horrible experience

    I spent my whole life in sales, and the reason I loved it was because those with talent make money, and those without talent get canned. In too many occupations, you can ride the coattails of your colleagues and get paid the same as them. So I love the fact that sports is the same. Perform or get sacked. The difference is, and it's a huge difference that needs to change...athletes get paid their money first on the promise that they'll perform, or based on past performance. In sales you get paid this month for the work you did last month, and so on and so on. And they don't care how much money you made them last year or even last month, what are you doing for us this week...today?? Froome made his millions, and if you want my opinion, he pretty much got caught doping and when he had to give it up, he was just another guy in the peloton.

    Kinda think this could be true as he was off the bike, after that big accident and major injuries throughout his body. He was off the bike a long time and coming back battered and beaten. Also moving onto new kit. Yadayada. This likely hid the issue and he also returned into the 2020 season which was all over the place. In the midst of all this, I don;t think it;s beyond the pale to suggest bike measurement discrepancies went unnoticed.

    I am very surprised that a pro would not feel the difference. I know more about ice hockey, the professionals and high end amateurs would know immediately if their skates, sticks or equipment were ill fitting or longer. I can feel the difference on a bike when I ride a different bike

    3cm is a lot if you ride a long distance especially the pro. They need to deal with many stages. Try put 3mm off in ur cleat and ride more than 100km non stop, u'll feel the the pain after 60km. Imagine u need to do more than 10 stages in weeks. Those who said 3cm off is no big deal are those coffee rider. Try ride more than100km non stop, you know what i mean.

    Love you guys but don’t be stupid…if you are a pro you check certain things and demand certain things…I can’t even place in a local race and can tell if my seat or bars are off even in the slightest…and if my power was off I would double check everything

    They DON'T sack them - they will be under contract, so whatever contract time they have left has to be paid in full - plus extras for the inconvenience (?) of it all.
    I do sympathize with pro cyclists as there aren't many on what I call A Living Wage Contract, and the majority are on 1 to 2 yr contracts. For example, in Athletics in the US, Katelyn Tuohy, a female middle distance prospect, (most of whom never get to the Public conscience) has just signed for Adidas - for $1M per yr. - how many cycling PROSPECTS get that? None.
    At least she's not in the Music Industry - all that money would be taken out of sales - how many races would she have to win to do that?
    And congrats on making the Top 50 -

    I am guessing that the bike fit has been messing with Chris for a while but because he trusted his team he assumed it was all in his mind - logical given the crash - at least until he got the tape measure out.
    Doesn't make me consider less of Chris, one of the greats of all time, has won all 3 GTs.

      He could easily have hired a professional bike fitter and got a second opinion with the millions that his team is paying him.
      So are we to believe that now that he supposedly has his fit dialed in that he will start performing up to his level of his contract OR will we hear him say that his age means these changes won’t have much of an impact. I can understand him trying to stay positive but all through his years since leaving Sky he spoke of his “sensations” from his training being better than previous years, giving him hope that he will have a good season and it has been like a broken record just to keep his team hoping that he will deliver…something.

    If you are off for 3 cm and never felt it off then you are not a professional cyclist. That sort of thing you feel it right away - 3cm is a huge difference almost for a mortal

    Froome was deteriorating 2018 and was at parts being carried by Bernal. 2019 he had the crash which was bad but 5 years later aside from the Alpe stage in 22 TDF he hasn't got anywhere near his old self. I'd love him to win a stage again but it won't happen and all the excuses just make him appear to be deluded. Geraint Thomas is only 1 year younger than Froome and hes still always up there in GC nearly won the Giro last year.

    Did Eddy Merckx assume everything was OK with his position? Maybe you kiddies should watch "Sunday in Hell" again? (or for your first time?) Maybe Chris Froome should watch it?

  • @dropbaran
    @dropbaran 5 месяцев назад +2

    Apparently, Froome measured his reach from the nose of the saddle - he used to have a long-nosed one at Sky, but a short-nosed at the current team. Depending on the particular shape of the saddle the measurements change, which also explains his claim re saddle height. It was not nice of him to make his wrong conclusions public before talking to the team - and so the backlash is well deserved

    I’m always surprised at the level of disrespect aimed at Chris Froome. He’s a 7 time Grand Tour winner and I suspect that those that are most critical of him have never won a damn thing.

    • @cycleoflife565
      @cycleoflife565 5 месяцев назад

      Being a 7 time grand tour winner doesn’t cost him with Teflon. His past success means that he can’t be criticized and analyzed? What works are you living in? I’ll bet his sponsor is critical of him for not coming anywhere close to delivering on the level of his contract.

    Chris, two words…”bike fit”! Even us amateurs can quickly identify if the fit and feel of a new bike does not feel correctly. There are websites which allow you to easily compare geometries. Two more words…”no excuses”!

      Bike fit can't help 100% junior. They are pro rider that rides more than 100km non stop, every ride is a century ride to them. Try that and come back to comments.

    You clowns are leaving out the time and means of his recovery from his accident. What's wrong with you all? Also, see Bernard Hinault and his experience at the 1983 Vuelta. Why did Hinault leave Renault and miss the '83 TdF? LOL. "Ahh...I'd forgotten about that crash!" Derp.

    How is it "rude" or "savage" to tell a rider that non-sense excuses won't win you a spot??? After spending years and fortunes developing Chris, presumably providing every training necessity, only to have him repay with this phony rubbish of an excuse... I'd say Chris is the one being rude and savage.
