Me and my dad played this growing up, it was always so magical and creepy. But you don't die or respawn, its just a great puzzle game. I recommend tallying clues on a notepad or something as you go. 😅
I actually came to this video to show my wife what it was because we were having a conversation about this. She loves "Find it" games and I was telling her how my father used to love this game and we'd play for hours. Finding this comment struck a chord with me. Seems I wasn't the only one who's father loved this game and spent time with them in it as a result. He died over a decade ago and I just realized later in my life (40 now) that a lot of the things I love are a result of him. He loved stories as much as I do and I had no clue. I also love art; and like to mini-paint and create scenery, which I believe stems from his love of model railroads. Ironically, as a result of learning how to do all that stuff with him, it has made me much better at the things I enjoy to do now. Again; Thanks for this comment. Brought a smile to my face.
@@Kartan17 Yes I believe it referenced the father and son team as the people who would answer but I could be wrong. As in, I think the developer and his son were the helpers on the other line
Did not know that. My mom and I used to play this game all of the time on our homebuilt pc. Sadly, we were stumped at some part during the game and stopped. She passed away during COVID from cancer. I may start playing again to finish what we started.
I don't know if it's me or if anyone else struggles with getting dizzy and feeling nauseous while watching this? All of the twisting and turning just gets my head spinning. I had to watch it in like 4 segments to get through it. Anyhow, I do appreciate the walkthrough as I solved this game myself years ago and it took me about a week or so. I remember being stuck in that age with the rotating mechanism. I was driving at work and thinking about what I was missing and a lightbulb finally went off......I didn't think to step off the elevator when I pushed the button so that I could access the roof. I couldn't wait to get home and test my theory!
This is a good-looking remake. A minor quibble is that in the original game, you see something sticking out at the top of the elevator here 1:28:00, which is the clue for you to lower the elevator; but in the new game you see nothing sticking out, and it wouldn't occur to you to lower the elevator (nor to figure out the tricky way to lower it).
Very interesting and very involved puzzle solving games with a good story plot. Did not see that ending coming in the game. So the 2 brothers were trying to be very clever in their needs. Graphics in Myst and Riven are both stunning and glad they both work with VR. Very good video and will book mark this video should I get the Myst and Riven games to explore for myself. Take care.
nice remake, I miss the rain like in real-Myst ... I played the original 1993 and all Parts like Riven, Exile ... I like that real actors were involved .. @ 02:56:36 .. wasn't there the real actor and maker of myst ?
LOL, this game has no ending! Without that video I would still wondering around the island in order to figure out what to do next! How players are suppost to know they beat the game?! Strange thing is also, I managed to get access father world BEFORE I figured out the last puzzel (island with underground train). Really weird.
I have always wanted to get into this game, but the dated control scheme always put me off. I have just bought this on steam, I’m ready for an adventure.
Some of the most magical aspects of the original game and original realmyst are missing from this version, such as the musical cue when solving the compass rose puzzle and turning on the underwater lights, the rain and storm on stoneship, the wind in the treetops of channelwood, the bats in the selenitic tunnel to the antenna. Also i take it the Rime age isn't in this version? Otherwise you missed it.
The improved graphics and free movement make this a lot easier, half the battle in the original was being able to see what was interactive and what wasn't for example the books on the shelves in the library are clearly burned or on-tact in this version, originally you would have to sift through them all. It looks great, I do miss some of the original sounds though.

2:19:28 [ this is the time stamp for the book ] There is a book in the library where we can find the order of the piano key to be pressed. Then while pressing the piano key in the rocket ship we can see the keynote like C1. According to the order pressed on the piano, their respective notes are shown then with the help of the notes panel keys on the opposite side of the piano are moved then the Selenitic Age book is unlocked.
@@TelepathShield Every node on the maze has a sound. That starting location has a bell sound and the only option there is to go north. So if you hear a bell, go north. By going through the maze that way, you learn that every cardinal direction has a corresponding sound
@TShield the compass simulator in mechanical age answers this. You can match the direction to the sound by using that. That also helps you figure out what direction to rotate the gears in mechanical age.
The sound effects are the clue for making your way. North, south, east, and west each has a distinct sound, and NE, SE, NW, and SW plays two of the sounds together. Learn which is which, follow them, and Bob's your uncle!
