I don't outright ship Lila and Kell, like I'm fine with it but I could do without it too but Alucard and Rhy, I am so down for, that bedroom scene, damn. It almost feels too obvious that Lila is an antari. I can't believe that there is only one book left.
The Essen Tasch reminded me more of Goblet of Fire than anything else tbh, and that is a BIG compliment because Goblet of Fire is one of my fave HP books. That being said, this book is everything and VE Schwab is a freaking genius
I am so happy you loved this book! I wasn't too blown away by A Darker Shade Of Magic, but this book broke me, I love it so much and I am so excited for the third one. I loved Rhy from the first book already, but seeing him struggle and have his character be developed further made me love him even more. I adore Kell and Lila, as individuals and as a couple, especially after this book. In the first one I was okay with them, but after this one I am so invested in them as a couple it's not normal. Something I really adore about this series is Kell and Rhy's relationship, I just love these types of relationships so much (like in TID, Jem and Will are my happiness) and I think V.E.Schwab does such an amazing job with both characters and relationships. I am so ready for the third book, I read A Gathering Of Shadows last April and I am about to lose my mind with worry for all my children.
I loved second book as much as first one, but the romance between Kell and Lila was my least favorite part (sorry, I know you like them together). I loved that in A Darker Shade of Magic there was zero romance (I'm not a big fan of love in books in general), I just wanted Kell and Lila to be platonic friends so much T_T
I couldn't agree more! And the fact that they were away from each other in book two made it worse... in the first one I really liked their interractions whether it was supposed to be romantic or not, but here they're just pinning over each other and it was boooring.
I've seen a few people on youtube disregarding the AlucardxLila moment but like??? It's been made very clear that this is not a heteronormative series and Alucard and Rhy have both made it quite clear that they speak of 'lovers', not genders? I don't believe either of them are driven by gender? So why do people have so much gripe about the Alucard and Lila incident and saying that "he's gay so it's bullshit'? I just wish people would stop assuming Schwab's characters are one way or the other (#fuckbierasure #it'saspectrum) Please excuse my rant, love your reviews!
Kell is a precious smol bean that must be protected. Lila, while she is a wonderfully written character, I don't like her. Her "I'm Lila and can do what I want, to heck with the fallout to myself or anyone else" attitude irritated the daylights out of me. She's the opposite of Kell. He has overwhelming responsibility amd loyalty to the crown and Rhy, while Lila has loyalty to herself. And i don't like that.
Sierra Vacha No you are not the only one. I really tried to like her but she was just help her case. At the end she physically would make me frustrated and they're angry. If she wasn't there I would love this book.
I went on good reads to see want other people thought of her. Well lets just say a lot more people felt the same way as I did. They were very honest in their review about that female character. The tea of it all.😂
Sierra Vacha I also don't like her. Though there are some parts in the book that it made me like her for a bit, then after that it gets back not liking her. 😀
We book lovers need videos like this, I mean spoiler videos. Because My problem is I read a book, ABSOLUTELY love it! but have no one to speak about it.....Every reader wants to talk about the book they loved.....And these videos give you some satisfaction....Knowing how another reader thought about it.....Absolutely loved hearing about it, Thank you for the video
Great review, I love your enthusiasm about the series. Have you already made a discussion of A Conjuring of Light? I'm really interested to see your thoughts on it.
I eco every single thing you said. I love this series so freaking much, I love my 4 children and just want them to be happy and I'm dying for the final book. Already pre-ordered it and now I'm just dying because I NEED it!
I completely feel you on everything said in this video--especially the not being okay part. 😂 I've been in Shades of Magic withdrawal for two weeks. As soon as the last book is out, I'm buying it. That cliffhanger is destroying me.
completely agree!! it was also really hard reading about the way that rhy and kell were struggling? i just want them to be happy dammit. and lila's turnaround at the end made me so happy. i usually dont like when books end on cliffhangers but this was so well done i cant even fault it. BRING IT ON CONJURING OF LIGHT
Am I the only one who hates Lila? In the first book I was like, ok, she is a thief because of the circumstances but now, in the 2nd book we see that she is a heart cold killer, who doesn't kill from necessaty. And still, everybody looolllves her and support s her no matter what, while in book 3 we see Holland who kills from necessaty and does some mistakes and everybody hates him and what's to kill him
I really, really liked this book too! I thought it was miles better than the first one (though I enjoyed that one too). I love all the four little babies, and to be fair, I kinda ship everyone with everyone. I love Kell and Lila, and I also really really adore Alucard's character. Contrary to you I really liked him with Lila, but I also loved him with Rhy. Haha so many ships and I'm aboard them all. And just like you said, I liked that Lila got her own storyline and didn't stick around in Red London for Kell, but decided to go for her dreams and passions to become a pirate and have adventure. So refreshing and amazing character development, something she can hopefully teach Kell. Also Rhy's too precious for this world and he needs happiness ASAP! Can't wait for February 24!!
I’m several years late to this series and just started book 3 but I have one burning question: WHY IS HE CALLED ALUCARD WHEN HE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH VAMPIRES??
The first book was good but didn't blow me away.. this book on the other hand was amazing! That cliffhanger ruined me and a conjuring of light feels soo far away
I was already in a few chapters in when I saw this vid of yours but when you said to just come back after I finish reading, so I did.lol. This is a magnificent sequel to ADSOM which now seemed whefe the characters and themes were "confined" but AGOS game them (characters and themes) "wings" in a way that they were grandly explored. The only thing I didn't like (or I was just naturally impatient haha) is that Kell and Lila met only a couple of chapters left in the book. It was built up after one instance to another to the point that my anticipation faded too much. Anywaysss, still VE Shwabb is truly a master story teller. So unto the last book!
I just read this book and i really need to share some of my thoughts here😂😂 The essen tach actually gives me a hunger games vibe instead sure its not too death but we had our 2 main characters fighting against each others. But the whole book in general to me wasn't as good as the 1st but good enough to make me want to read the 3rd book. I really want holland to join the happy club after the last book but i feel like i won't get that :( BUT LILA LILA IS MY GIRL, she's just so brave and so clever its something that i think is great sure there's alot of great heroines but lila just feels so different in a good way and i've been thinking shes antari since the 1st book!! As for kell/rhy/alucard's arc all of them were perfection but lila's arc just really sucked me in the most compared to theirs. I don't think you mentioned this (maybe u read the 3rd book by the time im typing this) but i think that in the 3rd book grey london is going to play a part because i feel like it hasnt really been in it and what if they took their battle to grey london?
Help!! I cannot think of the name of the book about a girl who is betrothed to a prince but falls in love with his sister. I think I remember you talking about it at one point. What is it called??
But like...her and Alucard didn't really have a moment? He's gay as fuck and he was literally playing her to get information. Like I understand she was into him but he didn't feel a single damn thing for her so I don't really think it counts.
In my opinion the best thing of this book was Hastra, such a precious soul lol I would to see hin again in the next book
Have you read the book? So I know if I can spoil
I don't outright ship Lila and Kell, like I'm fine with it but I could do without it too but Alucard and Rhy, I am so down for, that bedroom scene, damn. It almost feels too obvious that Lila is an antari. I can't believe that there is only one book left.

Yes Kell and Lila I also love how subtle Schwab writes their relationship it's tasteful enough to make you want it but not in your face.
GIRL I SHIP LILA AND KELL SO MUCH THEY ARE MY TREASURED BABIES
I am so happy you loved this book! I wasn't too blown away by A Darker Shade Of Magic, but this book broke me, I love it so much and I am so excited for the third one.

Kell / Ned OTP
I am so done with Kell and Lila and their life choices but Ned makes me so happy
ghk128 HILARIOUS
Your theory about Lila and her eye has me SHOOK. I never thought that much about her glass eye before omg
I loved second book as much as first one, but the romance between Kell and Lila was my least favorite part (sorry, I know you like them together). Alucard did what he did to get information from Lila about herself, he doesn't like her
@@annaan2873 im pretty sure it was mentioned that he was flirting with some girls, so the point is; He's probably bi too, but yeah doesn't like her
Kell is a precious smol bean that must be protected. Lila, while she is a wonderfully written character, I don't like her. I don't typically ship couples but man, I am down for Kell and Lila. Side note, has anyone read Schwab's acknowledgements from AGOS? Hilarious.
i feel like i'm the only person who doesn't like lila. i found myself being more annoyed by her than anything.
Sierra Vacha No you are not the only one. I really tried to like her but she was just help her case. At the end she physically would make me frustrated and they're angry.
If she wasn't there I would love this book.

Sierra Vacha I don’t like her either. I have just finished this book today and wow...Lila needs to go.
Girl retweeet to all of u i dont like her either

I feel like if I was a character in this series and would be Ned.
The tournament reminds me of the tri-wizard from Harry Potter
I got major Legend of Korra vibes from the duels, rather than Throne of Glass... anyone else?
Lauren Bastian Me too. With the elemental magic right? It's like the bending games Korra, Mako and Bolin compete in.
YES
Lauren Bastian OMFG SAAAAME (at one point I actually listened to the soundtrack while reading the arena scenes aND WOW)
katierosefun On a completely unrelated note, FELLOW AHSOKA FAN!!
Lauren Bastian holy crap yes I thought I was the only one :ooooooooo

This series seems like a fun series to pick up. Lol "We can't all have nice things all the time." I can relate xD
3RD BOOK REVIEEW????? AAAAAA
I WAS. LITERALLY FANGIRLING AS I WATCHRD YOUR VIDEO XDDDD
I've been waiting for these since you finished on Goodreads! So glad you liked them. Can't wait for the next!
Isabel Story Mangum Yayy!! I know I can't wait either! It's only two weeks away 😄😄😄

i ship kell and lila so muchhh
This is one of my favourite series ever :) glad you enjoyed.
i just finished it and i love it so much !!!
Are you going to make a video about a conjuring of light? :D
It's the best book ever!! From cover to cover
I just read this book and i really need to share some of my thoughts here😂😂

Leighann Posey Of Fire and Stars by Audrey Coulthurst. 😊👍🏻
trying to do my own review for the book
THIS FKN BOOK KILLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLED MEEEEE SO MUCH AND THAT ENDING MADE ME WANT TO DIE
But like...her and Alucard didn't really have a moment? He's gay as fuck and he was literally playing her to get information. Like I understand she was into him but he didn't feel a single damn thing for her so I don't really think it counts.
