The adding together low rolls when you have advantage is actually pretty cool and would make a fun class feature especially for a class with a regular source of advantage like a barbarian.

Absolutely love lucky’s hat, such a great story and item. Thank you for the shout out and showing my dice mug and dice light, so nice of you both. As you said the double trouble rule would suck rolling two Nat 20’s on disadvantage. Yeah I never like player pvp for silly things. Great work as always!

I think DMs who despise healing, they might get more into players who do single combat run away type combat? They might like more the 1 week is a long rest mechanics, and have a more slower paced, less combat situation?
I have a 10 minute short rest, but a long rest that accumulates per hour. I do a similar thing where you have to spend Hit dice to heal in a long rest, but I also don't restrict healing spells. I do have damage mechanics, but that requires magic healing, time (long rest) and additional magic in the morning to get the wounds removed. I do this, to get players to run away from things that are overwhelming and have to plan their campaigns. If they stay too long in a location it should exhaust people. And it also incentivizes them to leave, prepare (craft solutions, recruit allies) and then return with the proper spells, potions, scrolls and armor to handle it.
If the players were ever stuck in this half HP hell the story had, I would have changed it, because that isn't the goal. Its more about the attrition than it is about making the players feel weak always. Just if they try to run a weeks long war by themselves.

Thank you! Ive been grappling with my grandfather getting older and what that entails so when i was writing Lucky's Hat i drew inspiration from my grandfathers lucky ass. Obviously wasnt a pirate but hes had some insane stories. Hes still alive and kicking hopefully for a while still but this was made with him in mind.

I actually think that a character who has constantly trained and fought with spells that can only reach up to a specific distance would have acquired quite the good sense of distance and WOULD in fact know if a target was out of range more often than not (except if there was some magical f*ckery going on ofc)

Given that 90% of combat takes places within 40 yards, I absolutely agree.

I came over from TikTok. I don't play DnD, but my friends do. When I was able to hang out with them, I would just observe the session. It was fun just watching and spending the time with them, so I am used to lurking. Perhaps I will catch a stream sometime. I love the vibe you both have.
I am currently binging your videos here as I work on inventory for the next event I am selling my art at. I'm going backward from most recent to the oldest video. 😂

doesn’t the thief in BG3 have an extra bonus action? could be cool for a specific subclass (disagree with rogue in general though)

Oh I love love the double trouble rule, I think that’s really nice and gives your players a better reward especially for players who have shit dice luck 🤣🤣
“We had a DM who hated healing” OH FANTASTIC I’m sure this will be a reasonable change to the rules🤡💀
I actually am really grateful that Jack brought up that criticism of Matt; I'm a fan of CR (though I haven't kept up for C3) and that has always been a DM choice from him that I find frustrating. It doesn't make sense to me, as someone who DMs, as to why your spellcaster players WOULDN'T know the range of their spells and be able to eyeball or gauge distance. That's their skill just like a fighter would know the range of their sword. I also think it's incredibly unfair because as a DM you know what attacks/spells are going to be in range because you're in control of the map, so it's not even a choice that is fair or not.

Also as a con on disadvantage/advantage double trouble, you could have it be that you double things upto and greater than 10 on advantage, but only things less than 10 on disadvantage. Will this come out with insane attack rolls if you get double 19s yes. Does it fit perfect for a power fantasy campaign, also yes. Luck was truly on your side, but luck can only get you so far, so if you are at disadvantage, you can only double under 10.you

its not something id house rule, but id love to try and play a game as a wizard who can only get their spells from the open world. no level up spells, only spell copy. it would need to be discussed with the dm to homebrew it and work with me and make the cost of copying spells cheaper to compensate, but it might be fun to play! (Frieren inspired concept)

my dm will say a game is at 8pm, then start the game at 12am (4 hours late) then, punish you if you show up and have to leave early. one of the players could only stay for around 30-60 minutes because the game was delayed for so long. the dm punished this player by having his character die (because he controlled his character when he left and made him jump in lava) he would actively try to kill players, and would make up random rules for no reason so the bad guys didnt die and could get away. (for instance, I was on an enemy boat and I'm a monk and can run on water) I attacked an enemy on the boat then left to shore to allow the other players to catch up as i was a bit ahead of them. he didnt want the enemies on the boat to lose because then we would get a boat, so once i stepped off the boat, he said they sailed away and I wasnt allowed to follow, even though I can run on water and could have got back on the boat before they sailed away as its a normal boat, and it takes time to get speed.

Dm doesn't like healing? They should play a d100 system.
The last story that feels like they play war game's. Which while template weaponry usially can scatter it's significantly less sucky.
