  • SpaceX’s Falcon Heavy Demonstration Mission launched from Launch Complex 39A (LC-39A), Kennedy Space Center, Florida, on 6 February 2018, at 20:45 UTC (15:45 ET). For its maiden flight, Falcon Heavy’s second stage will attempt to place the payload, Elon Musk’s Tesla Roadster, into a precessing Earth-Mars elliptical orbit around the Sun. For this first flight test, Falcon Heavy’s two side cores launched the Thaicom 8 satellite (May 2016) and the CRS-9 mission (July 2016). Following booster separation, Falcon Heavy’s two side cores landed at SpaceX’s Landing Zones 1 and 2 (LZ-1 and LZ-2) at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Florida. Falcon Heavy’s center core attempted to land on the “Of Course I Still Love You” droneship, stationed in the Atlantic Ocean.

    • @socksumi
      @socksumi 6 лет назад +3

      This is SpaceX and is the collective effort of scientists employed and paid by Elon Musk who comes from South Africa but has American and Canadian citizenships. The US Gov't didn't initiate, organize or fund this in any way... this is a private effort.

      We're watching a rocket launch. Hearing people scream and cheer with no rocket noise is like watching an Indy 500 race where the cars make sewing machine noises.

    • @JC50000000
      @JC50000000 6 лет назад +1

      do you want a version without the crowd and with the best audio on the internet? watch SmarterEveryday's video. it was on top of nasa's building where only 20 people are allowed and with calibrated sound. it's the best audio of the launch on the internet.
      and comparing this to a race is ridiculous... you have plenty of time to watch it on the internet without noise. the live moment of one of the best engineering moments in history needs to have a crowd

    Probably the "Spruce Goose" of E. Musk. The market for the ultra-heavy loads is disappearing, the satellites have adapted by reducing their mass. Ariane 6 did a good evaluation by not following this path ...
