Junt is seriously a gift to the world
The production and direction is perfectly nostalgic. Junts expertise makes this genuinly engaging and educational.
This is a wonderful addition to the channel.
This is the kind of content that the internet exists for.
This was gold, please keep 'puter smithin'.
This channel is seriously a wholesome, RUclips hidden gem. I do miss EJ's game of thrones reviews, though.
Print Shop and dot matrix... I made so many "WARNING DO NOT ENTER" and "biohazard area" and "nuclear waste area" and skull and crossbones signs for my bedroom door back in the day...
Pllllllls focus on the ‘Puter Smith content for this channel!!! 😍
MOAR ‘Puter smith videos PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!
This has it all! "I just happen to have...a spare ImageWriter II, spare cable, 6 adapters, NOS colour cartridges" Junt forever and always!
Treated myself to a new episode of Putersmith while eating my lunch today. That was worth waiting to watch!
:) ya gotta savor these things. Thanks for the support!
This brings back memories of being in the computer lab in Elementary in 90's. There was a software my computer teacher would have us create a story book and it would print out like 10 pages with our name in the story.
I just watched nine and a half minutes of a man and a printer; and it brought back so many fond memories of the 80's at the school library printing random stuff. You magnificent bastards. Keep making the gold.
I love how you can hear the excitement and passion in Jon's voice. Putersmith is so wholesome. It's exactly what I needed this morning!
Thank you. This was awesome. Just a few years younger than you. I used Printshop on my IIGS and Image writer II , Good times.
Man there were some nostalgic sounds coming from all that hardware.
So glad RUclips recommended this to me, this is pretty awesome!
I work in the movie and tv production in Montreal, in 2019 for the movie "My Salinger year" they asked me to operate an old dot matrix printer on the set for a scene where the main character is printing his first draft of his book, a very old compaq laptop was running with Windows 95 as a props while the dot matrix printer was connected to an off--screen modern laptop, running a USB to printer port adapter and using drivers that were made for windows 95, I haven't seen the movie yet so I don't know if the actual scene made the cut or not, like Junt we had to purchase the paper from Amazon too
I adore this series.
Omg...the edge chains id make while at my mom's office. She eventually had me learn how to file at 10 so I wasn't just folding paper hahaha
This brought back so many memories. Thanks John. Love you guys.
Wild that this video doesnt have more views. Thank you ‘Puter Smith!
More Puter Smith episodes please. These are nostalgic and amazing.
My god, I remember using Print Shop in Elementary school! School and a couple friends had Apple computers. I had an Atari 800XL in my early to mid teens. Then I finally started doing PC stuff circa 1995, ran a BBS and other fun things. Good times. :)
I’ve watched this multiple times. I already miss all the content.
Absolutely loving the Puter Smith series
We need more Puter Smith
I mean this with 100% love and zero malice. I can/will watch and listen to Junt do or say anything…..but nothing naughty! Love you guys! 😊
Great video.
Form feed paper is still very much in use at airports for printing things like passenger manifests, so no surprise that you can still grab it on Amazon. As for Apple II’s appearing long beyond their production in schools, the rural elementary school I attended up to 1998 still used them in the lower grades!
I AM SO GLAD THIS IS BACK
The triple reverse cable was awesome. Great episode. Great series.
We love to see it!
This is a gem. A rare 1980's style gem. Why are you not a larger channel?
If only! We’ve been at it for a long time too.
John is the Matlock of antiquated technology.
Cool video. I remember using Print Shop way back in the second grade. I don't recall seeing it since.
And that cable you have is crazy 😃. And people complain about dongles with the MacBook Pro like they are a new thing 😂.
Print Shop was the shit!!! I was poor so I had it on my Commodore 64. I was so jealous of my friend who had that sexy Apple IIc Plus.
This is so perfect, wish you guys could fit more Puter Smiths into the Red Cow schedule!
@06:02 that adapter is the most Apple thing I've ever seen.
I'm really surprised those NOS colour ribbons still worked!
Back in the day I used my ImageWriter II on my IIGS with Print Shop GS, and printed lots of colour posters, cards and envelopes.
I hope you get that jammed ImageWriter going again
I was on a destroyer in the Persian Gulf in 2014 and we ordered a pallet of 8.5 x 11 paper from a USNS supply ship in the area. Unfortunately we received a pallet of that form feed paper via conrep in the middle of the sea. When we got it onboard we realized it was the wrong paper so we tossed that full pallet into the sea. USNS motto - "no refunds."
Great stuff!
Love this! Learned a lot and very cool
I miss Red Cow content *every* Sunday 😭
So nice and awesome of you to want so much content. I hope to get back there someday. Right now, it’s all I can manage. But! We do always have clips from the podcast! Did you check out the latest one?
Dot matrix printers and form fed paper and print shop, all you needed to be a graphics wiz. I definitely had friends who had printed banners hanging in their rooms for far too long.
More puter smith please. And a junt biopic lol
A whole new variety of B-roll!
Amazinggffff
Would totally hang that wall art in our house 🙌🏻
Just received an ImageWriter II yesterday that I bought on eBay. Good shape, still works great! Just missing the rear cover though. Got plenty of vintage Macs from early to mid 90s to use it with! Can’t wait to find a color ribbon and make some banners like I did back in 6th grade! 😁
They still make tractor-fed impact printers. Epson DFX-9000 costs $3157, is 9-pin, and can do 1500 chars/sec.
The IIc Plus was actually 4 MHz, 4 times faster than the IIc, I can’t imagine how slow it must be on there!
looks like theres a little bit of crust in there. Nice job Junt ;-)
If you don’t incorporate the “Putersmith” printing out in a new intro, pausing and zooming in on it 80s-style, what are you even doing?
Very interesting!!
What are the chances of us getting another 'Puter Smith this year?
I think quite good!
@@RedCowEntertainment Awesome! Love the content.
I’m way too invested in this show now
got printmaster plus
neat
I have a 1986 Macintosh se with an Apple ImageWriter. I have it connected and the computer recognizes it but when I click print nothing happens. Any troubleshooting tips?
I also have an image writer but is is not form-feeding it is in great condition i have no idea why it is not working.
What shutter angle did you guys shoot this at? Looks faster than 180 in some shots
what's the background music playing
Just some royalty free jazz.
@@RedCowEntertainment can you upload the print shop graphics
5:45 wow that is disgusting hahaha. So glad modern technology is so accessible
Yes, now everything is USB-C but with different capabilities depending on what each device and cable supports, and no standard way to test or visually tell what can actually do what.
Hey kid, I'm a computer(smith)
his "modern" computer is running Windows 7. 🤣
Haha, the irony wasn’t lost on me!
