I love that he fixed it in the most Junt way possible. After using all of his diagnosing tools, it starts working and he has no idea why. Fantastic!
Please continue this series Junt!
This was the most calming video i have seen in a while and have no interest in computers whatsoever! Came here for the mac stayed for junt
I ❤️ that Mathew Zagar gets a credit for organization of the lab. Great new show!
I keep coming back to this video over and over. Love 'puter smith
I know not a single thing about fixing computers. But this was fantastic.
Who is this John guy? You should do more segments with him.
He cooks the macaroni and cheese! Seriously, he's a genius! He sounds like a computer engineer. I like this segment! Keep it up!
Absolutely love this series
I've never wanted to witness an Apple IIc computer be repaired more in my life than I did today. Love the new show, RCE!
You do a good job hosting Jon- I have zero interest in computer repair, but you still made this interesting.
Love this series Junt, you're obviously a brilliant guy. My last memory of a 5.25" floppy was in kindergarten and it's great that you revisit and resurrect some of these older computers.
I know nothing about puters except i called them that as a 90s kid. But i love this series, Jon is a fascinating guy
John is like Super Mario: a true renaissance man! Mac and cheese chef, retro computer fixer upper, vacuum expert, adventurer for the best deal, knower of everything known and unknown
Been a fan for a few years now and this is definitely the series that will get u guys a huge audience I love it so much it’s like computer version of Bob Ross with the background music and explanation graphics
Hahaha! I was totally getting a Bob Ross vibe the entire time. I'm glad I wasn't the only one.
bring this series back!!!
I love this title because my four year old nephew calls computers "puters" He also calls game controllers "trollers".
Thank you for this video!
This is exactly what I needed to help me through a really tough breakup. Thank you red cow!!!
Aw man, I’m so sorry. Glad we could be a bright spot. Feeling for you.
Best thing for a break up is to get a hooker...get drunk...screw her brains out and you'll feel much better. Living in Nevada is great and its legal in some counties.
I really enjoyed this segment, can't wait for the next episode!
I just love the soft contrast video texture obviously shot in Log mode editing and framing are sharp and to the point, Junt voice is flowing I think you have hit the nail Frankie with this one !
Can't wait for more episodes!
What a wonderful show!
This is fantastic! All red cow content is consistently good but this a lot of potential. Junt SNES educated me on a topic I thought I was knowledgable on. But this is a topic I know nothing about and I cant be more excited to learn every Sunday from Professor Junt.
Awesome Collection and very nice Narration and Editing!
Ohhhhh this is gonna be a hell of a series.
New series, let’s goooo!
im in love with this series already its like Junts snes and it was amazing
It’s my favorite things all in one video: Junt and Classic Apple computers. I can’t wait until the eventual recapping video!
This is amazing work. Second only to Pfaltzgraff adventures!
Incredible production quality. Perfect pacing and presentation. It's almost surreal to see really nice vintage computer content like this produced so incredibly skilfully. Please keep it up!
Powerful content. Great as always.
That intro is so beautifully retro! And this whole show was so much fun! Always love new RCE content.
I actually really enjoyed this. Thanks for a great vid 👍
Another homerun by my favorite channel. Junt and Frankie rule!
Omfg!!! My new addiction. Legitimately had me enthralled as well as reaffirmed what we already knew...that Junt’s a friggin savant of all things.
This was great!
Yess! I’m just about to repair an old mac for the first time! It’s such a cool coincidence that you posted this. I would love more in a series like this!
Great new series! Super interesting stuff and really nicely edited/delivered.
This is spectacular
Fascinating. John should interview for The Avengers. They're going to need a replacement for Tony Stark, and I can't stand that know-it-all Shuri chick.
Loved this, I really hope you guys make more episodes like this.
Whoa. Gonna need a new episode of this, Frankie.
It'll be a while.
Holy (Red) Cow! This is a really good addition to the channel. Keep this stuff up, too! Been a fan for years- doing Patreon now.
Funny intro!!! Great vid!! Subscribed !!!!
This was really interesting!
nice, love the new show. it be cool to see some kind of filter on the opening to make it look like it was taped from a tv show.
WOWZERS
wow this is great.
Please it would be very helpful if you did a video showing “step by step” how you hooked up the floppy emu to the iic and loaded programs. Thanks, Mark
Hey Frankie. Great job once again!
Jon: this is how it starts. A computer here, a computer there, then one day you wake up and you cant move in the house!
As an old timer that does electronic repairs, I cringed when I saw that big blob of solder. Did you clean off the pcb lands well enough before you began to solder? If not, you may have continuity today, but the joint may not last. Sometimes you can use a pencil eraser to clean them off.they should be bright and shiney before soldering.
Another thing: it is wise to re-seat all the chips that are on sockets as socketed chips suffer from "chip creep' due to thermal expansion and contraction when used causing the chips to work their way up the socket.
Quality Sunday content as usual Frankie, for a moment I thought I was watching retro Louis Rossmann albeit without all the ranting
MORE!
Checking RCE.com daily finally pans out with some early access content! with this show you'll be able to reach a new niche of viewers. I can think of a few subreddits that would be interested in this once it's uploaded! The background music was perfect for the content and really set the tone.
Great to see a room of disaster cleaned out!
I loved this video. I wish that Junt had an IT course that I could watch. Junt probably knows already but some of the IT training videos like for A+ and others are very boring. Junt is very easy to listen to and the video was interesting.
Memories of my Apple IIe 128k duel disk drive with a modem to a local chat room and buying tons of great software from Beagle Brothers. I actually won the "One liner" contest twice from Nibble magazine. I would play that same Chopper game over and over while listening to all the Michael Jackson hits. Bought and sold Apple computers in the mid 80's in the Chicago land area and made big bucks. Loved Apple.
I discovered a treasure trove of content from the cinemassacre videos of the assholish variety
WHOA! :O Hell yes!
I have one of these. Going to fire it up today to see if it still works.
i'm loving junt going full geek mode, as a geek myself.
Headlamp 24/7 for the win 😝
lol john's wtf moment
comfiest channel/ videos on youtube.
Dang redcow with the 3:30 am content drop. respek
such a cool guy, how i missed this channel is beyond me. Where did you learn to program the ROM chips and changing them out? the piggy back move is something i have never seen and too neat. Learned a lot with only one video of yours! Sub'd and keep up the great work!
You guys didn't boil the Apple IIc long enough
Apple, the computer company I was forced to use when I wasn't at home.
Bruh I have a Apple 2c and a few different older Macs, thanks guys, love your Mac and cheese stuff too lol, also before I watched more of the video when csI saw the pattern I said, that’s a ram chip right there, can’t believe your also into Macs and Mac and cheese, I’m seeing some similarity between me and you
If I could give a piece of advice Frankie, you should reformulate your titles to something like "Repairing an Apple IIc: Diagnosing bad RAM chips - 'Puter Smith #1." It's generally recommended to put the show titles at the end, and more keywords can't hurt. Also be sure to paste your metadata keywords into your description. Apparently RUclips experts say it helps with the SEO.
I'm sure you know most of this stuff, but I only mention it because I know with the success of youtubers like The 8-bit Guy that retro computing has a lot of potential on the platform.
Put...put macaroni in it
I love this! I’ve been binging Red Cow pretty much all week after RUclips recommenced your channel. Is Junt accepting computer donations like you do for BoxMac? I’ve got a few things from the 80s I’d be happy to donate.
Joshua Grimm that sounds awesome! Just tell us first what it is and I’ll run it by him!
I’ve got a TR-80 model 100 with case and some original manuals. It’s in need of some repair. May make a good episode. :) I’ll check out my stash this weekend and see if there’s anything else I could part with.
@@Joshua147 Cool! Email jon@redcowentertainment.com and frankie@redcowentertainment.com for a shipping address!
Why not just take it too the Genius Bar?
What is a “‘Puter Smith” exactly?
Nice find. I need to Hakko desoldering gun! I just found an IIe in a barn last weekend and it works! Got an Apple color monitor and a few floppies for it. The first floppy is not any good (I have a vid on my channel showing the nasties), but I have 3 more to look at, but not too worried about them anyway but for looks. Found a c128 and a 1581 and an Excelarator Plus. Both seem salvageable. I need to build a PSU for the 128 though. Since you live in the US, check out Tayda.com for good quality parts. I get most of my discrete's, sockets, and pins from them. All good stuff.
Very cool! I love the C128! Its one of my most favorite systems!
@@interactii Thanks. I am excited about getting it going. I had a Vic and c64 I bought in 82 and 83. I wish I still had them, but time and lack of storage then took them away!
I'm a big keyboard nerd and I want to know what kind of keyswitches Apple put in this machine. Was this when the used ALPS switches?
Oh and I see those IBM machines. You got any model M or Model Fs? If you do please do a video about all the old keyboards you got.
This one doesn't have the alps switches! I have a IIC Plus with them and they do feel nicer, but not really that much nicer. I think people obsess over them a bit too much!
Splinter Cell Junk.
“Wha..WTF”
But how does the mac taste?
A little dust and a bit like the hydrogen peroxide I retro-brightened it in :D
