In fact, the NYC-based NewYork Radio Message Board has mentioned the great KB countless times over the years as radio professionals used to tune it in to keep tabs on them. For a much smaller market, WKBW punched far above its weight class, didn’t it? Great times.
What was America's other great radio station? Perhaps the other station on 1520, KOMA Oklahoma City, which could be heard throughout the West and Midwest.
Many stations used "one of America's two great radio stations" so that they wouldn't sound like they were bragging. Of course, the never revealed what the other station was.
They played on double meanings in a few of their jingles. The 2 here was actually 'too' as in too great. Another is 'now radio comes alive, you're listening to KB' - 'now' radio as in new and current and also 'now radio comes alive' as in it used to be dead.
