First Time Blue Crabbing w/ hand lines and basket | New Hobby? Maybe 🤔

- Hey everyone,
I’ve been going through a rough time and I was like what can I do to get out of this house? And TikTok has been trending about blue crabs lately. I was like I don’t know how to get started never done it before. What do I do? So I did some research and got everything from Walmart and Dick’s Sporting Goods. It really wasn’t bad to get started. All you needed was some three-dollar crab nets from Walmart. I bought this string that has a weight and you can put a chicken drumstick or chicken neck on it which was like $1.50 at Walmart. Next, I needed a crab net so I went to Dick’s Sporting Goods and bought a crab net for $11.99. I’ve done a little research and seeing where I can possibly go crabbing. So I just went to the place and took a chance and I caught four crabs at two different places. I continued to do research so I could find better places, but I was kind of like embarrassed because I’d never done it before and I didn’t want people to stare at me so the location I chose was very remote and people would drive by, but there was nobody fishing around me, so it was really nice because sometimes I get insecure whenever I, do something for the first time. Great Crabbing videos, i been crabbing off that road for almost 12 years now, it has always been hit or miss, best spots are at the beginning of road near the restaurant. Or go to the actually beach near boat ramp
There’s a beach near Bayport? I need to find out where that’s at. I haven’t been back out to Bayou Drive but I know exactly where you’re talking about as soon as you turn onto the road that little spot where the drainage system is. I may have to give that a try. @@hopeflows10 continue down Pine Island Dr. to the end beach is there, thats where i do lives. Yes in that area but unfortunately that area is under Federal Restoration now
@@GadsdenFreedomOutdoors oh gotcha, I did drive down there, but you had to pay to get on the beach and I turned around. And everybody was very private about turning around in their driveways and there was nothing around there to crab at. I would not live back there. The flooding would be wild..

@@Timmlayton I think it’s a hit or miss. It depends on where you go. I went crabbing the other day in New Port Richey off of a dock at a park and I did pretty good. With chicken on a string and just regular crab baskets.
@@hopeflows10 nice !!! yeah that’s what I use I leave the chicken out in the sun. Few days before the crabs go right to it. Some hand lines and baskets.
It was only my second time and I caught eight of them. So I’m getting better and better at it. Google maps really do help find different locations. And I watched a lot of RUclips videos where people like this is a secret spot in Florida… I’m like OK, I’ll find the spot that you’re at no worries lol
