    It's fascinating how EVERY trader starts off with that one lucky trade picked randomly. Seeing how "easy it is" to quadruple your money is like the dopamine hit of a brand new drug. Then the drug wears off as you fail to repeat, but you keep chasing that high. Until finally it's not even about the high anymore. You just learn to appreciate the craft for what it is.

    Darvas' first book is absolutely phenomenal. It is even funny! When he starts to invest and makes every mistake in the book and always proclaims that he knows what he is doing and great riches are just around the corner.

    There are 2 important lessons in Darvas' book. One is his description of the mental and emotional journey he took in learning to trade. Every trader goes thru a similar learning experience, this book is a helpful guide or at least reassurance. The second lesson is his trading method, do not be dismissive, it seems simple but it works. If you are a technical trader at heart it will make sense to you, if you are a fundamentalist it won't, in that case it may be better to go elsewhere for lessons.

    Darvas used higher highs and higher lows with volume. That is the box. That is all. One tool that every capable technical analyst knows today.

    Darvas' book - always re-read it EVERY summer on vavaction along with Edwin Lefèvre book, Reminiscences of a Stock Operator.
    BTW, just out of curiosirty, how come John Boik doesn't mention any trades from 1962 to 1973? That's an 11 year gap.... Did Darvas stop trading??

    • @TraderLion
      @TraderLion  Год назад +2

      He traded throughout, his books don't cover as many trades from that period.

    A dancer buys few stocks that are at all time high, holds them as long as they are going up , uses a trailing stop and makes lots of money.
    Totally opposite of a day-trader scalping options on 5 minute chart.

    For Universal control, it rises 400% in a year. What stock/asset that can do like that in the past 10 years? maybe just crypto

      It's definitely an impressive stock in history, but there are plenty of stocks making similar moves! NVDA up 325% since October, SMCI up 339% since January. Numerous stocks in 2020/21 had over 300% runs.
