Miami is one of the first RUclipsrs I go to watch if I’m struggling with a mix and every tip he gives always works for me to finish it!!! We’re tracking vocals soon for our EP so this is super helpful! Thankyou Miami!
Another thing to consider is the sound that the singer is hearing won’t ever be the same even with the same headphones since the singer’s whole head is resonating with their own sound. Sometimes what sounds good EQ wise in the mix could sound unbalanced to the singer in the headphones.
What i really love about this channel is that u guys don't come up with anyoing repetitive vídeos about the same things like: "Use background vocal! Record a good performance! Balance your tracks! Eq your drums!!!!" Some RUclipsrs think the producer comunity is Dumb, u guys don't, really apreciate that
In cubase I always use Cue mix and hardware compression and verb ( none of which i print) and then feed cue levels of each subgroup. This means 0 latency when recording and i can check the artists levels on my own cans. And always record to a different channel for seamless punching in.
@@joeymusic and the best thing is i only need my Steinberg UR824 and a little headphones amp on the other side of the room, with the compression / eq / verb settings fully integrated in the mixer. Good to have the option of 4 different cue mixes if I need them.
Impressive vocals! I have tracked singers using only EQ+Verb on their headphone mix, but not compression. My thinking was that compression would make them less aware of their own dynamic inconsistencies and so less likely to impart the control they would want to. Any thoughts on this?
The minute I put the headphones on and turn on the mic, my confidence and performance drops to -10 haha I hate this phenomenon. Eventually I manage but it takes a while, especially with covers for some reason.
Do people ever sing vocals with just backing track in the headphones? Or maybe just effects? Even with one ear off listening to my own vocal through headphones sort of clashes with what I hear in the room
Hey Miami would you be down to make a video on setting up the perfect LIVE metal vocal chain? Everytime I rehearse with a band, I feel insecure because my vocals can't cut through all the loud instruments. Especially my low growls. Thanks!
I'm not sure why but headphones kinda kill the vibe for me , I'll only use one and have the other behind my ear at low volume . Of course I've memorized the beat before recording anything on it simply to it being on repeat for hours or days just depends lol .
Any video with Miami singing is a hit ! Keep the tips coming !

Just gotta say I love this channel always simple and to the point, wish I could subscribe more than once.
Appreciate that a bunch, Daniel!

I’d rather hear how things would sound in a mix IMO.
And thank you so much btw

Great tips and awesome vocals man!
Thanks bro. Gonna be doing a bunch more singing on the channel soon

@@joeymusic looking forward to it!

Use IEMS in ear monitors instead of headphones and two outputs on ur interface for listening
That’s def a way of handling that situation
-Miami
Vocal monitoring while I am singing is one of those things I still really struggle with. 😪
Yeah, it gets rough at times, hopefully this helps a bit

@@joeymusic it will be a help for sure. Just need to learn how to sing now. 😅

Does anyone else use an UA interface (w/ UA plugins)for tracking? To avoid bouncing the song?
Literally the only reason why I got it.
I know tons of people that take this route as well!
-Miami
Manley vox box and uad Apollo changes the game on latency. Even has auto tune if you want.
Gonna have to check out that plugin at some point. Always liked the hardware

Where is the Vocal EQ guide?
It’s in description! It’s a whole vocal guide. Skip to eq section

You going to NAMM?
Nah, I’m tapping out this year lol
-Miami
Yeah man it's hard when you can't hear the song properly!
💯
My dilemma is that I have many headphones but none of them are the same...
That can be fixed pretty easily tho! It will make things simpler I promise
