I remember watching this live it did feel like he was trapped for a lifetime. Watch his interview after this he had bandages on his hands after burns but he talked about how he got out when he nearly didn't. It truly was an act of God, also when he's trying to hop the guard rail you see the Marshall try to grab him but get moved back by the heat then Grosjean looks over his shoulder and the flames immediately recede

Watching this happen live was terrifying- he was in the car for about 30 seconds but it felt like a lifetime till we knew he was out!

Thankfully he did recover fully and was most recently driving in IndyCar. Not sure what he'll be doing for 2024 yet. I think if you want to learn more about the sport you should watch some footage of actual races/the rules around F1. Many of the F1 teams have RUclips channels as well that show their drivers doing challenges etc as well as more details on the running of the team and the sport.

The only reason he survived this is because by some miracle, the impact of the crash didn't make him unconcious and he was able the climb out of there on his own. If he hadn't done that he for sure would've burned alive in there as no rescue team would've been able to get to him before it were too late. He actually said in an interview, that it took him several tries to pull himself out of the cockpit because at the angle it was at, he had to twist himself out but his foot got stuck. If you look closely when he climbs over the barrier, you can see he's missing one shoe.

The only thing more crazy than that crash was the lack of injuries he had afterwards. From what I remember it was his hands that got burned and apart from a few more minor injuries, he was fine. I mean his hands were really burned, but ye know. . . . .I'm not sure you're supposed to be alive after things like that, so result. . . . . . and what a story to tell the grand kids 😬
