How to setup a Signal proxy

How to setup a proxy to use with the Signal messaging app.
This is the repository we use github.com/sig...
As an example I deployed a small Virtual Private Server in vultr.com running Ubuntu and deployed there.

Thank you so much for this tutorial, but I have a few questions:
1. I'm assuming you are running this in a VPS for security reasons? I probably should not port forward on my own router right...?
2. Will hosting this proxy automatically allow signal users to connect without a link, or do I have to share the URL people to access my proxy? Where would a good place to share the URL be so people without signal access can use my proxy?

@@CartwheelPig I used a VPS because everything is just simpler to setup. Yes, it's also safer, but my main concern would be sharing bandwidth with other people.
As far as I know, you'd need to share the address with people for them to be able to use it. The media will depend on which public you want to reach. I would try to reach locals on mainstream social media and allow them to spread the word.
