Same applies to a lot of things. I skated when I was younger, and I've played pool for 20 years. Back then there was nobody on RUclips to show you things. Now players progress so much faster with the help of online videos.
Facts.im learning at a faster rate than ever RUclips is a gold mine for skaters I might a been pro if I had it growing up cause I had to learn from not very skilled slobs and kinda had to self teach to take it further
This morning I was practicing axle stalls and first try I rotated too fast and over rotated. I did a BS disaster completely on accident but since it wasn’t what I expected to do I stepped off the board. Then after I did that I realized what I just did so I watched the video I recorded and it looked perfect.. wish I would’ve kept my foot on and stuck it but here I am watching this video so I can learn to do it on purpose 😂
Oh my God. Thank you so much. I never thought of it like a kick turn out of the ramp. I've always popped the shit out of mine. So sometimes I land all the way on the deck and slip into the ramp. I'm going to fix my back d this week.
I really like the way you explain the process of tricks. I'm the same age as the meaning of life (42), and your tutorials have helped me a lot with my progression. I'm way better now than I was when I used to skateboard at 10-14. My slams are a lot harder though. Picked up skateboarding again some 3-4 years ago. Last winter, me and my kids built a mini-ramp in the barn.
I never realised it was a switch rock happening in this trick that's really cool.. I am super comfortable doing rock 2 fakies but switch rock I have problem, not feeling the posture..
When I do switch rocks I have a different posture than a regular rock to fakie, I look into the ramp keeping my shoulders and head almost as if I was dropping in, but with regular rock fakies it feels natural to be backwards and looking back at the ramp.
Blinding man, extremely helpful. Love mini ramp skating, just got back into it after 20 years. The tricks are still a in my head but ironically it's my head, over thinking that's messing it up!! Anyway, cheers big styley. Ben from London.
Yo these tutorials are the best! Because it’s so down to earth you can actually teach and bring up lots of funky stuff that gets in the way of a skater making the trick happen. Awesome analysis and positive encouraging attitude, definitely gets you psyched to skate! Killer stuff!
I learned it by ollieing into it and it seriously feels so good. I like throwing the hips around more and getting the slight over-rotation and hip twist. I couldn't picture doing it the other way. Wouldn't feel as good to me i think.
I learned this today and something that helped me was doing it with my legs as much as possible. Keeping my shoulders as straight as possible and only focusing on rotating my legs made it so my shoulders didn't over rotate
I would love a video on popping them because I revert and over rotate my back disasters and I don’t really like the look, and do you also have any tips on how to keep my body on top of the board, because my board moves to the direction where I rotate but my body doesn’t follow it . You’re also a great teacher
If you learn to ollie in to it, not only does it look and feel much better, but it's way easier to adapt to different ramps and copings. Also you can learn various airs to disaster, but only if you can ollie in to them. I may be easier to learn without ollie, but it also limits that variations you could have done with it
ive been doing back d's for a year or so now and theyre always so far into the ramp that my back truck just makes it over but i never even considered doing it just as an overshot kickturn, i so excited to go skate and try that new technique! thanks man!
Ive taken a 3 year break from skating, when i came back to it, the local skatepark moved and got a huuge upgrade. Like its a really nice park vs before the change where it was sketchy af, 20+ year old ramps from when bangor maine first built a skatepark in the 90s(i think, not sure). But since ive got back into skating, ive learned a few new tricks on the double miniramp bowl spine thing, whatever it is. 1 kid taught me switch rock, had the thought of it being a fakie rock to regular. Thinking that it was fakie helped me, but i also wondered why it felt so uncomfortable, thats because it was switch and i wish i didnt think over what it actually was because now im just failing at it now. Next trick was fakie 180 pivot(?) rock n roll, then the third trick was a quarter step forward going into willy from that fakie 180 pivot. Heck maybe next up is that first combination to nose grind, thatd be sick. Also relearned this funny trick i did before i paused my skating, willy to rock n roll, gotta get fast with them tippy taps. Willy, tap into rock then roll out to regular. I would like to learn blunt transfer on the spine but i cant seem to get myself to do it, i feel like there will be a little drop from the wheels going over the coping to the tail slapping onto the coping and it will startle me and I’ll just slip out. The weird thing is that i can tail drag right out of a blunt onto the deck of the mini no problem so why cant i just go over the spine?
Can you do the ollie into back disaster version🙏. I prefer to do a small ollie because occasionally you can’t slide into it if the mini has super big coping. Like gnarly pool coping that sticks out far. So the ollie version works on any coping.
I’ll be trying this today. Never thought to do it like that. I always Ollie into fronside disasters. And it looks like shit my feet go all over. Do you approach frontside the same way ? Sliding into it.
And that´s a mini ramp?? Omg not for beginners! I'm able to do that because I'm able to backside fifty with a lot of control, from there is way easier. But, in a mini ramp with no cooping of course. ;-)
I am over 40 .. when I was young the good skaters were arrogant assholes‘...
No teachers ..
RUclips Tutorials are Great

Damn that 3 shuv variation was sick!
Your tutorials are very comprehensive, thank you
Thanks Jaelen, glad I could help
So i basically kickturn above the ramp and let the momentum of the turn lock me in the stall ?
Props to Chad..excellent teacher
Dude…. That looks like a fun ramp

Fronsides just came to me naturally but backside has always been hard for me. Awesome tips video man! Thanks
just found your channel, super helpful. Thank you, will be watching more.
Welcome! If you have any questions or trick requests let me know!
Love the mini trick tips you break it down different than others
I have nearly got it I just have to twist my shoulders more thanks for tips
Backside I power slide back wheels into it but frontside I can only Ollie into it. Such a great trick
Yo these tutorials are the best! Because it’s so down to earth you can actually teach and bring up lots of funky stuff that gets in the way of a skater making the trick happen. Awesome analysis and positive encouraging attitude, definitely gets you psyched to skate! Killer stuff!
Thankyou! Gotta be more comfortable with kick turns
I learned it by ollieing into it and it seriously feels so good. I like throwing the hips around more and getting the slight over-rotation and hip twist. I couldn't picture doing it the other way. Wouldn't feel as good to me i think.
Yeah, ollieing into a disaster is definitely more satisfying
Thank you, you’re a really good teacher
I learned this today and something that helped me was doing it with my legs as much as possible. Keeping my shoulders as straight as possible and only focusing on rotating my legs made it so my shoulders didn't over rotate
Awesome videos man. The BS Disaster is the latest trick I've been trying to learn. Almost got it.
I bet these videos are teaching the next big skater
Thanks chad

Good to know the proper way. I did this by accident trying to manual a pyramid n turn lol. It got my adrenaline going like a sum b!...
I found it very helpful, thanks. Most people tell you to ollie.

follow up comment: 3 years later and bs disasters are now my favourite trick and i do them all the time.
thank you chad!
Legend mate
Thanks for the video. Learnt bs disasters! Weren’t as hard as I thought, you just got to scoop and pop your deck and turn your shoulders.
Thanks brother. Loving you chanel!
Iv skated most my life still never took the time to learn these tricks i never was good at vert learning this stuff is so much funn tho
Thanks for the tips, Chad. I'll try!
Wow you are really good! I wish I could do that in a miniramp
Good description man , very helpful, keep up the good work

How do you do a backside and front side air over coping? A tutorial on it would be awesome. Thank you for your contribution.
super-helpful. thanks.
Aight I'm ready for the back side air disaster.
thank you!

Very good channel dude. Like to watch your videos.
Chad, thank you!!! I learned bs disaster in one day :)
P.s hello from Russia
Hey Chad could you do a tutorial on bs disaster bs revert out? Thanks!
You explain good! Thanks
Cool vid thanks for the tips
No problem Dylan
What should you do to prevent locking into a 50 50 and then going into the disastor, I always clip and it messes me up...
What do you do if your wheels keep hitting the coping
Very helpful! Thanks
I’ll be trying this today. Never thought to do it like that. I always Ollie into fronside disasters. And it looks like shit my feet go all over. Do you approach frontside the same way ? Sliding into it.
very helpfull - tnx
How do you get these higher in the air without landing on the top deck?
Legit watched this video and did it 2nd try after aha
I always land on the deck, i need to learn them in the ramp just like he is saying
Either my front foot comes off or i land very sketchy on my board, any tips?
Again:) cheers:)
Do you even pop or do you just let the momentum make you turn?
Just let the momentum make you turn
I always just fly out, any tips?
Try going a little bit slower and sliding your wheels a little more on the 180
Chad Caruso the legend himself still replies, I’ll try it tomorrow for sure
Pivot fakie or 5-0 fakie trick tip would be awesome
Good idea I need to work on that trick too
Definetly that nollie backside bigspin disaster cant get it down its been 1 year! ( a video on that por favor !! )
A lot of times I'm trying to learn an axle stall and I accidentally start to do a bs disaster. Might as well complete the trick.
did u get it?
Tried it once, slipped out, slammed my chin on the coping. Haven't tried it again for at least 3 years ! Maybe it's time I did..
What wheels do u ride in this vid?
Bones stf V5 55mm
Bones stf V5 55mm
I always revert out of it.Cant do it any other way
I still wanna see a how to Ollie into the backside disaster
I learned this accident
👍
Why can I kickflip back disaster but not this lol
We want big air bs disasters
And that´s a mini ramp?? Omg not for beginners!
I'm able to do that because I'm able to backside fifty with a lot of control, from there is way easier. But, in a mini ramp with no cooping of course. ;-)
Miniramp is any ramp without vert
who was the one disliking this vid?
Every time I tried a BS Disaster, I ended up in a BS 180 To NoseBlunt. Scaryyyyyyyyyy
