I used to be in Network Marketing, and people like him are a staple to many of them because he affirms things that they already believe and are taught. Therefore, he's a shoe in!
I got caught up in it as well. I even met Joel and shook his hand becauseof a NM event a lot of us went to!
Thank God that HE delivered me from that because I started to realize that what he was preaching & teaching, was all a part of the new age movement.
He never talks of sin or hell, because it's uncomfortable to him and if he does, he'll lose some of his following.

I left a church like his. When someone ask the preacher why he didn't preach on sin and hell his reply is I don't like scaring people and making them feel bad about themselves. uh..I would much rather be scared into heaven then be sweet talked into hell.

Where did Jesus preach on sin and hell? And HOW do you know what the preacher said - did he say it to you?
The ONLY time Jesus made an issue of SIN and hell was with the religious - like you maybe?
Church, and in particular SUNDAY, is and was from the beginning of the NT church, NOT a day of evangelism but of corporate worship - there is NO reason to attack any minister for being BIBLICAL.
If the church did what the early church did - healing the sick and preaching the gospel, with signs and wonders following - the CHURCH could go back to ONLY being a worship Sunday.
YOUR complaint is anti-Biblical on every front.

Are you sure you aren't telling a partial story? Your statement is absurd - FEW if any are ever are scared into heaven - those self-preservation, selfish 'converts' - 'THIS is MY lifesaver in case I DIE' types often do LITTLE if anything for the Kingdom of GOD. I doubt MOST are really saved.
Those that are attracted by the Grace and LOVE of Jesus, and spend hours in WORSHIP and communion with him, are the ones that stick it out and remain faithful all their lives.
And it is for them that SUNDAY worship exists.

The FACT of the SCRIPTURE I produced and the example of CHRIST - who we are supposed to follow - overrides the need for self-flagellation in Calvinist Christians.
The SCRIPTURE also rejects the constant salvation message being preached in the believers WORSHIP time:
Heb 5:13~ " 13 For everyone who lives on milk is inexperienced in the message of righteousness because he is an infant. 14 But solid food is for the mature, whose perceptions are trained by practice to discern both good and evil.
6 :1Therefore we must progress beyond the elementary instructions about Christ and move on to maturity, not laying this foundation again: repentance from dead works and faith in God, 2 teaching about ritual washings [baptisms], laying on of hands, resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment. 3 And this is what we intend to do, if God permits. That's NOT likely discernment my friend. I don't KNOW what it BUT the HOLY Spirit would never give you a bad feeling about the WORD of GOD being preached.
HOW do you know this was discernment? Have you ever been baptized in the HOLY SPIRIT as in Acts 2: 4 and other places?? DO you speak in tongues as Jesus said believers WOULD in Mark 16, and in 1 cor 12 - 15 and other places?- IF you do NOT have the elementary introduction to the Spirit of GOD, why would you rely on your 'feelings' as support for your opinion?

I think we are confusing Joel as a pastor to what he really is, a motivational speaker.
@ gilson gallego I absolutely agree. But I do listen to Joel Osteen as he has the ability to give encouragement not preach the gospel. I don't listen regularly to receive the word of God more so just encouragement. Again this is where discernment comes in.
But he himself proclaims the title of Pastor. It is his official occupation as recognized by the US government.
Then why is he in a church getting all the tax breaks that a church would receive? If he’s not a pastor he needs to change his title and start paying taxes and stop ripping people off. The government and his followers

I thought olsteen was a fraud at first but he is not a pastor nor a preacher nor a minister but a encourager we got to know the difference between the distinction of each one of them! Each one has its own purpose not one being the same! Nowhere in the bible does God call us to judge it is very dangerous and walking a very thin line! Easter 2014 (I believe) - I watched joel osteen every Sunday, I was homeless living on someone else's couch, didn't attend church but wanted to hear the word and gospel. I watched for a while, and Joel osteen is a great motivational speaker (think Tony robbins) but that all came to a crashing halt when that easter I felt convicted by God, so I turned in to joel's show that night. It was not an "easter special" and he did not mention Jesus once that night. He didn't read scripture, and did not mention the resurrection at all. I was flabbergasted and thought maybe it was a rerun? Nope. What did he talk about that night you ask? Prosperity and how "if you come to it he will bring you through it" ... His tag line for the last few weeks. That was as close to Jesus as he got that night. Needless to say the blinders finally came off and I swore him off ever since. Saddens me to know so many people believe he is a godly man. He's a wolf in sheep's clothing because of how he interprets and spreads his word. Here's a question for the joel osteen fans, why would a man of God stand in front of a revolving earth statue? Why would there be no cross or crucifix but you have on full display the world. A worldly man perhaps? What does Jesus say about being worldly? Joel won't tell you...

The Holy Spirit is transformational power of The Holy Spirit is Omnipresent. God sees and knows our hearts. If we truly seek the True one God; if we pray for WISDOM from God; He will reveal into our hearts. The last way I recieve God's liberty in believing or listening to beasts VS. God's true servants IS, I purposely pray and God's Wisdom reveals the Power of what I should listen to and not.

I agree with you on that! I was under Joel’s Dad’s teaching for 6 years! It was amazing 🤩! I sat under Joel’s teaching as well for 11 years. God moved us to the DFW area. I am not into the big name dropping pastors or Ministers. We are in a very small church now where we can contact the Pastor if we need to! I prefer to contact my Heavenly Father! I hear His voice myself! It was different! He is a kind person. But I would never send a new believer to sit under him! That’s where I stand! Because he has become a people pleaser! We must fear God not man! God Bless you!

It's really unfortunate. With his following. He has an opportunity to bring millions to Christ. I hope one day, before its too late. That he will get right with Christ. He can still encourage people the Biblical way, whilst also preaching on sin.
If he stop the feel good speech and teach the Bible, he would lose his followers and be hated for the sake of Christ, he loves the fame, money and feeling like a small god to teach Bible truth.

The message teaches a false positivity, unrealistic life goals, and self-centredness masquerading as self-improvement. That shtick gets tiring, particularly when this message so clearly fails many. Worse, he makes it sound as if God has destined these characteristics, when a quick glance at the Scriptures shows otherwise.

Yes, I first told my pastor back then where he was wrong in private and as soon as he heard that, he said "Christopher, you're going to die soon." I rebuked that, walked out & never came back. It's been 12 years, he was wrong & by saying things like that you're cursing someone, this why I rebuked it.
Unfortunately there are so many old folks who go to that church just because they've gone for 2 decades even though the previous pastor was a good one & the one who came after is just trying not to step on any toes (a clear change, which they should be able to notice).

Anyone who makes 40 million a year preaching the gospel is more a business man, the gospel is free.....
It depends on how the money is earned. Osteen has not committed any crimes to my knowledge, and much of his wealth comes from book sales. The issue is that his kind of theology is more lucrative. I would blame those who seek his surface-level sermons and fund that ministry, too.
@barb rarick You're right about rebuking him for not opening his doors to the victims of a hurricane. I also agree that his theology is very self-centred and materialistic. However, I do not believe the money is the issue. Many people in the Bible had considerable wealth.
@Ruth Bosquet Agreed. There's nothing wrong with writing a book that sells millions, or having a successful business with a turnover of millions. As much as I profoundly disagree with Joel Osteen's teachings, he is not forcing people to attend his sermons or buy his books and other merchandise. I don't care if he has $40 million in theory. What bothers me is the materialism of his teachings, and his slender use-- and more often, misuse-- of the Bible in order to support those teachings. I can understand if he is trying to ground Biblical principles in everyday life, but he more often begins with a materialistic attainment and then stuffs in Bible verses out of context to support that foregone conclusion. Too often, the message is about supernatural blessings, new jobs, marriage, healing... None of these things are innately bad, and there's nothing wrong with asking the Lord for help in those areas. However, that isn't the focus, and good results are not guaranteed in the Bible. As for Victoria Osteen's claim that God wants us to live extraordinary lives, that is patent nonsense. Has she read Jeremiah?
GOD GAVE US 613 COMMANDMENTS AND NONE OF THEM SAY WE ARE TO LISTEN TO CHRISTIAN PREACHERS OR CHRISTIANS PERIOD!
This is what's wrong with the American doctrine, that if a person is rich, and keeps it all to him- or herself, it's just fine. No, it is that person's right and responsibility to decide how to handle it before God, but it isn't scripturally honest to say that it is fine with God to hoard money, and not act in love to relieve some suffering that you could help with. No one, no matter how rich, can fix the world, or solve all its material problems, and yet other people's needs are real, and it is sinful to hold on to so much money, ignoring the needs of others, just so you can say your "net _worth"_ is really up there with the rich of this world. Sadly, most churches preach this doctrine of money: they tell the poor that everything they own is God's, not their own, then tell the rich man that everything he owns is his own. They do that to keep the tithes of the rich people coming their way. They try to exact the widow's mite from the poor, but they flatter the rich, so that they can be the ones to benefit when he gives to be seen as a wealthy benefactor, or to adjust his tax burden. In doing so, they don't tell God's truth to either party, and the preachers, themselves, get rich, as many of them are, now.

You do realize why Jesus said I must go first before I can send the comforter. When people realize why the comforter came they will understand who Jesus is, and why he came.

The bible reminds us to study his word, not just quote the odd verse. It's what the devil tried on the mountain. And it's great when your soul is rich because that means that you have the fruits of the Spirit (gal 5;22,23). It's just that you shouldn't deprive yourself of the other part of your inheritance just because you're scared of being greedy. Pray over the greed, and allow God to make you rich as your soul is rich.

Also, since Jesus is pour lamb wer no longer sacrifice. Oops gone are those laws. Those are the statues and ordinances talked about in Colossians being nailed to the Cross. Now you are basically down to the Ten Commandments and laws that violate them, i.e. sexual immortality, spiritualism, tattoos, . Read Leviticus and the books of Moses and eliminate all t of the priest and sacrifices and you will have laws, feasts, food laws and the such that where not nailed to the cross.
Now the worst thing that could have happened is they named it old and new testament. What word they should have used wad covenant. Our part of the covenant had never changed. In fact In Jeremiah and Ezekiel God said he would make a new covenant with his people. He would write his laws in our hearts and noti on tabkes of Stone. The fourth commandment. Whay day is it? The Catholic Church changed the law under their authority only. Read whay Isaih says in 56 -58 and I the last chapter on the Sabbath.

Please read this chapter it tells tells who is sealed with the seal of the the living God, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the creator. Anything other than this seal is Apostasy and the mark of the Beast. This seal is the same seal God had always sealed his people with. His seal before Babylonian captivity, his seal before crossing the Jordan into the promised land, his seal in 66 ad and his seal in the last days.

He has been with me and besides me through all my life. I can always depend on him and not family or friends. He is everything to me. I started my walk and got saved with JO, followed by Joyce Meyer and Creflo Dollar. As a new saved person, is what i needed. Then God took me to higher places. I now look back and can see how much i have grown. I would never bash them, the body has many organs and works different. Same as the church, but it is our job to continue to climb the latter and continue to grow, after all, the Holy Spirit should be our main guide, not men.
If they are in right standing, why did you need to climb the ladder? Shouldn't they have been growth enough for you? I do see your point though.

I still watch Joyce, she is not all "smiles and life is easy when you accept Christ." She doesn't make a penny off her sermons. All authors make money from book sales. She has never denied Christ that I have seen. The best anyone has against her is her statement on where Jesus went when He "descended to hell/the dead." My goodness, the Bible isn't crystal clear on that, to the point where different denominations phrase it differently. Legalism at its finest. :( I went to church my entire childhood and was never encouraged to read further in my Bible. It was boring and unrelatable as presented to me. I wish I had known Joyce back then. And Allen. And the Bible Project. And AoC Network. And Lion of Judah, etc., etc.
@@cconroy1677 Joyce Meyer is not preaching the Word of God either...before l was saved l loved her too...but when the Holy Spirit "opened" my eyes l instantly realized why l was never saved by any of them. She's a multi-millionaire with million dollar homes...fleets of Mercedes, private plans and multi-million dollar antique collection...she does ask people for money...and deceives and l heard her myself on an interview where they told her...alot of old people send you their rent money...dont you feel bad...she said "No l dont...personally l think they should know how to control their money." This was horrible...that's not from Jesus...she caters to "unsaved" people who think they are saved like l was...because l searched for God for 20 yrs with them...not one presented me with the Gospel or how to get saved. I hope anyone reading this is being careful and reading their Bible. Dont send these Millionaires your money...Jesus Christ is the only way to Heaven...Romans 10:9 "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." I was addicted to those attractive kind of messages that Joel gave and somewhere felt very convinced in my beliefs that God will never bring me any difficulties and even knew that ain't gonna happen so I kept looking for other pastors and found one who was exactly teaching the good news of the gospel

Yeah, I felt like at the very beginning of my walk, some of his teachings helped me understand some of the basics (which truthfully fed my flesh), but I quickly transitioned towards teachings that fed my spirit, and that’s where I found a powerful, deeper revelation of Jesus Christ.

Laura, me too. After reading and studying the Bible for myself, my spirit didn't agree with him.
Deborrah Barker Good question! The reason why I say he’s a no from my perspective is because when I was new (and very young) in my faith, I just wanted to feel good about myself. But when I started attending my home church (and reading the Word myself), I saw that Joel’s teachings are surface level and didn’t help me grow to the level I knew God wanted me to grow. If someone wants a “general” understanding of the character of God (his Goodness), Joel’s sermons would help with that to START, however, we should get to a place where we should desire to know much more about Him through a deeper understanding.

Thank you for speaking the truth in love! And maybe I’ve been slow to seeing but it’s seems that in the last decade. I’ve seen so many false teachers saying they are “Christians” but are twisting Gods word to appease the culture which is so infuriating. But man what they will have to face with all the sheep they are leading astray. I pray for those who think that you can be a Christian who is practicing homosexuality or a Christian who practices/follows a false teacher, or getting a divorce etc. that their eyes will be open to HIS truth. That chains will be broken and true repentance will happen!
