The kick is primarily all about the transient... that is where the perceived volume comes from. You loose bass sure, but that is where the bass line should sit. Bass eats up a lot of headroom... if you leave the bottom end from the tail of the kick in, you have less room for actual bass parts. Try it... less low end and your mixes will probably end up cleaner and louder.
@@MarulaMusic but u need the sub for clubs and to be bigger than the bases.. me im doing the lenght now and trying to find the best way of shortening without loosing base . is this even possible ?
@@andym7333 You can always add a little more bottom end after it has been shortened. Point is, you don't want it overlapping with other bass elements. Also, you don't need more subs for a club... just aim for a clean and loud mix. Too much sub will be just as bad on a club system as it will on any other.
