I'm not against power plants, we need them to live and they need to go somewhere.... but how did a power plant end up being beach side? Why didn't they build it further inland? Isn't that prime real-estate? Nuclear power plants need a lot of water, bu thats just a gas power plant, right? Why was it built there?
I know, it is crazy that there were 3 power plants built on the beaches of Oxnard. There was another one purposed but residents fought back and reclaimed their beaches. 2 of the 3 have closed and the third is set to close next year. This is a good article to read about it, www.latimes.com/local/lanow/la-me-ln-oxnard-coast-20170605-story.html. The Mandalay Power Plant is one of the plants shown in this video as well as McGrath Power Plant. Mandalay Power Plant was recently puchased by a developer but it is unkown what it will be used for. Residents recently saw some activity going on with lights on at night and a spotlight. Apparently they were filming a movie there with Paris Hilton, this has not been confirmed yet. We love that you are so involved with our video's! Keep the questons coming:).
There’s power plants on water all over the world, the water is used for cooling. It’s not just here. Even nice towns south of us have them. Where have you been?
Love the peek at the beach neighborhoods. Your candor about each area is appreciated. Going to be hard to choose from so many good options. Make sure to watch to the end!

@@livinginventuracounty1071 Its common to build power plants close to water in order to be able to use the ocean/lake for cooling of the plant.
