that cup is so pretty! when I do my waterslides I mirror print them and put them on upside down so much easier! just a little tip if you want to try it love your cups always so classy!
Beautiful cup. My spray painting technique involves going out to the stairwell of my apartment house cuz I cannot do it inside🤣. But the use of it as actual color is wonderful. Your cup looks seamless. TFS!
I would love to see your full process on what you do with the rim. I've only ever taped off my top rims, but I have two cups that I need full coverage on.
This cup is so perfect for a young girl. That water slides is just wonderful! Did you find it on Etsy? Thank you for this tutorial. This looks like a good beginner cup (except for the water slides, perhaps).
I'm new and loving the videos! It's giving me the confidence to try this. I can be bit "to much" detail at times. Is there a reference chart anywhere that would list the epoxy measurements for different cup sizes and stages for the project? I want to mix enough, but don't want to mix to much and waste it.
Hi Jessica! First would like to say LOVE everything you do, thank you for sharing your knowledge. I would like to ask you a question. So when I do glitter tumblers I’m using the mod podge method and last ones I made it seems like the seal at the top was not good, do you always sand and leave that little space at the top or do you epoxy all the the top part of the rim? Thank you in advance
I received my mask from a Honeywell employee as a gift. Here's a link to where you can get it. I have some more affordable options in my amazon shop (in description) but I have not personally tried those ones. Mine is pretty heavy duty. www.zoro.com/honeywell-north-full-face-respirator-threaded-s-760008as/i/G2999981/feature-product?gclid=CjwKCAiA44LzBRB-EiwA-jJipFSiF3Nu5OLGQh-f_0uou1Psw-fm5y10NzsjxWFFUplT1_qe-I8FzRoCcOkQAvD_BwE
I love your videos! Thank you for sharing with us! I would like to know how you created the first cup you showed, the one with the small hearts at the bottom! Tfs
I love your videos and I thank you for them. I too am curious about the rim and inside of the cup. I thought tape or something was needed to keep paint & glitter from inside the cup. Is there a video for that or a quick answer? THANKS AGAIN
Awesome.... thank you for sharing your knowledge! I bought those same sanding blocks you recommended and they are the bomb.! Question: do you spray paint the pink first then go over it with the white to get that faint pink color?
Hi! I absolutely LOVE your tutorials! Would it be okay to just sprinkle the glitter over an epoxied cup (epoxy method) instead of mixing it into the epoxy?
Thank you. I just added glitter to the epoxy for the first layer, then 2 layers of epoxy over that without glitter. So only the first layer of epoxy had glitter in it. I hope that makes sense :-)
Absolutely love your cups and tutorials. Have helped me so much! ❤️. If u don’t mind me asking were do you get your spice jars for the glitter? The place I used to get them from changed to a smaller size jar. 😩.
I would use 30ml of epoxy for a 30 oz with this technique. I don't use a chart for amounts, I've just kind of figured it out over the years. Generally I use 30-60ml for the first coat and 10-20ml for each layer after that depending on the size and design
I love thought how to videos and was excited to hear your a Washingtonian! Where do you get your shakers at I’ve been looking for good shakers for all my glitter
Hello! I love watching your videos! I just had a question though.. I am struggling to get the spray paint on smoothly. I had a couple runs so I sanded them out and I figured the glitter would cover the blemishes.. but I can still see blemishes in the paint after a coat of epoxy and a lot of glitter. Can I do another coat of epoxy and glitter or would you recommend I didn’t? I’m not sure how else to fix this issue :( your help would be greatly appreciated!
If it’s a translucent glitter like we used here you will see the imperfections. I would just remove the paint with some acetone and paper towels and try again. Remember to shake your paint for at least 60 seconds and spray from 10-12 inches away in sweeping motions. Don’t over coat. It’s better to do multiple light coats than one messy heavy coat
Thanks for this awesome video. How do you get your epoxy to dry that fast. Seems like I have to wait the full 24 hours before I can sand or even touch it.
Yolanda Mills thanks for watching! What kind of epoxy are you using? Alumilite curing in a 70 degree environment can be sanded after 8hours no problem.
Thanks for replying. I’m using the exact kind you are using. I make sure my measurements are correct as well. It could be that my work area are a little drafty in that room. I do keep my thermostat at 74 during real cold days
hey jessica B again lol on this video you said you did the 1st sand after the 1st coat but on a recent video you said do the sand after the 2nd coat.. i did a 2nd coat w/o sanding on my 1st cup which do you recommend or prefer??! thank you
Love!!! Why do you use coffee filters? I’ve watched all your videos and noticed you use them on every water decal. What’s the difference with coffee filters and paper towels? I am a crafter myself and use paper towels so just want to understand others techniques. Thanks! and as always amazing work
Hi Jessica, I noticed you only used a heat gun and no torch, do you get all the bubbles out that way? I feel that I had better luck doing that but recently started adding the torch too. TIA
Yes but not often. There’s a lot that can cause that it most likely happens from not enough epoxy at application or not smoothing it out really well. Also bubbles popping can cause it. Are you using a torch after application?
It depends on the epoxy and your current temperature/climate. I can usually stop turning my allumilite epoxy tumblers after 5 hours but wait 10-12 hours to handle them.
Did your quick glitter method today, it was so smooth as I applied the epoxy/glitter and after it turned for a few hours I noticed in some lighting it looks like my cup has cellulite (best way I can think to describe it). Like little bumpy waves almost. Any idea why?
Do you ever get any tiny bumps around your cup? after sanding down and epoxying my tumblers I seem to almost always get the tiniest little bumps around my cups.... I work from my garage so I don’t know if it’s due to the dust in the air?
Yessie Silva are you using paper towels on or near your cups? You might want to consider getting some kind of a large bin to put over them while they’re turning out there and see if that helps.
Yessie Silva yes definitely. Try using coffee filters only. Even when you’re washing your hands or equipment keep the paper towels off and away from your cups 😁

Probably not with the ombre effect since the whole point of doing it this way is so you can use one translucent glitter for the whole cup and use different colors of spray paint to create a glitter ombre effect. I suppose if you wanted it all black you could definitely put a fine, pretty sparkly glitter over it with this method.
Question on the recommender sealer.. Do you spray the sealer on top of the water slide once it is dry or on the picture before?? I clicked on the amazon link for the water slide paper and it says "clear acrylic sealer required to seal image" it might be a silly question but this will be my first waterslide.. thank you.
I have not been able to source one with a stable link because they sell out so quickly. You can find one by googling: "full face organic vapor respirator"
Hey jess love your videos girl...could you tell me what epoxy you use...I am currently using alumilite....and when I think its mixed well some times is real sticky after...i was disappointed first cup i did for my grandaughter... and it's still sticky after 3 weeks...
Terri Freehill the only reason it would be sticky after that long is a measuring or mixing issue. It should be completely hard and non sticky after 24hrs

I have a water bottle that has a wood pattern 😳. Do I have to paint the whole bottle white first?
Yes you would want to give it a light sanding first also
I always sand the rim down. Part of the reason I don’t like mod podge method is because that rim tends to be a little thicker and harder to sand down
I would love to know what kind of mask you are using. It looks like it is super efficient and I like the cover for the eyes.

you can tape off the inside but its really easy to clean it up with acetone and rubbing alcohol.
Hey there! I’m gearing up to do my first tumbler. I’ve watched your supply video…. Which tutorial would be the best for a first time glitter process?
Awesome.... thank you for sharing your knowledge! I bought those same sanding blocks you recommended and they are the bomb.! Question: do you spray paint the pink first then go over it with the white to get that faint pink color?
Cynthia Martin hey love! I spray the white first then I go over it with the pink around the edges then I go back with the white to blend a little bit.
Flynn Sisters Boutique Thank you!
Hi! I absolutely LOVE your tutorials! Would it be okay to just sprinkle the glitter over an epoxied cup (epoxy method) instead of mixing it into the epoxy?
Yes of course!
How many layers of epoxy and how many times did you add glitter to the epoxy? You have such great videos and stunning cups .

Questions….Is there any epoxy that you don’t have to use a respirator with? And why do you use the torch?
there is no 2 part epoxy that is safe to use without PPE since the exothermic reaction will always be toxic. the torch helps pop any microbubbles
@@FlynnSistersBoutique thanks for responding! Is there another option that can be used that will give you the same result that isn’t toxic ?

Love the video have a question if I’m doing a purple glitter cup can’t I prep with white n do the steps you did?
Britt Pooh so you’re doing purple glitter? If so, I’d do a purple base. Definitely not white 😊
Flynn Sisters Boutique so it better to spray paint the color your going to use instead of just using white

i did a 2nd coat w/o sanding on my 1st cup which do you recommend or prefer??! thank you
I know you used a waterslide on this tumbler, but what brand printable vinyl do you like best.
I never use printable vinyl for anything so I'm not sure :-)
Great video. Where did you find the vogue image to put on water slide paper?
you can find the image at autietay.com - this is a member's SVG
How do you get the spray paint so perfectly blended 😱
Triple J’s short sprays from far away 😋
Love!!! Why do you use coffee filters? I’ve watched all your videos and noticed you use them on every water decal. What’s the difference with coffee filters and paper towels? I am a crafter myself and use paper towels so just want to understand others techniques. Thanks! and as always amazing work
Hayley Lima thank you 🙏 I don’t under paper towels for much of anything that would effect the finish because they leave a lot of lint and debris
Stunning! Do you sell these? TFS
No, sorry. thank you tho!
I have a question after applying the waterslide do you have to bake or apply heat from keeping it from cracking?
No I epoxy over it
How are you able to wipe over your water slide? Mine would just wipe away. That’s why I am so hesitant to use water slides. 😞
What do you mean just wipe away? How are you sealing them? What brand are you using?
Hi Jess, where did you get the decal?
It’s from Auntie Tays member files
Hi Jessica, I noticed you only used a heat gun and no torch, do you get all the bubbles out that way? I feel that I had better luck doing that but recently started adding the torch too.
TIA
Can you only do this with white glitters or can you use this technique with darker colors also
Darker glitter will now show the paint you have below it or it will appear patchy with this technique so probably not.
Do you have a tutorial on the cup you showed at beginning of this vid?
choclitsuga yes, we’ll be releasing that Saturday
Why not silky waterslide to sanded area?
Because it will make your waterslide look foggy and you’ll see the edges of it
So you ever get fish eyes in your epoxy? I’ve been getting them in my tumblers and can’t figure out why other than maybe less than ideal epoxy
Yes but not often. There’s a lot that can cause that it most likely happens from not enough epoxy at application or not smoothing it out really well. Also bubbles popping can cause it. Are you using a torch after application?
How long do you let your cups cure?
It depends on the epoxy and your current temperature/climate. I can usually stop turning my allumilite epoxy tumblers after 5 hours but wait 10-12 hours to handle them.
Do you spritz your tumbler with alcohol after applying the water slide decal??
No I do not.
It’s that 7.5 ml each or 15 ml each
15ml total - so 7.5 of each
Where do you get your water slides, I want bob Marley, Betty boop, Kobe things like that?
Flynn Sisters Boutique After I sand them down and wash them off I use a paper towel to dry them off😬 could that be it?
Yessie Silva yes definitely. Try using coffee filters only. Even when you’re washing your hands or equipment keep the paper towels off and away from your cups 😁
Will this work with opal majesty?
Triple J’s you could try but it’s not a extra fine cut so that first layer probably wouldn’t come out as smooth in that first coat 🤔
I would love the info on you mask

How do you not get a buildup of epoxy on the lips of the cups ?
Thinner coats and make sure your cup is completely level on the arm of the turner.
Flynn Sisters Boutique thank you so much !!
how did you learn to do this
Watching others to start and some trial and error.
Hey ! May I ask where you purchased your sanding blocks from I didn’t see a link
amzn.to/2VBpbf5
Flynn Sisters Boutique thanks ! I ended up pausing the video and finding a 6 pack on Amazon for 8.99 lol
What kind of gloves & PPE do you use
Nitrile gloves and an organic vapor full face respirator
What is the purpose of the second sanding? Thank you!
to smooth out any additional bumps that might occur so that you get a smooth finish on the final coat.
I tried this and I got a lot of lumps that were rough mostly all over the cup. Is it better to just undo it and start over or can it be fixed?
I know this is an old video but im trying to start off and I really like all your videos and tips and everything.
How do you feel about brite tone?
I think it’s a great alternative to epoxy and there’s a lot of new creators making great content about it.
What brand of epoxy are you using? I couldn't finish one of mine with only 2 coats😭
Liz DiBenedetto I’m using Alumilite 😊
How do you combat micro bubbles in your epoxy?
I let my epoxy sit for a few minutes before applying, and I use a torch. Alumilite has minimal micro bubbles so it's easy to get them out.
Can you use any glitter on these cups
Transparent and iridescent fine cuts work best
Can you do a black tumbler with this method
Probably not with the ombre effect since the whole point of doing it this way is so you can use one translucent glitter for the whole cup and use different colors of spray paint to create a glitter ombre effect. I suppose if you wanted it all black you could definitely put a fine, pretty sparkly glitter over it with this method.
Question on the recommender sealer.. Do you spray the sealer on top of the water slide once it is dry or on the picture before?? I clicked on the amazon link for the water slide paper and it says "clear acrylic sealer required to seal image" it might be a silly question but this will be my first waterslide.. thank you.
You would print it and spray the sealer over the image 3 times, letting each coat dry, then cut it out and then apply it
Where did you get the waterslide image?
AuntieTay.com
Hey Jessica this tumbler is sooooo beautiful! I can not wait to try it. How can we find the image you used for your waterslide?
