- Located along the Salt River, between Roosevelt and Canyon Lake, Apache Lake offers seclusion and respite from the more heavily trafficking lakes in Arizona. Getting to Apache Lake and finding good spots to camp can be challenge. In this video I'll share with you some tips and logistics to making sure you have a safe and enjoyable trip while kayak camping this beautiful and secluded Arizona lake.

Just drove there from the phx side last Sunday
I was out there this past weekend. I ride and float and fish out there whenever I can. Favorite place. The road is much improved. I'm hoping they don't reopen the other direction though. And I really hope they don't make the road too good. Really need a check on the crowds out there. Apache is in great shape. The water was very clear last weekend while Canyon and Saguaro were already in their algae bloom. The fish are all fat and healthy. Really every animal I saw was fat and beautiful.

You must be a newbie at the lake. The lake was never busy with the old road open also. People were scared to drive it lol. They need to open it. Absurd to have to drive around.
@@CS-wp5dz You miss my point. They were talking about improving it to the point where it would become an easy drive and then the crowds would show up and make a mess of it.

Something I find interesting about Apache Lake is that according to the Arizona Atlas and according to when I let some fishing line out up near the dam, Apache Lake is 240 ft deep!!! Kind of scary! Also about 65 to 70% of the lake has no shoreline, just vertical walls which to me is scary!! There's got to be some monster fish living along the bottom of that Lake?!!

Have you heard anything about camping on Theodore Roosevelt Lake? The USFS site has a one sentence mention of boaters/paddlers being able to camp on several of the islands. Any ideas if this is true or if there are any good spots on the islands for camping? Thanks. Look forward to more of your videos.
I’ve never camped at Roosevelt or looked into camping there but that’s a cool idea! I’ll have to add it to my list. Thanks for watching!

@@copperstarkayak8072 Have you seen any maps that show all the shoreline campsites on Apache Lake that are only accessible by boat ?
When you say “boat” I’m assuming you mean one with a motor? I’m not an expert on this but when I look at Google maps I see there is one location called Burnt Corral (never been there) with a campsite and dock and then there is the main campsite and dock at Apache Lake. Those are the only two I see. Are you asking about a map that shows camping spots accessible by kayaks/canoes? I haven’t seen a map for that either. You just have to kind of explore the shoreline until you find a spot. Most of them will have a fire ring and a clearing to pitch a couple of small tents.
The lake is seventeen miles im a zoni &know every foot of it
