@GOALFishing Hey i am a disabled veteran and was just gifted a lifetime teton. I have not caught any yellows out at canyon. I have caught bass, cats, and bluegill. Where is a good place to try out for yellows. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Greetings! I just found your channel.. great content!... These bass seem to be really well trained, they even self- NET! .. Hope to see ya out there this spring. I'm in a yellow Intex kayak with WAAYYY too much gear in it😄... God's Speed!
Gringindio - The options are a little bit limited, I know that we have done a cotton/poly blend, but most drifit materials are mostly polyester. I just posted a cotton poly blend shirt today in 1 design for someone else. Don’t know if that will work for you or not.
G-O-A-L Fishing As you know... AZ is turbo hot... 🥵 I like the long sleeve drifit shirts like the “HŪK” shirt you wear for when I’m spending a day out on the boat. They are cooler and dry faster than other materials. But.... just to help support the channel I may lower my standards a bit and settle for a cotton/poly blend... 😜
I stumbled across your videos today .. sat and watched a goodly number of them. I like your attitude of just feeling the tug is the drug we crave. Hope I Get to see you on the water some time. Good job with the videos - please keep them coming :)
Yo im from az an i want everyone to catch em like you. when i was at Saguaro lake i use a rosster tail an we where slaying the yellow bass caught like 40 between two of us an only kept maybe 12 and they were so good fried up
@Jerry Kosirog I haven’t fished canyon much in the winter. The only bank fishing I have done at canyon is at the acacia recreation site. As far as baits I would fish something pretty slow like a Texas rigged worm or a drop shot. Jerk bait and crank bait would be something else I would try too.
I will be taking my nephew to this area for shore fishing thanks to your other video. Wanted to know if there was something local to Mesa to also take him just to catch sunfish and catfish. Thanks.
Sparrow415 to BKK most of the urban ponds have catfish and sunfish. It’s been a while since I’ve been to any but I’ve done good at red mountain lake in the past.
Do have a video regarding your kayak setup? Specifically ... you keep putting your keepers behind your back into a "cooler". What's your cooler setup? Why a cooler instead of a stringer?
Tod Hegstrom in the heat the meat spoils. The ones you catch early in the morning are no good later. The cooler with ice keeps them from spoiling. The cooler is nothing special, just something I had already. It does fit pretty good though.
G-O-A-L Fishing ... Yup, understand the spoilage challenge. Just trying to understand your method vs a stringer in the lake. Do you throw ice cubes in the bottom or are you using something else that stays frozen longer?
Tod Hegstrom I like to use some frozen bottles. They last longer and there’s less of a slimy mess. When ice cubes melt and mix with the fish it’ makes a slimy mess
Yes got into some yellows from shore, at canyon lake, by the first bridge crossing pulloffs before I got my float tube setup. Good spots are off rocky points
Jake Martin it’s tough. I should have switched the blade bait to the bait caster and the little crank on the spinning rod but I wanted the braid for jigging to get a better hook set. Not the recommended combo for the little crank but I just made it work the best I could.😂
Great video man. Thanks for showing us all the cool spots and methods. Quick question. How do you prepare and cook the yellow bass? Never mind. I just found the video 😁
@Pickem And Flickem, I've never tried anywhere but the salt river chain of lakes, but you can always do a little research and find out if there are any around you that have them. they are a fun fish to catch.
Hey Jake just found your channel. I'm a new sub great content. I always fish canyon for a close to town fishing trip. If you don't like boat wakes why not try the "boulder cove recreation area", versus accaia beach Then again, I never got into yellows in boulder cove.. I'm thinking they like the main lake and rocky beaches and points more? I got a few yellows before on a smaller Panther Martin in-line spinner too on the main lake. I want to try those Cabela's blade baits now
@@GOALFishing Boulder cove is just like 5 minutes down the road from Accaia, right before the marina area bridge ok check it out. If you get to the marina you went past it. No wake zone back there and no motor boats but lots of paddle boarders and kayaks of course, I use a float tube. I only got into bluegills, green sunfish, largemouth, and catfish so far. I was throwing wooly buggers and nymphs at the time, maybe that's why. Maybe wrong time of year. Not really sure why no yellows for myself back there yet but I'm confident you could find some. My only guess is they like the main lake terrain better. The green sunfish fight good look cool and I hear they are good table fare too. Maybe do a episode back there sometime soon. Best regards.
I saw another youtuber, go in a yak all the way up Tortilla creek arm via boulder rec area.. he did eventually get into a couple yellows but not as good as your spots
@@ericbonofacio4695 that’s awesome! I still have a lot of the lake to explore still! The spots I have fished are really close to the recreation sites. This time of year can be tough so that is probably why he didn’t do as good.
Hey Jake, you should download Fishbrain it’s basically like Facebook but for fishing hahaha. Oh also I didn’t catch anything at saguaro too many boats cruising this weekend was. It a good time.
Hey thanks for your vids. Just got my first rod/reel since I was a kid. I know next to nothing about fishing but am learning a lot from RUclips. I’m here in AZ too so your vids are perfect. Wanting to get a kayak soon too! Thanks again, informative stuff.
Love your channel

Woo hoo for “Jakes tackle box”!! Thanks for sharing... love the videos! Keep them coming... Sore lip ‘em all!
Gringindio - Thanks for the inspiration on what to call that portion of our videos. It’s much appreciated!
G-O-A-L Fishing What are friends for?! Hey, are you guys able to offer your shirts in “drifit” material? The only ones I see are cotton...

Gringindio - yeah I’m right there with ya. Unfortunately the fulfillment company we use for the shirts doesn’t offer anything as nice as that shirt.
12:52 a giant fish jumped right behind you as your camera died
Nice i love yellows thr my favorite pan fryers!
What is the limit on yellow Bass if you don't mind what kind of lure you used for the yellow Bass
No limit in AZ on yellow bass and I like to use a 1/4 oz mean eye blade bait in black and chrome.
Nice haul Jake!
Shari Boylan Thanks!
5:04 is hilarious
What kind of kayak do you use
Thanks for sharing what you used.. 👌
Miguel Rodriguez you’re welcome! Hope it helps you catch em.
Great job on those yellows. Been trying myself with no luck.
Caught it Outdoors thanks! Where have you been trying and what have you been using?
I’ve been fishing by the marina second bridge for a few years but don’t catch any lately. Any other hot spots you know of ?
I enjoy the content! Love your relaxed explanations. Also very informative! Keep up the great work. I love love to give you one of my handmade cranks.
El Brujo thanks! I’d love to give one of your handmade cranks a try.
Are you on Instagram or Facebook, I can message you there

Can you catch yellow striped bass from the shoreline too or you have to be offshore? If so, where would be the good spots? Thanks.
koolraul garcon yes you can. One of my favorite places is canyon lake at the acacia recreation site

What is the limit of yellow bass there, what about saguaro. Great videos man !
@mauriciojan181991 thanks for watching! there’s no limit on the yellows at canyon and saguaro. Catch away!

Dang must have been hard! Do you carp fish at all? Just wondering because I carp fish all the time and it's rare to find other carp anglers around.

Do you need a fishing license to fish ? Sorry for the ignorance I’m new to fishing
@FUNKYLACE yes you need an AZ fishing license
Change your hook, you won't lose as many
You’re right, I have to go get some better hooks and replace them on a lot of my lures, I just haven’t gotten around to it yet .
