All the Colors of the Dark is a long slow read. I almost DNF’d it too. I did love The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry so much more than Tomorrow . . .
The Storied Life of A. J. Fikry is one of my favorite books!! Totally brought me to tears by the end!! So glad you enjoyed it!
Omg, I loved All The Colors and God of The Woods. I read AJ a few years ago and absolutely adored it. And Strange Sally Diamond. My top 3 for the year, LOL. I think the writing just isn't your thing, I adore that style.
Not me giving The God of the Woods 4.5 stars lol… maybe I need to pick up that other one.
I do agree though that it was slow. Although I was in the right mood for it, I think.
Forget Me Not is my favorite romance of the year! Soto's second book, Not Another Love Song, is also amazing (my 2nd favorite romance of the year)!!

I’m curious, have you watched the traitors UK? I’m from North America but in my opinion it is just a superior version to the traitors USA. There are so many fun plot twists and moments. Highly recommend if you haven’t already seen it!

- after trying to read the god of the woods - ive discovered i dont like literary thrillers despite loving literary everything else haha makes no sense.
I just gave up and DNFed All The Colors of The Dark yesterday! Hearing your feelings helped me feel vindicated because I was really looking forward to this one too.
I am SO happy you loved "The storied life of..." I was emotionally preparing myself for you not to, :-) Young Jane Young by the same author is also good.
I dnf’d 20% into All the Colors of the Dark. I just got bored and could not vibe with the writing style. I also would get confused cause it went back and forth so much.
I did enjoy the short chapters like you said.
I don't know whether you picked up on it, but The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry is a retelling of or inspired by a classic novel. I won't spill the beans in case there are others who want to read it, but haven't yet.
Forget Me Not was my first ever 5 star romance and no one was more shocked than me 👀
It was wild because it had so many things in it I don’t usually vibe with but I kept LOVING every part of it 🤩 it really showed me that I need to keep trying things I think I don’t like lol because every now and then I’ll find the perfect exception!

I'm pretty sure I've read The storied life but I don't have it listed on Goodreads. All I know is that I recognized the story.
All the colors of the dark would have been a great book if it was just 300-350 pages.
I agree about The God of the Woods. DNFed it, didn’t like or connect with characters, got bored.

I cant trust these books people (not her and select few) praise and it's actual trash. Or when books are pushed as a thriller (like Middle of the Night) but it's a domestic fiction with a dash of occult.
oh my gosh, there's two mochinuts near me and i keep up with their rotating flavors every week lolll. ours actually do two flavor rotations per week (3 days each). Blueberry yogurt has been an unexpected favorite so far

At the beginning of the used book store shopping section, you picked up a book called Another Day by David Levithan. It’s first book: Everyday is one of my favorite books of all time. I said it was my favorite book in middle school and would recommend it to my friends and they all loved it. It’s about this being “A” who wakes up in a new body everyday. The first day they are in the body of a boy named Justin and A meets Justin’s girlfriend Rhiannon and falls in love with her. Throughout the book, you see A trying to get to Rhiannon no matter what body they’re in. It’s a story about acceptance. I think you would like it as this girl doesn’t see gender/body type/looks in their partner; they see a personality and a beautiful soul. I would love to see you read it. The chapters are short and you could definitely read it in a day.
I read Everyday sooooo many years ago, but I enjoyed it! But I haven’t read Another Day yet!

I DNF’d All The Colors also. I didn’t enjoy WBATE that much, so I just don’t think that author is for me. I’m glad other people love it though. 😊

I loved Forget Me Not! I live close to Sac so it was so much fun having it set there. I absolutely loved her second book too. If I remember right, Not Another Love Song is a bit steamier, but the characters are top tier for me. Also, Julie is coming out with a YA thriller next year called The Thrashers.
