Hey all mixed OST from both games. I'm missing two boss songs, because I didn't want to go start the game all over again... Also Been awhile since I've played The Messenger so... I'm abit rusty. EDIT: Correction, the level up screen is not music box, it's Sunken Shrine. I'll need to make another video to correct that...
Absolutely loved that you did this. Currently playing both The Messenger and Sea of Stars. Definitely noticed the music, came here to see if someone did a video on it and here we are. Thanks!
I highly recomenda it. If you enjoyed the messenger this is a big love Letter to that game in a lot of ways and has such good story and just plays like a dream. The music is just 🤌
I entirely missed that those two games were connected in any way until I saw this. The Messenger is one of my favorites. Sea of Stars was already on my list of things to get due to the combat systems giving me heavy Mario RPG vibes, but the music shoots it to the top of the list for sure.
i love finding out when a game i enjoyed is part of a larger universe or narrative! I played SoS first and didn't know anything about it other than it having gorgeous pixel art, and then seeing that it's set in the same world as The Messager was great.
I know this comment is a year old but might as well spread the info anyways. Sabotage studio have said that every game they make will be in this series
There's also Ruxxtin the Great and Might of the Necromancer (Romaya's rematch theme). As well as The Clockwork Concierge (TM), and The Clockwork Castle (SoS).
@@NovaBushido tbh I didn't realize it myself until I did my NG+ run of The Messenger the other day, and I probably wouldn't have caught them either if SoS wasn't so fresh in my mind.
The first time I knew this game was going to be a banger was when I heard the Coral Cascade sountrack, then second time was when I heard the Glacial peak soundtrack
I think you're defo correct on the Level up theme, opening maybe a mix of both. When I was making the video, I recorded the footage but forgot in my mind what I was trying to link it to. I'm going to have another vid to fix that last part.
Honestly, certain things in The messenger is gonna hit harder now after playing sea of stars..and it can actually work both ways, certain things in sea ofnstars made me do some double takes as well..
Eric W. Brown aka Rainbowdragoneyes delivered. I'm a big fan of the OST from The Messenger and it's nice to hear these remixed versions in a new game environment. But I kinda hope Sabotage Studios next game will get another setting and soundtrack, so we can listen to something completly new. :)
I don’t wanna be rude but here are some comparisons you may have forgotten (do note that I can be very, very wrong.) Detritus Born (SoS) = Detritus Risen (M) Might of the Necromancer (SoS) = Ruxxtin the Great (M) Clockwork Castle (SoS) = Clockwork Concierge (M) So basically just missing some of the Messenger boss themes.
Not rude my guy, I've already noted down below in the description and comments I didn't do the boss ones because I going back and completing both of them in both games would be kinda long, my bad
That's very interesting, if you've played the messenger you could tell Sea of Stars has a lot of those ascepts in the game. Although it's not very clear how things fit with each other, I'd like to see more of that in this DLC.
Neat stuff :) Although I personally think the level up theme sounds more like a specific part in Sunken Shrine, def have a close listen to the two if you get the chance :)
@@NovaBushidoYeah it's specifically supposed to sound like that theme since sunken shrine is where you meet Luana and Solen. This video would be perfect if you edit out the music box part and replace it with the melody that plays in sunken shrine!
@@NovaBushido Actually: The entirety of the Ancient Crypt theme IS the Sunken Shrine theme, as well. I won't say that this isn't wrong, because it still carries a bit of truth to it due to all those connections.
It was probably a reference to the fact in the messenger the shop keeper tells you it's a chill level with no boss, so it's their way of recreating it, a nice scenery, few treasures and no worries.
que genialidad meter canciones de the messenger en sea of stars ,pero muy mejoradas claro , yo solo reconoci una ,todas las demas me ha pillado de sorpresa ,solo me acordaba de esa ,que makinas estos de savotage
Oh wow! I recognized many of the references while playing, but not all of them. I didn’t pick up on the Level Up / Song to Break the Curse connection as the latter was late game in The Messenger, so not as much time was spent there. That’s fantastic.
Never heard the messanger ost so never knew what tracks were familiar in sea of stars. But I have to say, the slight change in sea of stars ost feels even better
I didn't play the messenger, but I played and cleared Sea Of Stars. I used to think that Sea of stars have good OSTs, but after hearing this, I am completely disappointed ... All of the songs I liked from Sea of Stars (excluding battle BGMs) because they have good melody and upbeat tempo, are actually based from The Messenger. I totally understand if you want to bring some cameo or nostalgia from your previous game by bringing one or two songs, but OMG these many?!? Now I can't help but feel that the devs are being lazy, Do they lack budget or time to develop Sear of Stars ? That will be the only decent excuse I can think of but man. . .
It's not them being lazy, the two games are in the same universe, and they play the songs for the same zones, that just makes sense. There are plenty of new songs in Sea of Stars as well.
It's the game made by the same studio and The Messenger is in the same universe, they use the same music and maps to represent that fact, nothing wrong with it.
love how autumn hills is pretty much the same layout in both games
I rememeber the first time I got to the Frozen Peak in SoS.
MY GOD, I started screaming out of happiness

I'm yet to play sea of stars, but i loved the messenger. It's nice to see the music has been upgraded, more people deserved to hear those osts
i hate turn based jrpg like games but this oooooh this game is goood
I highly recomenda it. If you enjoyed the messenger this is a big love Letter to that game in a lot of ways and has such good story and just plays like a dream. The music is just 🤌
Oh my God you need to play sea of stars I highly recommend it

In the second half of the Messenger, you find on of the note in a temple with the Sun and Moon symbole. Even before SoS, it was a thing

Both opening theme and Level up theme are much closer to Sunken Shrine leitmotif though. Despite having similar soundfont to Music Box

I went in to Sea of Stars completely blind and let me tell you I felt like I was 12 years old again playing my first RPG❤❤❤❤❤❤ 10/10

@@NovaBushidoSorry, I am blind.
The Solstice Shrine theme is missing from this comp. But it's easy to forget, it only plays once in The Messenger.
This is Exactly what I was looking for I am very into the music 😅
great work on the Awesome video !
Sea of stars Will have a DLC AND the Messenger Will be included. They have said that both games are the same world but with 1000 years of diference
That's very interesting, if you've played the messenger you could tell Sea of Stars has a lot of those ascepts in the game. Although it's not very clear how things fit with each other, I'd like to see more of that in this DLC.
the frozen peak and the frozen light/dark are my favourite!
I found out that a little portion of the music "Descant of the Dweller" uses a little portion of the music "Autumn hills boss"
Eric Brown is a godlike compositer
Neat stuff :) Although I personally think the level up theme sounds more like a specific part in Sunken Shrine, def have a close listen to the two if you get the chance :)
You maybe right on that one actually.

And the level up theme
The true way to enlighten one's soul. Play both of these amazing games. Then watch this whole dang video
Bamboo creek was done so dirty in sea of stars, I just wish it was a full area with a more action based theme
It was probably a reference to the fact in the messenger the shop keeper tells you it's a chill level with no boss, so it's their way of recreating it, a nice scenery, few treasures and no worries.
cant forget that the clockwork concierge battle and the clockwork castle share a melody!
Very nice work ! I think Kiln Mountain OST is also reminiscent of Basalt Assault from the dlc
Oh hey, The Island it's on is called Basalt Island! There's a connection!

De hecho es que son las mismas zonas. Es una precuela

Level Up is actually a tiny piece of the music from Sunken Shrine, not the Song to Break the Curse
@@AmekDzbanekAh. My bad.
Yea I was wrong on that one.
Never heard the messanger ost so never knew what tracks were familiar in sea of stars. But I have to say, the slight change in sea of stars ost feels even better
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmnaaaaaaaah xD
I would have sacrificed the inclusion of all of them for Howling Grotto and Searing Crags, two of the greatest video game tracks of all time imo
Thank you!
the fights against the necromancers is also the same
I’m sorry but someone came to WORK on songshroom marsh
