- this is a tried and true method for clearing non active codes on the alfa romeo giulia and stelvio.
non active codes and check engine lights mean you have a check engine light from a condition that has since been fixed.
an example of this is after you replace a dead battery or after hooking up your battery when disconnecting during a service. the dead battery or kack of battery connection condition that causes the check engine light is no longer present so you can use this method to clear the code.
another example would be if you had a brief overboost or under boost condition that causes a check engine light but you rectified the cause. this will work to clear the code.
it will not clear codes for conditions that ate still present and causing the check engine light.

An absolute life saver 👍👍🫡🫡. Dead battery on my Stelvio Quadrifoglio- tons of warning codes!! Battery recharged and reconditioned, did the start/stop, accessories press x7, steering wheel left and right and bingo, codes gone, mode selector working as it should and engine warning light off.

Man this is a life saver, I had my front bumper replaced and painted. I picked the car up drove one mile and Electronic Throttle Position sensor amoun others were on and the car was in limp mode. I was freaking out blaming the body shop. After watching your video I disconnected the negative terminal and waited one hour. I had to do this reset process and it worked no more lights and the car looks and runs perfect now! Thank you for this video your awesome!

What is the accessory mode
Now i have a throttle light on and my DNA button isn't working. I took it in for the same problem and the dealer said they just had to reset the codes. I wonder if I could do it myself. I did this code reset and it got rid of the little check engine light but not this throttle light
If it doesn't work clearing the throttle light there is something wrong with the car actively setting off the fault code. Id read the code with a scan tool and write it down so you can be knowledgeable about what the dealership should be fixing
This helped me! Is there a reason of why the engine light and start stop button would turn on randomly? If the lights cleared after following this procedure, does it mean my car is fine?
It could be something as simple as a battery that got below the necessary voltage or it could be an intermittent fault that once it gets worse then you'll have to get it fixed because the light will stay illuminated and something actually needs to be repaired. If it comes back I would scan with a scan tool for the code that is causing the light to go off and that will tell you if it's a real issue or something simple
@@bhvrdr thank you for the feedback! I bought this car 2 weeks ago, it has 15,000 miles and it's a 2019 TI sport. Love the car but this light thing already scared me. Will probably have to invest in a scan tool! I did get an extended warranty for it so that might come in handy

Yes that resets the steering wheel fault code
so if you clean the codes the scanner can not find them any longer ?
Only if you clear them with a scanner. Doing this just resets the faults. The codes will still show on scanner if the codes are still causing issues. If they were just low battery related codes then yes they clear themselves
Didn't work for me. Mine has an A! & a ⚡. Now I do a 10 times on off and clears them but then when I drive it comes back
It will only work if you don't still have an active issue causing the CEL. You need to read the trouble code and fix the problem.
Most important part you forgot was cleaning the battery posts and clamps first. Secondly you don’t need to turn it on and off seven times you simply need to turn it off once and back on running after you do the full left and right steering lock turn.
As you can see in the video turning lock to lock does not always clear the code at all. I have done that and nothing. Doing the start stop x7 is the easy way that works all the time with non active codes. Dealer techs use this method

Is there a way to clear the electric parking brake in order for it to reposition?
The parking brakes work off of the hydraulics in this one so the engine has to be running to disengage
If all is well you should just be able to start it and drive it should clear all the codes next time you turn off and restart car
I had the same thing happen after an oil change did these steps cleared the service engine lights. Do recommend still taking in to be looked at
i see no matter what you do u will always face light in the dashboard ,(missing air from tyres)
Any tpms codes go away after driving if yu have air in the tires at the correct pressure

Does this work to clear the check engine, automatic start/stop unavailable? I only got the check engine after I ran out of gas and got the error electronic throttle control warning light. I got gas, that error went away but the other two didn't and it's not allowing to let me switch into the other modes.

Turn on the car left lock right lock, center, turn off the car, turn back on.
Sometimes works. Most of the time it doesn't. I did that plus drove around 10 miles and they didn't clear.
Not working at all. Recently had my bumper replaced and ever since I've had issues but nothing at all beforehand not a single code. Im legitimately considering selling it it's ridiculous
This is bullshit… just tried it on my Alfa Romeo Gulia 2.0L Ti sport and it didn’t work at all, I had better luck taking it to O’Rileys and having them use a code clearer with an OBD port for fuckin free😅😆 Do whatcha gotta do lmfao
It will not clear hard codes as indicated. Just temporary soft codes
Do they clear the hard code the the electric parking brake?
@@justinnnnnn4945 only if the fault is no Ionger present. If its from changing pads and the brake was disconnected you may need a pro scan tool

Thank you so much, I replaced the battery of my son’s car and he was very upset because of the error codes, I did your procedure and all lights were turned off and now my son is very happy because we save $250.00 that wanted charge the dealer and he has his car back and I am most happier than he.

What is pressed? How long? In what order?
These self professed automotive geniuses have no clue on how to impart their Instruction.
