Guys!!! I am back from my honeymoon and ready to put out content like crazy!! I hope you are ready for what I have in store! I missed you all! Please let me know what you would like to see next! ALL LOVE
If you watch a video of the original Broadway actress Indina Menzel singing this song, you'll see that Mitch actually sings a higher note at the end than she did. He's amazing in this video - they might be playing around, but Mitch's voice is no joke!
When Pentatonix was formed, they realized that they were 5 very different people who had different, but overlapping, interests. The agreement was that Pentatonix (which is basically rated PG) would do the overlapping songs but everyone was free to work on whatever side projects as long as PTX came first. Scott and Mitch did Superfruit. As you say, it's more loose. and it's not PG. Kevin does his own solo work. Mitch is now doing songs as Messer. Kirstin was on Broadway and has now opened a business selling candles and such. Avi opened an A Cappella school. Matt sings on a gospel album his church released. They all do their individual thing in addition to PTX.
Scott asked Mitch to do this for his birthday. There are a number of videos showing singer's who headlined Wicked around the globe. Have to tell you Mitch's performance tops them all. The majority don't even try for the high note he hits at the end. Scott's range is amazing as well once you see him cover the base line when Avi or Matt were singing their solo in a song. There are also videos out there that illustrate their ranges top to bottom or bottom to top leaving you appreciating the infinite talent of every member of PTX more than before - when I didn't know was possible!
Wicked is a retelling of the story of the Wizard of Oz from the wicked with of the west's (Elphaba) point of view...absolutely a fabulous Broadway musical originally voiced by the fabulous Kristin Chenowith as Glinda and Idina Menzel as Elphaba. This song is rated as one of the most difficult show tunes to sing because of the range required and hard to imagine anyone other than Mitch that could pull it off so well. You can really see them show their musical theater chops with both the voices and their performances here. And as awlays I love the outtakes at the end. Check out their Frozen and La La Land medleys, also including Kirsti Maldonado as a guest performer. Congratutlations to you and your wife on your wedding!
This is a segment from the musical called Wicked about the wicked witch (Elphaba-Mitch) and the good witch (Glinda-Scott). Mitch kills it with his acting and his vocals! They are so fun! This one doesn't match your energetic reactions, but I'm here for it! Thanks for reacting to this one! Would love to see you react to Superfruit's Frozen Medley (Scott's wig makes an appearance) or their La La Land medley!
Greto, next time, please don't focus so much about something that really isn't important !!.....yes, we all see the bad green make-up job.....get over it !!.....LOL

From Wicked, Broadway show, back story Witch of West
I think this perfectly showcased Superfruit - they take music seriously, themselves, not so much ;-)

One of my favourites! They're so fun. Frozen Medley is great and has Kirstie in too.
next up: Superfruit Frozen Medley 🔥🙌🏻
Once Mitch opened his mouth to sing the first note, I forget all about the makeup and wig. His voice is transcending...
From the nusical "Wicked", with Mitch playing the wicked witch of the west Elphaba, and Scott is playing the good witch of the north Glenda.

Wicked is Scott's favorite play. For his birthday he wanted Mitch to do this song with him.
