Had a very experienced Unimog technician change the belts on my 1300L last year and he went by the twisting method. But he sure has changed hundreds if not thousands of belts on 352 and 366 engines in his life, so he just feels the right tension. Thanks for sharing those great info and procedures, Chad!

There is a much easier technique getting belts on and off. You put something flat like a screwdriver before the pulley and they roll the belt with the screwdriver moving towards pulley. Then they just climb off. Same thing for putting back, but putting back a new belt is a lot harder as the belt is not stretched yet. Next time take the tension off the belts and try the roll off method. Think some vw beetle vids on RUclips show it. Great work, keep trucking.

I got mine from a company in California called Expedition Imports. I think the Unimog Museum in Germany also sells them.

@@MogsAndDogs I will write to them, what is the manual called? , is it special for the engine, belt, or for the unimog in general
