You can be homeless but that isn't an excuse to be an animal. Near one of my businesses homeless people fight, kill eachother, do drugs, break glass bottles that puncture peoples car tires including mines, put trash all over, poop all over, harass my costumers. It isn't fair for me I worked so hard to open my businesses for many years. I had a homeless guy attack one of my employees a year ago and they quit after working for me for 3 years. People feel unsafe.

      Democrats track record
      DEFUNDED POLICE?
According to a Forbes report from August 2020, at least 13 cities have defunded or are in the process of defunding their police departments:
Cities defunded police departments - National Police Support Fund
      New York City
      Washington, D.C.
      Baltimore
      Philadelphia
      Los Angeles
      San Francisco
      Atlanta
      Minneapolis
      Seattle
      Salt Lake City
      Portland, Oregon
      Hartford, Connecticut
      Norman Oklahoma,
      Austin, Texas
According to Forbes, funding cuts ranged from $1 billion in New York City to $3.5 million in Seattle and $850,000 in smaller cities like Norman, Oklahoma. However, Forbes also reports that several cities have increased police spending, including Houston, San Diego, Nashville, and Durham, North Carolina.
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN CITIES DEFUND POLICE DEPARTMENTS?
While anti-police advocates like to say that defunding measures do not have an impact on violent crime, the statistics clearly tell a different story.
In Minneapolis, homicides increased by 60% in 2020, with many of the crimes left unsolved because there are fewer police detectives and other resources to work the cases. Things have gotten so bad that the city’s residents are filing a lawsuit against the city council to restore police funding.
“We are in an urgent state of emergency right now due to the crime,” said Cathy Spann, one of the plaintiffs in the case, told KSTP news. “As citizens, the City of Minneapolis owes us. We have a right to expect that we can be safe walking the street, that our children can play in their yards. Enough is enough.”
For its part, the city’s council seems to still be in disbelief that cutting the police force will lead to an increase in violent crime

Denver force people to southern cities like Colorado Springs and Pueblo. You can't use a public restroom unless you are a aying customer. I recently had a homeless woman follow me around the Dollar store. She was disheveled looking and talking to herself. She kept getting up behind me and all I could think is she just might jump or stab me.
My best defense I found was to smile and I said hi. She kinda grinned and she wondered out of the store. Another thing I notice is people hang out at gas stations knocking on my car window asking for cash like I am their mom or someone who is obligated to give money for whatever reason. Nobody seems to understand that addicts who make up a very large majority of the homeless are simply not “housable” in the traditional sense. Just imagine an apartment building or housing community full of people on fentanyl, crack and meth. People nodding out, fighting, seeking something to steal to pay for their next high and giving bj’s around every corner. The movie, “Escape from New York” comes to mind. It is this thralling ignorance that is and will be responsible for this problem. Furthermore is that many of these municipalities thrive on state and federal homeless aid that does little more than employ a bunch of nonprofit workers who have little to no impact on the problem. As well, a person’s US civil rights will disallow many actions that can be seen to actually help. Even concentrating addicts in prepared camps will bring forth a new set of problems that will result in a higher police presence and more arrests which will be seen as unfair and undesirable to the addict.

Hiking trails are now packed with a bunch of tech junkies taking photos and having to share their experience with the world!
Encouraging more people to pack the trails. So much for hiking to get away from the noise!
Many of the people's attitudes that move here suck.
Stupid boxy apartments being built that look like upscale housing projects.
Wish we could send most of these people home to solve the problems they created in their own states.

Homeless people aren't going away no matter what is done because most have made this lifestyle choice. Most have come here from, other states. They're in Denver because people give them supplies, food, money, clothing. If all of that stopped, they wouldn't survive to crap all over sidewalks and ruin lawns. The biggest problem with this is that no one cares about the taxpayers who live in the area. They have jobs, property, families, educations, and pay big taxes to live in Denver. They just don't matter.
I have no concern for homeless people who choose this lifestyle, and wish they could be loaded up and sent to California. If we continue like we are, the problem will just get worse. Stop dropping off food and socks. Stop giving money. Just stop!

This is a policy problem with lack of low income housing, addiction treatment, mental health treatment and so many men unable to get jobs because of a minor criminal record. It's too big a number to just call people a bunch of bums. Something is wrong. Anyone can become homeless. 13 Democrat run

On the other side is a peaceful neighborhood, even after a homeless person entered a woman's home and attacked her with a knife for no apparent reason. Maybe it was to be in jail during winter, lots of criminals do that. 2020 and the park is full of tents and trash. It's happening everywhere but mainly West coast cities. In America the west is warmer and in Canada, Vancouver BC is the only city you could survive during the winter so you get a large amount of the homeless migrating to the west. Finally the city kept there word and moved them all into a cozy hotel, not a cheap run down one but a decent one. I don't know how they are gonna maintain the health of the hotel cause most homeless aren't lazy but depressed so they wreck property fast and they love looking for junk to bring back home, which leads to bed bugs and cockroaches. Now home owners are very picky who they rent to. If you type in any city in North America with the term homeless, you will see tents all along a road or a area.

Substance addiction and mental illness are regarded as a moral weakness . In reality, they are medical conditions that need treatment, that might include institutionalization. That type of treatment is not easy to get. Additionally, many are not willing to seek help. They also don't want to stay in the shelters because they don't want to follow rules (no drugs, alcohol, fighting, staying up all night). It's hard to understand all the trash spread about. Compare it to hoarding. Which of course is also evidence of mental illness. These homeless camps attract a criminal element because of the drugs and the drinking. People get robbed and assaulted. I've been homeless myself but I've never lived like this. I've known and worked with homeless people and some of them are grateful and others just take advantage and don't want to change. P *2 of 4* Cities are spending millions of dollars to open and run homeless bed shelters; that the homeless reject due to the many restrictions and lack of security. _Pallet Shelter's_ two person _Shelter 64_ cost only $7,000 and provides a dignified, secure sleeping base of operation. So for only $201,000 [$120 tents] a city can establish and run a *Homeless Shelter Village* with 1000 shelters that can accommodate 2,000 people: 2 beds and belongings per 10'X10' tent.

Why isnt Colorado ( govt) offering the homeless the opportunity to learn a new trade, build skills, via paid community service projects? Common sense, majority of homeless people want to work. They want to earn own keep.
They would like the opportunity to help themselves, and there is no, services like it

P *4 of 4* The homeless can simply move the tents they are using now into the homeless-village and the RVs are assigned a parking space. *Or the **_Shelter 100,_** provided by FEMA,* is a $9,500 shelter that is climate controlled, built in one hour, is 100 sq. ft., and uses a folding bunk system to house up to four beds. *_Pallet Shelter's_* private sleeping cabins offer *security* and durability. Which addresses the concerns of the homeless who reject the restrictions of “bed-only” homeless-shelters; for only one night.

Go out to any place they are building houses and see for yourself what kind of houses they are building. They're building houses in the 375 to 700,000 cost range. Maybe we should stop approving those kind of projects and start building tiny house communities where a person can rent one for 200.00 a month. There would have to be rules of course. They would have to maintain a standard of living that is acceptable of course. Oh wait !!!! I forgot. That would be too easy. Want to know why there is so much trash at these camps? Because there is no place for them to put their trash. There will always be those who choose drugs or booze over civic duty. For those people I say build more prisons. But for those who want to live a normal life give them a reasonable way to do so. Giving people money to remain a burden on society is nothing but a burden on society. Make all the money be accounted for. But also make sure they can return to society with some sort of pride.

A good start would be to stop voting for laws that encourage homeless people to come to Denver. I realize the pandemic has been responsible for some of this, but years before the pandemic started, Denver voted to legalize weed and for the clean needle program. These laws combined with recently enacted liberal policies have created this mess.

It actually started way before that, with the meddles and weed ! There's been drug culture long before homelessness. I always hated drug culture, never bought into that. That was bad enough to deal with ! But this homelessness is un- American. It's Third World conditions, simply teriffying to see it HERE.

F of Parts A-F The homeless-shelters are powered and heated with butane and solar-panels, depending on how well the infrastructure held up, which are integrated into the construction of the *temporary* _homeless-shelters._ Which are a dry, clean place to sleep, and store their stuff. People from the city drive out to the homeless-communities to pick up food bank food; because that is where the food banks and free-ice machines are located.

The housing crisis is worldwide and greedy airbnb owners play their part. Most homeless didn't ask for this.My homeless family are now seriously ill because they rented all they could get, a mouldy rental. All 3 are now seriously ill, my daughter may have breast cancer because of the mould. The mould specialist recommended demolition, instead after a coat of paint, the death trap was sold. Do not blame the victims, blame the greedy landlords, agents, airbnb owners who will all sleep safe tonight. From Australia, in despair.
