"The afterlife welcomes you with a path to Paradise."
This is Purgatory: an amalgamation of my video game inspirations, presented as a modern kaizo hack. It seems Mario has met an unfortunate end, finding himself at the foot of Mount Purgatory. The only way to escape is to brave the climb and ascend beyond the apex to reach Paradise.
This hack features:
- 21 exits of pure platforming, primarily (there's very little item usage).
- A variety of custom palettes and backgrounds (with mostly vanilla assets).
- Secret message boxes to find throughout.
- The typical list of QoL patches.
- Fake HDMA :)
With this being my first hack, I had two goals: firstly, to teach myself to play and design kaizo; and secondly, to create a collection of levels that I found to be fun and challenging.
To those that gave me any feedback, to those that helped me directly, and -- of course -- to my wonderful playtesters: there are no words to express how grateful I am. This hack would not be the same without everyone's efforts, comments, and collective reassurance. Thank you all, truly.
To those who will embark on the journey to Paradise: I wish you good luck and I hope you enjoy it.

Not gonna lie, I feel like Poo playing ROM hacks is just him sitting cozy in his element, you know? And Mario Maker is like, a second home that he's heavily invested in.

The difference, for me, in a nub and a knob - the knob is bigger and has a mechanical function, such as opening a door. The nub is just an inert "bump."

Honestly, that's a skill he has that impresses me the most. The total comfort in attention-splitting. He's focusing nailing high difficulty rom hack stuff while actively reading chat, processing and returning a creative response. Then feeding off of reactions. Then basically the most everything to be entertaining. Stories about his kid, lady poo, or random life while still clearing expert level stuff.

Who made this hack? It's brilliant. The aesthetics, the slight trolls, the new mechanics (nubs) & new takes on old mechanics (sky tree). So, so brilliant

I'd consider watching GTA content of other styles, but I have no interest in watching roleplay of any kind.
You're obviously having fun though, so keep doing what you want to do. You owe nothing to me and there are people who do enjoy watching roleplay content.

So when going for the secret exit on that last level, after the skull blocks, there was another branch just after that. Was that another secret, or just a 'platform' he kept skipping?

Rec Room has some phenomenal VR escape rooms. I know you’ve mentioned getting motion sick in VR before, but they may be a good way to kinda overcome that

@GPB have you ever put your cap on backwards like Stallone in that weirdly captivating Trucker/Armwrestler movie, gone full Thab mode and just completely crushed a super difficult level or section?
10:40 Yeah, you've talked about it and been lit up by chat enough I think a whole video could be done explaining your setup. Idea: Behind cam. Not your face but behind the chair at the monitor, systems, input connection switches, all of it. You can do a minor intro on which connectors you use for setup, then just launch into a gameplay. Fire up your tv, game system, connect to your stream set-up, everything you do on an everyday basis. But now the camera is already rolling, behind you as you do everything.
Behind the scenes of GPB. Then I suppose you could end the video with the gameplay about to start, switch the camera back to face and maybe just do one or two fun levels.

gta roleplay seems like something that would be better to watch live. a lot of the episodes I tune in and there doesn't seem to be much story, it's just talking in one place, and then talking in another place without a solid driving arc.
Some things never change. The flow of time, Poo missing the first jump after a checkpoint and forgetting the timer.

you ever thought about starting a gang war with Tupac? like f his b or something idk. you're already sort of a con-artist...just your character's demeanor...ya know, Mick Flair is like a classic "confidence man" when it comes to his personality...but actually doing con-artist tricks or something would be pretty cool too.
so.. I had been playing this roguelike for awhile, and I had come to use a specific build. I had started talking about it on the subreddit for the game, and about a month or so later, they announce they're entirely removing the mechanic that allows for the build, while simultaneously nerfing every single individual part of it. It'd be one thing if it was just a nerf, but they said they were completely removing the ability for me to play the game the way I wanted. It's not like the mechanic involved was some hidden technique, it was a known thing by pretty much everyone in the community. Then again, I'd eventually get over it right. No big deal, there are plenty of other ways to play the game, but like...the way I was treated when I confronted them about it...I just couldn't play anymore. It was too much for me to handle. The constant self-proclaimed pedantic asshats(that I'm almost CERTAIN were the same dev's sock-puppets) that always came with the mass downvotes to hide my comments in their "important" threads. Just couldn't play their game anymore if that's how it was gonna be. I mean, I guess they already got my money for the game, so whatever.

i love the gta series, but i think it can be a bit harder, as a member of your audience, to get into. Like, there's a lot of jokes or material that people won't understand. Not only that, but it can be a bit cheesy at times. Not that it's bad, i'm perfectly fine with the cheese. Of course there's going to be cheese in role play. That's just the nature of the game. You just have to learn to embrace the cringe.

The music in the main part of Woodland Tango is from Jurassic Park SNES, the secret area music is 'Treetop Rock' from Donkey Kong Country 1.

@@LudaChez You're very welcome, glad I could help. I still have my original Jurassic Park SNES cartridge, played it a lot when I was younger. It can be quite challenging, but it is very good.
@@BlueT128 like I said for some reason it reminds me of Super Adventure Island and some other games like that. It has a surprisingly good soundtrack. Never got to experience Jurassic Park full time. I don't know about the game but it seems I definitely missed out on music
GTA looks like it would be fun to ply but it isnt very fun to watch.
i actually really wanted to watch gta but for some reason the role play aspect kinda throws me off and i dont like it that much. its just not for me, but im glad you like it as much as you do

The little Actraiser clip should have shown the level he was probably referring to.
The wooden spikes that come out of those one tile grounds is just the long wooden spike sprite that is 3 tiles long hidden in the ground. Good reuse of a sprite
