Whilst I 100 percent agree with this from a business manufacturing component sourcing, you only painted just one side of the picture. I can personally buy components at a fraction of the price of the main stream supply chain. Cost is often as important factor as performance. Competition drives inovation and im not going to cry over the bottom line of semiconductors designers and fab, they are doing very nicely thank you, and just crying about the fact we no longer have to stand them having complete controll of the market. In the lock down, I suffered hugely due to global shortages, there was no actual shortage of components simply companies choosing to manufacture only the top end high value of their product ranges and that is the main reason some compoents were in short supply.
did i hear no BS pricing for original components and ic`s as of the near future. ?.. for most of the non mega circuit designers who can just push the price to the next in the process. original comp are mostly just filled with diamond or sommth... i rather get scammed out of 3 or 10 dollars ,, than getting scammed a bit less for 100 ..
You did not take the opportunity to advise your views of where they are most likely to encounter counterfeit components. Basically, buyers should assume that 100% of all components found on secondhand seller sites are counterfeit. Namely Amazon, Ebay, Tuma, AliExpress, etc. Whether you should buy those is a matter of use. In some instances, like practicing to solder, you may not care if the device works, or not.
Yes it probably would have been worth mentioning that components bought from non-authorised distributors could well be counterfeit. There is so much you can say and you don’t want make the video too long.

It is the perpetual problem. Manufacturers go for what gives them the most profit. This doesn't necessarily link to what some people need.
