It always amazes me as a metal fabricator seeing how he makes the little things. Like those jigs for the band saw to cut the square tubing. Genius. There’s whole businesses that use cnc lasers to make those and give Collin a 3d printer and done.
I love how Collin puts so much thought into what he gives, really does his best to get inside the head of the person he's giving to, couldn't possibly be a better friend if he tried, such a sweet man
Seconded, and he would sound so big headed when he says "we do it for the smaller channels," but I feel like he genuinely enjoys what these people do and doesn't mean any harm by this statement. He's like a Labrador that also is a mad scientist. Some sort of Air Bud meets Doc Brown.
Fun project. I think you should make another version where each foot print stamps a message in the mud or snow. Perhaps a long romantic poem through the town or just a subtle yet shameless "subscribe to colinfurze" on every step. You can put Engineering Mindset if you like, I'll sponsor that.
@@Sn1peralex as a rear wheel it would not be able to transfer torque from the hub as it is currently built. Maybe an adult size coaster bike. Or off set the wheel tracks.

The original Edwardian footed wheel invention was patented as "The Pedrail". It was the alternative competitor to the Holt "Caterpillar Track" method of moving heavy machinery over rough terrain. Guess which invention won the competition & became globally successful, in the end. Nice to see "The Pedrail" making brief comeback, after a 120 year gap.
I first came across the idea of the pedrail in the H G Wells story The Land Ironclads. This was a story about tank warfare with battleship size tanks. Well worth reading in my opinion.
even before that, there was a prototype steam locomotive that used legs to push minecarts, it had a fun tendency to get stuck, speed up, then lift the cars off the track
@@Akari_202 Not sure, but H G Wells described a similar system in a 1911 story. That story also described the gunners as sitting in darkened cabins, viewing the outside world as an image on a screen and controlling the gun movement with a joystick that had an electric button that fired the gun.

Hey Colin! Me and my boys love your videos and wanted to suggest a bike with suction-cup wheels similar to what you made in this video except ride it upside down on the ceiling. And I thought yeah, that reminds me of a Colin bike project haha.
This reminds me of an episode of an old Dutch television program ''Te land, ter zee en in de lucht", where in one segment, the contestants had to make a wacky bicycle to go straight across a long narrow beam, trying not to fall of and fall in the water. One guy came far with his shoebike, but eventually of the rods holding the shoes on the wheel snapped off and he fell a couple meters into the water...
