  • This is a simple 1x12" Guitar cabinet build so if you're considering making a DIY guitar cab, this would be a great pace to start. A Guitar speaker cabinet is a box with a circular hole cut in one side. The hardest part of making a speaker cabinet is cutting that circular hole, so I've put a link below for how to make the router jig I used to do that.
Apart from that, fit a cone and connect two cables. job done. Boom!
Here's a link to my video where I make a circle cutting jig : • How to make a circle c...

HI enjoyed the video. Watched your previous series on you 2 x 12 cab recently too - plenty of background info in your videos that will be useful - I'm turning a PA cab into a 2 x 12 guitar cab as a project at present.
Have taken a quick look through the titles of what you've posted over the last year, will be worth wacthing!
May be useful for you to know - to get the fabric evenly tight on the front grill can be tricky - artists when making up canvasses tighten them up in a 'union jack' like pattern. 4 centres first to line it up , then keep halfing the remainders, doing the outer corners last. Works every time.

Nice one. Let me know how it turns out.
Good shout on the fabric trick. I still have a load left so could give it another shot. I’ll probably build another at some point though

@@PherotoneStudios I also have a few Behringer mics and tried their SM57 clone - very nice on guitar cabs, not so good for vocals and acoustic guitar IMHO.
Have you come across the B2 Pro condenser? The prices seem to vary a lot. I picked a new one up for £80 last year, nice aluminium case with i and a shock mount.
Seems like a very nice piece of kit great for vocals and acoustic instruments.
Your channel rightly demos affordable gear. The B2 Pro might be a mic one worth considering demoing, they have been out for years and I think it's a gem that has been overlooked.
Keep up the good work! I'll be looking through your older videos. Thanks

I pre-drill the outside edge where the speaker sits and drill through from the inside of the cab so the screws are hidden

I have a question, would I be able to use any speaker, with the right impedance, for the guitar cabinet? Do I have to use ones specifically made for guitar amps or can I just use any old speaker?

Gotta say, I wish I had seen this before working on some sub boxes with my friend. The holes for the speakers gave us a lot of trouble, that it appears you eloquently managed to bypass.

    • @jordanperkins3332
      @jordanperkins3332 3 года назад

@@PherotoneStudios it turned out okay (the holes don't look the best, but the speakers cover them up, anyways), it just ended up being a lot more work than necessary. We pretty much just made sure to cut the hole too small, then we would try to fit the speakers in, and sand down wherever necessary until they fit. Took a good few hours. I'll make sure to check out those videos before working on another set, though!

Great work on the cabinet! Loving these vids! 👍 Quick question for you... If I buy a Celestion Speaker, and fit it inside of a large Amazon box... Will it sound the same and therefore save another £40ish? 🤔🐴

Wood doesn't do much but the structural integrity definitely does, cabs are sturdy so that they don't over-vibrate

hey, i dont know if it is too late, but whats important in that case is tht the speaker and the head have enought watts, the cab may help with its construction to project better the sound

My one complaint about this: if you're showing people how to make stuff, wear PPE, please! Safety glasses and dust mask at the very least. Wood dust is highly toxic, it can get into your lungs and cause all sorts of problems. Also, protecting your eyes is extremely important, especially when I comes to power tools.
Apart from that, great build! Looking forward to the next one!

What? No finger-joints? It isn't music if the cabinet doesn't have finger-joints! Seriously though, that looks sturdy enough to sail across the sea in.

@@PherotoneStudios I had 15mm MDF in my cave, so I gave it a try. My problem is that I find it a bit boomy, but closing it with a thick fiberglass panel fix the problem I think, so finally I am very happy. What do you think, it is 76cm height x 48 width x 40deep on the bottom 35deep on top, I think I made a over sized cab! It is a loaded with a C10Q and a G12-T75, they both sound great by them self (especially the celestion, waouh! ) but I am still wondering about this mix, I like it but....I would like to try a 10"greenback or G10N-40 just to be sure.

You should use a drum scratch track instead of a metronome when recording music without drums. I can tell your timing is a little off, drums help with that better than a metronome. You can just take the drums out at the end.
