Huh I was just playing a Shadowgrave campaign a few hours ago - about turn 30 and I've conquered Athel Loren with a doomstack of chao spawn. Morghur's mortis engine effect is amazing, I have cheesed the majority of my sieges with this tactic. Chaos spawn with horrific regen are awesome, unbreakable tanks that can't die.
After razing the whole of Estalia, I actually waited for Ikit to colonize the ruins to help him develop a little bit. Defiantly an amazingly fun campaign that everyone should try out.
I simultaneously love and hate this about his campaign.
they were broken before, they overtuned them, now they are overstrong.
@@diogovieira5563 Yeah, I remember in WH2, fighting Morghur as Franz after the Beastman rework, and being amazed at his Missile Defense and Mortis Effect. He single handedly overwhelmed my army, as the rest of his army was trivial. Such a ball ache.
In WH3 they moved him, but now as Franz I have to struggle against Festus Leechlord, with his ROR giant and multiple heroes, who is just as much of a ball ache. :D
Chaos Spawn with his buffs and the regeneration are honestly really strong. The fact they're unbreakable really helps you squeeze out every bit of value from each unit. Plus he spawns more from his wierd effect 😁
Hes a very good introduction to the horde mechanic. I am kinda sad how CA is letting go of it... always felt it was an interesting challenge (especially in the historical Total wars). And lets face it, morgur is a one man doomstack. His fights can be long and tedious but he is an absolute unit !
Many thanks to all of your campaign review videos. Thanks to them, I started various campaigns that I never had before and I learn many new things, like the "cheese" with Morgurs aura.

I've been really enjoying these campaign reviews. I especially appreciate the inclusion of additional details e.g. what each LL brings to the table in terms of unique skills, faction effects, strong army compositions, and overviews of expansion options for each campaign. I've watched all of the videos in this series and am excited for more.
I know you are a busy man, but a series going over "The first 10 turns" for some of the more common factions would be an interesting thing for people who just recently got into the game to see.

@@jeffjackson8755 The first 10-20 turns can go wildly different for everyone. Some general tips like what he's giving in these videos is much better than Legend having to spend hours testing, re-testing, recording and then editing. Best way to learn this game is by...playing the game!

I haven't played Morghur yet, but this definitely helps the desire to do so. I really want to see a campaign review of Scrag, since the Ogres have interested me for a while, but I haven't had the desire to try them after looking at how poorly the AI performs with them when I've played as Belegor and Wurrzag.

one thing i love about Morghur in warhammer 3, is not the spams you can, but just the absolute meme of steam rolling estalia, giving the middle finger to athel loren and curb stomping early ulthuan since you're close ish
I always go Chaos Spawn heavy with Morg because they are basically free with the follower that you can get a ton of.

Honestly I wish we had more Beastmen LLs to play as.
With the changes they made for LLs on WH3 I feel like Morghur is now the easiest of the Beastman to build a one man Doomstack army (Starts with mortis engine efffect, regen, highest missile resistance on the game and a small entity), he's even the closest to Sword of Khaine should one go for it

I've been into Warhammer for nearly 25 years, and it took me until my first IE campaign with Morghur to realize his name is "Shadowgave" and not "Shadowgrave"
So not 25 years myself but I’ve been playing since around 2004…. I only just noticed thanks to your comment…. 😅

Morghur will always be my favorite Beastmen legendary Lord. IMO he's way more fun than the rest. In Morghur's campaign I actually feel like I'm beast of chaos/children of chaos. A true disgusting, mutated, corrupted abomination here to do chaos's bidding. Getting a province to 100% corruption within one to two turns of me just standing there raiding or just passing through as well as causing attrition to nearby armies. Talk about corruption in truest form. Yea Taurox might be a "stronger" Beastmen legendary lord in combat but definitely not as fun overall as Morghur in combat or on the campaign map.
Any advice for fighting skaven end game as dwarfs? I'm playing as the dwarfs in the south of the map and it feels like skaven are just made to counter dwarfs
But legend... You forgot to mention that down his blue skill line, CA still hasn't changed his skill to reduce the amount of turns he is wounded for.. 😅
What does that end up doing?

@@LordPratticus it's a wasted skill. Morghur already has a trait to make it so he only takes a turn to recover from beiywounded and yet she still has a skill in his talents to reduce his wounded time. It's a wasted skill point

Do you consider Chaos Spawn to be somewhat decent now? I remember it being considered more of a meme unit in campaign.
He says they're good early game. Still look for Jabbaslythes
They actually not that bad, especially against non high tier infantry and archers - if fighting some swordsman and other stuff they make a good work. And terror them a lot, also hold up for very long.
Of cos it all works only in beastmen campaign because of buffs, 0 upkeep and unit capacity
@@easytanksgaming3238 Eh, CS of Tzeentch are pretty great for their barrier giving them extra longevity, and CS of Slaanesh are surprisingly solid thanks to their soporific musk, physical resistance and speed bonus. Khorne and Nurgle CS aren't really worth it though
I keep rewatching legend's "Smelly Boy Morghur" campaign (the pre-Beastmen update one). It was such a shitshow - like, the very campaign you play as beastmen was a disaster by default, especially Morghur's one, since he pretty much banned the use of minotaurs via his faction's effect.

I played Khazrak and I think Morghur is perfect to be confederated by him once you're done with reikland (not necessarily all Elector Counts) to attack Athel Loren by the South West
I want to do a Morghur only attrition campaign, is it viable? (Btw Morghur voice lines are awesome)
You're handicapping yourself by not recruiting the other LLs, but between Despoiler Raiding, Winds of Malady and Chaos Corruption, you can inflict massive amounts of casualties through attrition, yes.

I know it sounds ironic but I've played with all the beastmen and this guys starting point was the hardest for me
I made it harder for myself by going east instead of north and needing to stomp Ikit and raze Skavenblight. Then I had a fine old time dealing with Belegar and his stupid ghosts while that stupidly tough Dark Elf rebel lord with all the Chaos Chosen paraded around Not-Italy making a complete nuisance of himself.
Ikit himself was fine, since you can shut down his few good ranged units with doggos and Centigors while Morghur and his Spawn melt the hordes. Belegar, his ghosts and his Hammerers just refuse to die, though, so those battles can take a minute.
@@arathain2 damn that's exactly what i did, the orcs to the east and the whole empire just ends up declaring war on you. maybe this guy is right, we should have went north instead of east
Is there any advantage to befriending ikit claw? On my campaign I turned to kill him after I dealt with Estalia, and since he had abotu 3 armies and all around Estalia it was pretty good to up Morghur in very few turns
Distraction to your other enemies
He's just a powerful ally that can cover your Eastern border from the dwarves and pirates
@@DatCanadien I mean, as beastmen I dont usually feel I have great issues with protecting borders since you are mostly razing everything. And I have rarelly seen an army cross the marshes of Skavenblight in my direction, even when I put a herdstone there.
@@MateusVIII I'm not that familiar with the beast men but if you're able to build outposts with allies you could recruit his skaven teams if beastmen are able to do that

going for the capital first would be a mistake, I think
not only is it harder, as you have said, but you also don't get any points for the herdstone, right?
meaning you wasted all the points from the army AND the capital instead of fueling them in into your first herdstone
no you get those points, you do lose a building spot as the dock takes one building slot, but early game getting the +10% replenish instead of a second ritual building is fine, i definitely thinking going after the capital for the herdstone sounds fine
F that cow everytime I try to play as Ikit Claw he always attacks me and destroys half my empire while I'm busy breaking the Geneva convention in the old world
I find it better to just Confederate Morg than actually do this campaign for no other reason then he just gets the most 'meh' of faction effects of the beastmen

Sadly, passive skill "ardour's Fury" is bugged, since 2016 I think. It doesn't apply to chaos spawn, which is the whole point of that skill. I hope CA fix this, is hard to believe they reworked the entire faction and didn't see that.
Taking coastal cities as herdstones sucks in WH3, you're stuck with a useless port building that gives you 10% casualty replenishment rate. You can't even get a herdstone building right away.

his effect got nerfed and only effects one unit in the radius now.
I love beastmen, just keep running into issues with mods to add chaos god dedicated beastmen to their faction.

@@LordPratticus Beasts most foul gors and minotaurs. It doesnt let me raise herdstones beyond tier 3. Might be a conflict with another mod like Mixu's. I really like the god specific beastmen units.

I purchased WH3 in steam discount. Picked Archeon since it looks fun. Since he is s-tier I start with very hard (still want my saves). The battles with melee only armies are something I have to get used to, but I'll manage. Finally get the handle of thing and start painting the map.
The biggest waaagh starts. What is this thing? I fight 12 hours of Ork armies in two days. Who ever said this is easier than WH2 is a liar.
you can toggle end game crisis on or off. You had it on. That is why the biggest war happened. Next time you start a campaign look into the options. It is totally optional.
@@TheBarser It is a must have though. Otherwise it would have been easy. One thing that bothers me thought is that the AI basically ignores everyone else and sends the armies exclusively after me.
They just walk past other cities and towards me or my vassals.

@@xiii0722 It was fun though. I went turn after turns against multiple double and triple stacks.
The wild hunt would worry as I can't even beat wood elf basic armies. Orc melee however clump up and can be killed with spells while your faster units take care of their ranged. Melee lords, melee heroes, and aspirants can kill their lord/heroes.

Am I in the minority for preferring the shorter style reviews? I mean, the 20 turn guide reminiscent style is nice, but I like the idea of getting an absolute snapshot of a faction in a couple minutes as a separate series.
