- A song with many interpretations - only ONE José Montserrate Feliciano Garcia!
In 1971, the young Puerto Rican guitarist/singer performed this Italian song (written by Jimmy Fontana, Franco Migliacci, Carlo Pes)) at a music festival in Italy. It became popular in Italy and Europe. He later recorded it in Spanish creating a hit in Central and South America. Though the lyrics are different in English (entitled "Shake a Hand"), he had a hit with this version in Scandinavian countries.
In the U.S., Doris Day popularized the "what will be, will be" song ("qué sera, sera" - title in Spanish and French). She first sang it in the 1956 Hitchcock movie, "The Man Who Knew Too Much"
Along with others of my generation, I discovered Feliciano in the mid 60s, early 70s. His "Feliz Navidad" (1970) is internationally known as well as his rendition of the Doors' song, "Light My Fire".
Although Americans in general may not be as well acquainted with Feliciano's virtuoso performances, he is highly regarded and been widely acclaimed in other parts of the world, especially Latin America.
And, just in case you didn't know, he was born blind, is a self-taught musician and plays several musical instruments. The acoustic guitar is his favorite.
He is 66 years old, married with children and lives in Connecticut.
The song, "Che sarà" can be found on his 1971 album by the same name.

Eileen, thank you so much for sharing! since as an Italian that left the little village for the big North American city, this story is mine as well! Jose Feliciano and the group I Ricchi e Poveri placed at no. 2 at the San Remo Music Festival of 1971. One year before I left Italy! As much as I loved Feliciano, I Ricchi e Poveri and this song, it was causing painful emotions in 71 because I knew my dad had made up his mind to move the family to Canada! It is nevertheless one of my favourite songs ever written/ever sang!

Thank you for the lyrics, it means a lot to me. As a child I knew the translation in my native language (wonderful song), and the original found me when I was considering to leave my country. Without understanding the text completely, I understood a difference between the translation I knew and the original song. I like both versions, but this one has been my Guardian Angel deep in my heart.
