My theory of why Akuma goes Shin after eating is simple, Akuma is starving himself, to give himself a handycap he is literally letting himself become malnourished and underfed. The moment he actually EATS, he regains his full energy, thus, he becomes Shin Akuma.
I like the idea that canonically, Shin Akuma really is just regular Akuma fighting at his actual capacity, but he’s so powerful that even while starving and being too tired to use his full power, he’s still stronger than almost everyone else
Akuma is just starving himself as a form of training, the same way some characters uses weights; eating the rice ball is basically him removing his "limiter".
Fighting hungry/malnourished is the same as Akuma holding back. The rice ball gives him some serious power, but it's just a single rice ball. Imagine if he had a Goku meal
I just can't help to say this: this is the most polished Street Fighter character designs. All the subtleties, callbacks, references, evolution for each character. An example of this is, Ryu's current itiration has sandals w is vs. Akuma going without sandals. Just small touches like that that is *chef's kiss*. Modified: replaced "fullbarenaked"meaning full barenaked to without sandals.

I think we’re playing shin akuma by default in SF6. It’s easy to say his white hair is due to him being old but to me it’s very in character for akuma to master the satsui no hado and that’s his new norm but he’d still strive for more. Plus as cool as oni is I can see akuma not wanting to lose himself and continue to honor his code

Very close to falling, but not quite. With Oni, Akuma loses his last shred of humanity, his honor as a warrior, and the dark Hado overtakes him. He will become undoubtedly stronger, even compared to his Shin self...but his identity as Akuma will be gone forever and replaced by Oni. Because of the path he is on, training to achieve greater heights of power and mastery over the Hado, his fate as Oni is inevitable

It’s a duplicate made by SiRN to mimic a full power Akuma, and all the characters have a unique win quote against him. I also had the theory that Akuma is just in permanent shin mode in this game. Akuma is not in permanent Shin mode, he only pulls that out when he is facing an opponent capable of pushing him that far (Gouken, usually). As for SiRN Akuma, the newcomers are indeed impressed by it, and those who heard about Akuma also think it to be a perfect copy of the demon's full might...but people like Ryu, someone who understands just how powerful Akuma truly is, do not believe that this machine can even fathom his true might. I literally just noticed the unique kanji on SiRN Akuma's back moments ago, and was wondering if anyone else had noticed it when this video popped into my feed! My personal theory is that we are NOT playing as Shin Akuma, or "True" Akuma, in Street Fighter 6. The evidence I would point to is Akuma's new moves, which empahsize turning the Satsui no Hado into red-hot flames. This idea is seen in his fully-charged firefall, his new Adamant Flame special, and his level 2 super art, "Empyrean's End." Fire is synonymous with the emotions of anger and rage, but it's also synonymous with ideas of cleansing and purification. Between this and Akuma displaying a face of uncertainty in his win animation, I beleive we play as an Akuma who is teetering on the brink BETWEEN Oni and Shin Akuma. He's closer to acheiving his "true" and "pure" self then he's ever been, but if he lets himself fall into rage just a bit too much, he'll be consumed by the demon almost immediately.

I'd like to believe that that one punch can now equal to what used to be his raging demon, and his current form of raging demon is a thousand of his old one.
well when he beats Ryu in the fight of his tour he is actually revealed to have enjoyed his fight with Ryu, carving a smile onto a carving for his recent fight.
Akuma, when he drops his opponent, looks almost sad. Either from the disappointment that was just shown to him, or the fact that he almost let himself go.

This only supports my theory that Oni is not a "what if" character but a legitimate future form of Akuma. I like how they've moved away from Akuma walking down the path of Oni. Shin Akuma was always the more interesting option with Akuma refusing to sacrifice nothing but his own free will for power. The SiRN Akuma fight is not really that difficult. Yes he's fast, has a always increasing meter and has unique supers but you just need to be faster and use his style against him. He also takes increased damage so its not impossible to defeat him. Good luck to anyone who does fight him
I tried fighting him in Avatar battle and I was able to beat him multiple times when he tried out moves and I just charged and counter his moves with Headbutts and Dives. Also, about 5:44, someone actually told me that you only need to press down and taunt button once the moment Akuma turns his head away after talking in his back taunt.
I feel like we are playing a version of Akuma that is very close to Shin Akuma but just not quite there and needs a certain change of state in order to unlock the Godlike version of Akuma that is a true final boss of a lot of Arcade video games.
We simply don’t know but i think it makes more sense to assume its due to age. We see him greying in third strike. The only other argument that makes sense is that his hair was greying because he was slowly becoming shin, starting in third strike. But the move set difference is what I think sets it apart. Shin is basically like “potential unlocked”. So maybe we could argue in essence he is but I wouldn’t count it until the actual potential is “unlocked”
I think Akuma has learned to control it, just like Ryu and the Mu No Ken. Now he can almost become Shin Akuma at will. Just as Mu No Ken is Ryu's path, ultimately Oni is Akuma's. But with him I feel like Oni will be more or a desperation or final transformation, one Akuma can't come back from. Like Shin Akuma is a form he can power down from, but with Oni, Akuma truly "becomes the demon."

In Chinese, 神 - God / Godly, 鬼 - Ghost Back to SF4 when Akuma finishes raging demon he shows “神人” on his back, which “人” means “human / man” So basically Akuma made progress from 神人 to 神鬼, and it resonate the last sentence of 「一瞬千擊 、拔山蓋世、鬼哭啾啾、故豪鬼成。」 “故豪鬼成” literally means “the completion of Akuma.”
In a later comic shin akuma confronted ryu after he got rib off his humanity and completely mastered the satsu no hado, he send ryu soul to hell and fought evil ryu there

SF6 characters on the back look to be 神鬼 not 神人. which would translate into god demon or demon god
it bothered me so much that there was clearly no jin/hito character on even the first shin akuma, this video isn't accurate grahhhh

akuma is just shin akuma holding back deliberately to even the playing field
