And Vegeta thinks of him and Goku as almost evens. Endeavor he and All might had too big of a gap, also Endeavor isn’t alien he is a human with a quirk.
Rei really is such a beautiful soul. Like, it's clear that she's still frightened and fragile but she isn't willing to just sit and accept Natsu's negative opinions of Enji because she can see that he's trying, albeit slowly and unassimingly. As time has gone on, you can see Enji being more proactive in trying to be present and attentive rather than simply steering things to be the way he wants them. His attempts to show Shouto that he's changing, the way he listens to Fuyumi when she talks rather than ignoring her as he had previously, the way he really is trying to build a connection with Natsu and the small gesture he is showing to Rei without putting her in an uncomfortable position. Yes, he did so many things wrong and he has been a deeply terrible person but he really is trying to make changes. He doesn't want to be redeemed, that much is clear. He just wants to prove that he is aware of his wrongdoings and wants to try and repair what damage he can by proving he can be better. I'm actually very thankful that this is the direction that the writers chose to go with his story. Enji is such a complex character and giving him this development and the inteospection to see his own faults will only serve to make him a better hero and a more competent father. I'm very interested to see where it goes further on in the story.
Well it’s probably because Enji knows that what he did can’t be fixed overnight and honestly given how Rei described that he never forgets details that makes sense he’s a smart man. And once he became number one he started seeing things differently and I personally think he should be grateful that for the first time in a while that he can see things a little clearer now.

Everything he did up until this moment was to surpass the #1 Hero, but with him out of the picture there's no reason to keep feeling this hatred in his heart. Keep in mind, this does NOT in any way excuse his actions. But we can see that at least he is trying to be better

it was reflexive. She didn’t burn Shoto to punish him for looking like Enji, she just could ONLY see Enji in that moment and as a result, she lost it. She was out of her mind. If she had meant to hurt Shoto, she wouldn’t have immediately tried to heal him afterwards.
I personally think enji is one of my favorite characters because of the fact he's slowly being redeemed. The story of the whole family is so entruiging and it makes me like his character more because of the fact that he's trying to change the picture his family has on him 😌

I don't have an issue giving Endeavor a character arc. I do have a problem with doing it halfheartedly. The mom feels more like a mouthpiece for the author rather than showing us a small scene where Endeavor visits her and show genuine concern. It's my issue with Bakugo all over again; characters telling us the character is a good person rather than showing it.
In the manga it shows him praying to Touya's memorial shrine (if that's what it's called) showing he feels guilty for his son's "death" (I think Dabi is Touya) This shows some form of good due to him showing respect for a lost relative

Showing how he's been bringing her favorite flower to the hospital over 10 years, is a nice way of saying that Endeavor still cares, but has difficulty getting that across.
I think a hospital was the best thing for her. I can't imagine what would of happened if she stayed in that environment, especially after what happened to Shoto. Professional treatment was obviously needed. She wouldn't need it is she wasn't hurt, but there is some good that came out of the hospital stay.
I like the redemption arc they’re giving him but I wish we actually got a scene where he visits Rei in the hospital and try to reconnect with her. Show don’t tell!
I never watched the show, but just from this scene alone, and the children's acknowledgement of his abuse, she seems to suffer an extreme case of Stockholm Syndrome.

I love that she's still willing to stand by him. Ironically Endeavor always seemed so cold, and she seems so warm and loving. They really were perfect for each other.

Love does not work in black and white. Evenw ehn someone you love is flawed, somethimes you still love them, with, ofcourse, recognizing those flaws for what they are. She hates his flaws, but not him.
There is a huge cultural divide in the western and eastern audiences and how they view Endeavor. Endeavor is like a classic asian business man. Completely focused on his work and doing everything to be the best. He may have been a bad parent but in japanese society he wouldn't be viewed as an abuser because he neglected his kids emotionally. Japan and asian countries have rigid family roles where the mother is the caregiver and father is the provider. The wife is supposed to be subservient to her husband and support him no matter what. All of this is way different than western society where women are now independent and arranged marriages don't happen anymore.
No one writes family dynamics as well as Horikoshi. I think that the Todoroki family is one of the best representations of an abusive family dynamic and the way he handles the healing process is just so beautiful. He really hit every mark, from Fuyumi who just wants to hold her family together and move on from the past to Natsu and Toya who have allowed their anger and rage to consume them, Toya more so than Natsu. It’s just so good. And I love the way how Midoriya and Bakugou handle Todoroki’s family dynamic. Bakugou is used to a little loving manhandling, and is at first confused about why a heavy hand is so bad, until he remembers that he’s talking to Shoto, who was physically abused, and he defers to Shoto. I can’t gush enough about how good Horikoshi did with the Todoroki family.
I'm assuming you've read the manga, so my comment will contain SPOILER. Low chance of happening, it's so obvious Touya hates the Todoroki family. The fan headcanon that he was this overprotective brother was wrong. He literally tried to kill Shoto by hugging him and burning him alive. Unless I read the manga wrong
It always struck me as odd that so many people hate Endeavor and think his irredeemable, while simultaneously loving and sympathizing with Dabi, but at the same time, it makes sense. It's relatable Villainy; Being an abusive father and husband obviously isn't even in the same ballpark as mass murder and terrorism, but people, especially young people (Who, in my experience, make up most of Dabi's fanbase) can relate to (Or rather, relate against) an abuser more than a serial killer. It's the same reason Umbridge is so much more hated the Voldemort; I doubt most of us have ever encountered a dark lord of evil hell-bent on taking over the world, but a lot of us have probably met a sadistic douchebag who abuses what little power they have. -In both cases, I imagine their physical attractiveness also plays a factor, but that's none of my business.-
They see as having a choice vs not having a choice. Endeavor choose to do it. But Dabi was pushed to. But I guess the execution matters. Bakugo abuse Deku yet he is favoured by fans. It's bcs we later see his caring side. It's like in romantic movies the guy kidnaps the girl but bcs he showed care towards her suddenly he doesn't seem bad. Also Deku's kind nature act as a device for our feeling. Had Deku called him bully we too would hv seen him in that light strongly. We were always introduced by Shoto's pov when it's comes to Endeavor and he hated him. Had we seen him through his own pov where he is doing everything bcs of his fear of lossing his family again ,most would hv sympathize with him like they did with Dabi and Bakugo.

I know people are blind to this aspect but I like that endeavors character arc involves him doing a very heroic thing. Confronting his own demons, the sins of his past, and attempting to repent and change. That’s a truly relatable story.
I don’t understand why everyone is so upset about enji trying to do better. I personally think it makes the story that much more interesting seeing how he’s trying to do better but his kids still won’t forgive him makes the story that much more better.
I like to think at one point Enji and Rei were actually once a happy couple after seeing Touya's past. But due to his obsession and the news of Touya's body not being able to handle his flames. It began to fall apart, when Touya died thats when all hell broke loose.
Honestly, I don't think this is forgiveness. She's more or less just seeing the good in someone horrible. As for me, while I can acknowledge that there's good in him, it's gonna take a lifetime's worth of atonement before I look at Endeavor any differently.
endeavor is honestly my comfort character. When natsu got hurt you saw the fear in his eyes. You saw how hard he tries to be a better father. It's not easy when he was trying so much to be number one only to be passed by a guy who then was shown to be in a weaker form. Endeavor was born with it. Katsuki has improved MUCH since middle school, same with endeavor from the start of the manga/anime, and if you don't like his character development get the fuck out.
I mean this scene makes more sense when you consider that Rei also believes she’s also responsible for Touyas “death” (cuz neither her or Endeavor knew how to talk to him) which ultimately pushed Endeavor over the edge completely.

Is it wrong when I see Enji, I sometimes think of Zuko from ATLA because Zuko use to treat his uncle bad but he still loved him and Same with Endeavor, he may have hurt them in the past but he still cares.

There's a passive quirk almost every character has called "Disregard" users of the quirk ignore child abuse, and either worship or make the abuser the number 1 hero.
Rei is much a victim as much Shoto is: Endavor bought his way into marrying her, used her to help breed the "perfect" child, she loved all her children equally but she tried to spend most of her time protecting Shoto because she knew what Enji would've done to shape Shoto into the "perfect" hero. Also, being the 2nd pro hero gave him immunity towards his family; police and politics defends the pros, so what Enji does only give him a slap on the wrist; If Rei told the police, then they don't care. Plus, she couldn't defend Shoto because she's not a fighter and Enji is tougher(and with the government protecting him), so there wasn't much she could do but take the beating. And all that drove her to the edge, which made her hate everything and anything that had to do with him, just like Shoto with his left side. What Rei did to Shoto was harsh but the reason behind it was Endavor. All of this started because of Endavor. Rei actually loves her family and is sorry and regret what she had done to Shoto but Enji isn't sorry and don't regret what he did because he believes it was for the greater good(even though it wasn't).

It occurs when hostages or *abuse victims* bond with their captors *or abusers.* This psychological connection develops over the course of the days, weeks, months, or even *years of captivity or abuse.* On top of which she was *sold by her family to a man for money* in case you didn't know it was common not that long ago for wealthy people in Japan to use their own daughters as bargaining chips so women where told to marry who ever their family head or father told them to commonly at the age of 16 where as men had to wait until 18 this was to prevent young women from marrying someone whom they knew of the same age to escape from being forced to marry a significantly older man. What I'm saying is she's probably a lot younger than we think. It honestly kinda pisses me off to hear Todoroki's Sister to so blatantly ignore the whole situation and her brother's feelings on the matter but to prioritize her own selfish desire for a happy perfect family and to ask them to forget the past and act like nothing happened and that it was all a bad dream.
Todoroki family issues are kind of depressing, endeavour tried to make a path to be beside all might so he found a ice quirk user to reproduce 4 kids with to get to shouto, other 3 kids despise him while shouto and rei know he cares for his family and doesn’t want any more harm now. If this was dekus story with his dad I doubt it would be any different than endeavours story.

There is a huge cultural divide in the western and eastern audiences and how they view Endeavor. Endeavor is like a classic asian business man. Completely focused on his work and doing everything to be the best. He may have been a bad parent but in japanese society he wouldn't be viewed as an abuser because he neglected his kids emotionally. Japan and asian countries have rigid family roles where the mother is the caregiver and father is the provider. The wife is supposed to be subservient to her husband and support him no matter what. All of this is way different than western society where women are now independent and arranged marriages don't happen anymore.

No one writes family dynamics as well as Horikoshi. I think that the Todoroki family is one of the best representations of an abusive family dynamic and the way he handles the healing process is just so beautiful. He really hit every mark, from Fuyumi who just wants to hold her family together and move on from the past to Natsu and Toya who have allowed their anger and rage to consume them, Toya more so than Natsu. It’s just so good. And I love the way how Midoriya and Bakugou handle Todoroki’s family dynamic. Bakugou is used to a little loving manhandling, and is at first confused about why a heavy hand is so bad, until he remembers that he’s talking to Shoto, who was physically abused, and he defers to Shoto. I can’t gush enough about how good Horikoshi did with the Todoroki family.

Low chance of happening, it's so obvious Touya hates the Todoroki family. The fan headcanon that he was this overprotective brother was wrong. He literally tried to kill Shoto by hugging him and burning him alive. Unless I read the manga wrong
It always struck me as odd that so many people hate Endeavor and think his irredeemable, while simultaneously loving and sympathizing with Dabi, but at the same time, it makes sense. It's relatable Villainy; Being an abusive father and husband obviously isn't even in the same ballpark as mass murder and terrorism, but people, especially young people (Who, in my experience, make up most of Dabi's fanbase) can relate to (Or rather, relate against) an abuser more than a serial killer.
It's the same reason Umbridge is so much more hated the Voldemort; I doubt most of us have ever encountered a dark lord of evil hell-bent on taking over the world, but a lot of us have probably met a sadistic douchebag who abuses what little power they have. -In both cases, I imagine their physical attractiveness also plays a factor, but that's none of my business.-

We were always introduced by Shoto's pov when it's comes to Endeavor and he hated him. Had we seen him through his own pov where he is doing everything bcs of his fear of lossing his family again ,most would hv sympathize with him like they did with Dabi and Bakugo.

I don’t understand why everyone is so upset about enji trying to do better. I personally think it makes the story that much more interesting seeing how he’s trying to do better but his kids still won’t forgive him makes the story that much more better.
I like to think at one point Enji and Rei were actually once a happy couple after seeing Touya's past. But due to his obsession and the news of Touya's body not being able to handle his flames. It began to fall apart, when Touya died thats when all hell broke loose.
Yeah that was pretty much the case. Things were going smooth until Touya's sensitivity to fire came into light.
Honestly, I don't think this is forgiveness. She's more or less just seeing the good in someone horrible. As for me, while I can acknowledge that there's good in him, it's gonna take a lifetime's worth of atonement before I look at Endeavor any differently.

endeavor is honestly my comfort character. When natsu got hurt you saw the fear in his eyes. You saw how hard he tries to be a better father. remember rei also ignores her children (other than shoto), and blames it all to enji. both are wrong, and bad parents, the kids deserve better.
She literally burned half of Todoroki’s face, and yet people still hail her as if she’s some perfect mother.
Rei is much a victim as much Shoto is: Endavor bought his way into marrying her, used her to help breed the "perfect" child, she loved all her children equally but she tried to spend most of her time protecting Shoto because she knew what Enji would've done to shape Shoto into the "perfect" hero. Also, being the 2nd pro hero gave him immunity towards his family; police and politics defends the pros, so what Enji does only give him a slap on the wrist; If Rei told the police, then they don't care. Plus, she couldn't defend Shoto because she's not a fighter and Enji is tougher(and with the government protecting him), so there wasn't much she could do but take the beating. And all that drove her to the edge, which made her hate everything and anything that had to do with him, just like Shoto with his left side. What Rei did to Shoto was harsh but the reason behind it was Endavor. All of this started because of Endavor. Rei actually loves her family and is sorry and regret what she had done to Shoto but Enji isn't sorry and don't regret what he did because he believes it was for the greater good(even though it wasn't).
