One thing I always loved about Thunder Birds was how the instrument panel just rolled around to the console and they both wrapped around the driver. Everything was centered around the driver, like the driver's own separate cockpit. A true personal luxury car!
I was 22 y/o and had a 68 (it ran but needed some work) when I went into the Air Force. My brother and his wife fell on hard times... I told my brother to sell it for a motor and tires for his car and a transmission for her car. They both kept their jobs!
My family had a 68 T-Bird that we sold in 1978. I bought a 69' T-Bird. Both cars had a 429ci Thunderjet Motor. Loved those cars and I love this one. What a beauty.
My parents had the 1967 4-door Landau with the 428, brittany blue with dark blue vinyl top and the same interior you see here, but in dark blue. It was an elegant ride. The 428 never had a single issue, very quiet and refined. They loved it. We replaced the worthless factory soft shocks with heavy duty shocks....what a difference, made the ride very controlled and much more nimble. Back then firm shocks coupled with those soft luxury car springs made for a much better driving experience. I miss that car.
The only thing more handsome than the front is the rear. On the Tudor, rear quarter glass retracts horizontally into the C pillars. Rear window defroster, AC vents to the rear seats, tilt-away steering, hydraulic multi-speed wipers (you could set them to intermittent). Sequential rear turns, hideaway headlights. The power window switches weren't on the doors but in the center console. A 5 inch wide strip of polished aluminum going right down the center of the headliner. So cool. The rear seats made you look and feel like a million bucks when you sat back there. From the drivers seat, you sat in a freakin' cockpit. What's cooler than that?
Never saw one of these before today. I watched "Getting even with dad" and this kind of car was in the movie. I'm 30 and a car guy so I can't believe I had missed this!
before the mkiii came along , the T-Bird faced such cars as the Toro, the Riv and the Eldo. But it gave a good account of itself, sales-wise, perhaps doing 50,000 per year. that's a lot of T-birds !
In 1967, Ford was starting to make 4-door models is because they wanted to see if it would become a successful idea to turn the car into a family sedan. But, It only lasted until 1971 in this body style due to I guess not good sales. After 1971, the T-Bird went back to just 2-door models until the end of production in 2005.
I had a baby teal blue 2door loved that car loved it wish it was still around the center box I used to put speakers in the coffee can pump to lift the lights man I used to carry the insurance company with me lol
Incredible design, I rank this with some of the more exotic euro cars of the time by Citroen and Mercedes. Though the T bird was probably more advanced, certainly a lot more powerful and also probably cost more; as many US motors of the 60s and 70s did!
But the Galaxie was Ford's bread and butter family car. The 67 T-Bird was meant to be more of a "Junior" Lincoln. Even had the same rear doors as the Continental.
In 1970, we had a neighbor who had a '67 Tbird and we had a '63 Tbird. It was our second car, my folks Pontiac LeMans was the first car. The neighbor's 2nd car was an old Ford pickup. The End.
Never understand why this car, or the other thunderbird generations that followed are not considered classic..the 55 was a nice car but (as the early Corvette) it looked too much as any Italian or British sports car. Usually people only remember the Chevelle, Camaro or mustang as classic, but this one looks classy and even better than a Cadillac from the same era.
These were all assembled in the Lincoln (Wixom) plant; lots of parts were shared. In fact, the 4-door T-Bird was the basis for the Continental Mark III.
If someone (like me who is a Canadian pensioner) would like to buy this model here, and in perfect condition, how much should you expect to pay this car today?
let me guess... you are from Michigan?? Difficult to tell from the accent :-)... question: is a suicide 4 door a STOCK option at that time?? Or is it a MOD??

Definitely the coolest car of 1967.
My first car! I bought it for $1000 and sold it for $2300 when I was 18.
One of the best looking cars ever.
Tobin Frost agreed I just bought one and I’m starting the build
My cousin owned one just like this for awhile during the 1970's. I loved that car. Would love to have one.
Once brought from Aunt really miss this car....

The four door Bird is the word!
My favorite 4-Door of all time.
Johnnyc drums if it’s going to have four doors suicide doors are the way to go for sure wish I could get one for my channel
Never saw one of these before today. I watched "Getting even with dad" and this kind of car was in the movie. I'm 30 and a car guy so I can't believe I had missed this!
Definitely the best looking four-door sedan ever made.
Suicide doors are just amazing. Wish more manufacturers did it it like this.
The slightly more offensive Mel Gibson totally agree it was so classy cars nowadays just aren’t the same
Had one in high school, loved it.

My brother owned and uncles owned Lincoln's..

It appears this one was equipped with the rare "SL" (Super Luxury) package. The fabric on the seats needs to be felt to be believed!
Always loved the hubcaps on these; '67 Shelbys had them also.
Hearing you guys speak always reminds me of classic Chicago Bears skits on SNL. RIP Chris Farley...
Da Bears
absolutely gorgeous car.. very nice job.

Love inst.cotpit look beautiful...
I have one with the 428 and special ordered by Don Shields of Utah!
Don i also have a 4 door 1967 428 car
I remember seeing these 4 Door Thunderbirds and I always thought that a more fitting name would have been the ‘’Galaxy 500”.
But the Galaxie was Ford's bread and butter family car. The 67 T-Bird was meant to be more of a "Junior" Lincoln. Even had the same rear doors as the Continental.
My very first car, except light blue. Then my sister sold it to pay her bills while I was out of town. Never got any money from it.

This is the first year for the four door T-birds.
The 4 Door models only lasted from 1967 to 1971 in this body style
The first example of an American 4 door coupe.
Awesome car!
My kind of car
I need leads on interior parts for a 67 Thunderbird 2 door if anyone knows any. Also the Rubber to go around the windows Thanks!

THe "sporty wheels" gives it a whole new looik
The 429 version was better :) 365hp stock 10hp less than the same year Cobra Jets
Lolled in Fove all over again!

Clean ASS 67 Thunderbird pure lURUXY
It borrows the steering wheel off the 1966-1967 lincoln continental, same as the idea of the suicide doors too
Love the suicide doors I wish they made cars today with as much class as they did then
