This season is the perfect response when people say "Superman is boring because he's invincible". He might be physically invulnerable to many things, but he is NOT invincible. I thought the way this season showed off how helpless Clark felt in the face of Lois' cancer was fantastic in the most heartbreaking way.
In other versions of the character, Superman can use his X-ray and heat vision and/or the Fortress' kryotonian science to cure cancer when its still just one or two cells. Personally, I like a Superman who's not borderline omnipotent and infallible.
@@UnifiedEntity -- I agree that there's a balance to be found. As the saying goes "Superman is always as strong as he needs to be". He can even be in two places at once (ex. the Superman Red and Superman Blue arc) Sometimes in life though, the right thing to do *is* to stand by rather than to rush in and try to fix things yourself. When you dig a little into the type of breast cancer Lois has in the show, it's got something like a 95% chance of recovery. 19 times out of 20, letting the doctors work will beat flying Lois off to the Fortress. This is also the first time in the character's history he's setting an example for his own children. And unlike the comics, it's much more of a mixed bag. And even though grey messages are usually really unsatisfying, that's life. "Right" and "Wrong" are ususally determined by general rules in foresight and what actually happened in hindsight. That doesn't help a person make a call in the moment one bit.
I won't lie, I was one of those people, but the show did a great job at showing how helpless he felt despite being as powerful as he is and has to rely on hope just like everyone else and now I think differently of him. He's still not my favourite hero, but he's gained a tonne of respect from due to the show.
I'm truly going to miss this show after Season 4. This show gave us the wholesome, boyscout, loving Superman we needed at the time and Tyler Hoechlin quickly became one of the best depictions of Superman in the modern era kick starting a whole new resurgence of good Superman media and content and how the characters still matters today, unlike how the DCEU really fum led the bag with the character and did more damage to Superman's image in the public eye
Sadly from what i've heard it ain't getting a s4 due to gun's superman. The show is awoesome but the cw part drags it down soo much,if it was a netflix show people would be losing their minds 😂
This show is what made me fall in love with Superman. And this season gave us the hardest line ever. "Clark, this isn't a job for Superman" "Oh he's not going"
Bro I'm 25 and this is my definitive superman. Like genuinely I went from , "superman's overated , Batman's more human then him " to "I'm actually pretty much a fan of supes ". Superman and Lois really is gonna be missed genuinely. Before season 4 comes I just wanna put a theory of mine out there. I always had the though that John would end up with the original version of superman's powers. Like leap buildings in a single bound , that kinda superman. Since Jordan is more a kin to modern Superman , it would be a nice call back for John to be the original version of supes. I mean the series opened on recreating the classic action comics cover , so I think itd make sense to come sorta full circle in a way with it. Just a personal theory I had
I somehow watched this entire show under the impression that season three was the end and it was canceled. I was so shocked when it ended the way it did, and then incredibly relieved we had one more season. I absolutely adored the whole ride. The show made me cry seemingly every other episode. And then season three happened and it was every episode. I love everything about Superman and Lois
This past season really hit me. A week before they revealed it, my sister was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer. It was difficult because our mom passed away nine months earlier from neuroendocrine tumors on her liver. To say I wasn't in a good place is an understatement. I watched Superman & Lois in the hopes of an escape. When Lois revealed her breast cancer diagnosis, it hit me hard. The funny thing is, this season and subplot ended up being helpful for me. When Lois was diagnosed, I wrote on Twitter how well Bitsie Tulloch handled this subject and she was kind enough to reply with well wishes for my sister. I went with my sister Tuesday mornings to her chemo treatments, and Tuesday nights I'd watch the latest episode and be surprised how accurate and respectful they handled Lois's treatments and fears. It helped me to accept this isn't the end of the world and helped me as I helped my sister. She's getting better after chemo, surgery and radiation. Thankfully. I hope everything goes well with your mom, too. It's a long process but there is always hope. My best wishes to her and you.
I think at some point they say kryptonian technology possibly could be also they both agree it wouldn't be fair to use it only for Lois and humans arent ready for such powerful technology
In some versions of the character, Superman absolutely does have the ability to use heat vision to provide "radiation therapy" for cancer or as a surgical laser. For example, that's essentially how he beats Machester Black in "Superman vs the Elite". On the other hand, there's a first time for everything. It's entirely reasonable to believe Clark wouldn't think to practice and develop such a skill until a cancer scare with Lois or his mum gave him the idea. The fact that Lois has a type of cancer that responds extremely well to radiation and Clark can watch the treatment with his X-ray and microscopic vision is actually a good explanation for how Superman learns to cut out tumors and perfrom lobotomies with a hard stare.
I love it but do you remember when this show was supposed to be in the arrowverse ? Now, we have a under developed Superman, who just happened to look exactly like the Superman from Lois and Superman.

So I started watching the show about a year ago, I think, but stopped about 4 episodes in as I just didn't get time to watch it, and there were other things I wanted to watch. However, in the last few months, I managed to watch the 3 seasons, and I was genuinely shocked at how good it was. I'm not a big Superman fan as I always thought he was a goody two shoes (yeah, I know that's the point), but I always felt more drawn to Batman, especially since he's the more realistic version of a Superhero, just a normal guy with lot of money and is highly intelligent. But this show actually boosted Superman up in my head. He's still not my favourite, but he's gained a newfound respect from me, and in the times we're in at the minute, it's probably best to look to someone like Superman rather than Batman, someone who is just good and tries to do his best and the 3rd season got to me. Seeing a man who can seemingly do anything and save anyone from harm is now forced to watch his wife, the love of his life, suffer from cancer, something he can't stop using his powers and I admired the strength he had to hold back from using Kryptoian tech to try and help Lois. Seeing the family go through so much in the 3 seasons is tough, especially when I related to Jordan a lot of the time as I, too, suffer with social anxiety and missing that confidence to be able to express himself. I will agree that Jordan does seem to get the bad end of the stick in season 3 as although it was just a kiss, he did get cheated on. Sure, he makes mistakes, but like you said, with what he gives through, I think at times, he's allowed to make those mistakes. I'm genuinely hyped for Season 4 but also gutted that it's the final season, especially since I've just gotten into it. But I'm curious as to what they'll do to end it, and hopefully, the new Superman film took some pointers from the show.
May G-D bless your mother both in health and in happiness 🙏❤️ I also want to thank you for all of your videos, you are probably my favorite channel on here
I honestly haven't seen much if anything about this show. Heard it was coming out and then next it has three seasons. Wow how time flies. Thank you for covering it 🙏😄
I'm so glad you got to S3 of S&L - I've been so eagerly waiting this essay. I also really enjoyed the angle you took in your review of it. Clark as Lois's caregiver was so GD romantic and beautiful - like, talk about goals.
I agree with everything in this video and wanna shoutout Tyler Hoechlin as Clark Kent. He just makes me feel good; he's comforting, kindhearted, funny, dorky and realistic
I will say this, the fact that the show is only getting one more season because of the whole WB DC shakeup is a freaking tragedy. This was probably one of the best Superhero shows out there, and as someone who grew up with Superman shows in the animated series and Smallville this show just felt right. The writers here just understood him as a character.
I love this whole video. The show is beautiful, and you articulated why perfectly. However, I’m LOVING this new Lex… and I’m excited to see how these writers subvert our expectations of him.
If Superman was truly invincible he wouldn't be good. It's a weird thing to think about but it makes sense. There's a reason that brightburn is so so significantly different whilst you know not really being that different either but in a good way. Cuz while Clark grew up being taught good things and experiencing bullies and living life as a regular ass kid that had to worry about getting through school and life as an actual person, knowing the complexities and the harms that people inflict on one another. Clark got to grow into a human Brandon got thrown into that. He never got a chance to try to become human because by the time he was even conscious as a person to be able to start living his life The alien that brought him here possesses him and turned him into a super villain Then everyone tries to pretend like that something he caused. That this little kid who's had no ability to ever learn the tragedies of the world, ever have to learn people are weak, they're nowhere as strong as him, that there are people who can't defend themselves even more so than he couldn't what he didn't have powers because he's always hacked them. Brandon is a circumstance of someone being given abilities against their will, forcing a responsibility on them they never wanted, and then reacting negatively when that person finally breaks from being completely removed from everything they've been given up to that point
After watching this I wanted to post a counter argument about how season 3 was such a drastic tonal and narrative shift from especially season 1 and so on, but... i deceded against it. You know, that does not matter. My critique is irrelevant to the biggest point made. I'm glad this season and Lois' storyline resonated with you and tapped into all those feelings. And that's all.
I will admit my same frustrations of much of the drama being played out a little too much, making some scenes a bit unbearable because I just wanted a season to be a bit more wholesome but I'm still grateful for the moments Tyler's superman gave with his family and others that gave justice to the character that hasn't been seen in a while👏
What would have been insane would have been seeing his son slowly transition into an uncontrollable villain and seeing superman make the impossible choice to put him in the phantom zone. How crazy and how much of a tear jerker would that have been. Too bad we'll never see anything like that because they cancelled the show
Yeah, they definitely set it up to be with the ending of Crisis, but then it mostly stopped there, except for participating in "Diggle's useless Green Lantern ring tour".
I'm glad it's not in the Arrowverse, to be honest. After Crisis things weren't the same and this show has such a different tone and feel that id prefer it didn't have the baggage of Supergirl or need to reference other shows.
Superman and Lois is such a great superman show been awhile since we had one I’m hoping it ends on a high note and not rushed but such a shame it’s ending 😢
Great vid, I love ur videos they always make me feel better about a rough day. Would you make a X-men 97 essay? I really liked that show :) I'm 14 so I have never seen the old X-men animated show but 97 that one really makes me like the X-men without even reading the comics or watching some movies.
Oooh yeah good memories, really cool season, I didnt get where it was going until I saw it come together at the end with Death of Superman oh ye right Jordan was difficult, and I could barely notice the actor change for Jon lol Also electro swing background music jumpscare
I honestly think it was a major step up from season 2 but still has its issues from the previous season, mainly the Cushin/Lang family. However, I like the development of Clark, Jonathan and Jordy this season. Lois still gets on my nerves. Bruno was such a great villain this season and ending with Abraham Lex who isore menacing than his main arrowverse counterpart, though he lacks his narcissism. Honestly I can't wait for season 4 and see how it wraps up the entire arrowverse.
Season 3 was in my opinion The Best one so far. It had the running theme of Death comes for Everyone and there's nothing Even Superman can do to stop it. A reminder that as Powerful as Superman is he's not a god, he's not some modern messiah, he's a human just like the rest of us with the added bonus of having Superpowers. And that humanity and love for the people closest to him is what makes him the world's greatest superhero.
I've always thought CW-verse Superman is corny and campy, and Hoechlin is probably my second least favorite take on the character after Dean Cain, but Seaosn 4 showed me he's got chops and the show has a reason to exist.
I don't know what people see in this show. I just listened to you talking for five minutes about absolutely nothing that has to do with either Superman or Lois Lane. Tried watching season one but the bad CGI, cheesy dialogue and horrible villain just ripped me out of it entirely. It's kinda sad because I loved Lois & Clark, Smallville, even the animated series, so I really wanted to like it.
before this show, I did not care much for this version of superman and lois. The supergirl show did everything possible to one up him without really earning that. I did not feel the chemistry between clark and lois until this series. The writers really showed how a good script and directing can turn shit into gold.
I can't make the call for you, but I would say yes, it's actually one of the few shows I've seen tackle this subject with the sensitivity it deserves. It presents cancer as a problem for the family to overcome and shows how it affects everyone, it's not just put there for character development.
Im truly sorry for your loss. I lost my Mom to neuroendocrine tumors a couple years ago and it still hurts. If you do decide to watch, know that the storyline isn't wrapped up in one episode. It goes through the season and goes through various stages of treatment. If you feel you're up to it, watch it but know it'll break your heart sometimes.
It's more to do with the CW rebranding itself for an older audience, buying already established shows rather than producing dramas. It got a final season because they need content during the transition and Superman & Lois is one of the more higher rated shows. I wish it could continue on HBO Max or whatever it's called these days but I don't see David Zaslav going for it. He'd probably cancel it before it arrived to save money.
Many of us in the comments felt something because family members had been diagnosed around the same time. Call it biased but cancer is pretty serious and it affects not only the person diagnosed but the people around them. It is a hard thing to go through even if you do survive it or if you have "plot armor"
Still the most weak and soy version of Superman who cries over silly drama lile be real here we come to watch colorful characters and superhero conflict not some poor attempt of emotional bait with a forced cancer plotline that does nothing interesting. And Clark's lack of disaplin for his kids is annoying and just makes me call into question why you shills eat up this trash?

Your videos are always awesome and brilliant and brighten my day
season 3 premiered 2 weeks after my dad was diagnosed with cancer. In every episode I found the strength to keep going
My sister was diagnosed the week before Lois told everyone her diagnosis. And yeah, the season helped a lot.
I hope your dad is doing okay!
@@superby1Thank you. He's fully recovered now. Sadly he doesn't like to follow the doctor's instructions. Hope your sister is better
@@netzach21 glad to hear about your dad. And thank you! My sister is doing better.
My mom got diagnosed last year we just reaching a year of chemo. This season helped me too.
@@VexxtheVoid I hope all is well with her!
Love the title change
Clark got to grow into a human
Brandon got thrown into that. He never got a chance to try to become human because by the time he was even conscious as a person to be able to start living his life The alien that brought him here possesses him and turned him into a super villain
Then everyone tries to pretend like that something he caused.
Season 2 was way worse than this one along with watching Naomi was a struggle.
@NexusNoxCS That is an incredibly mature mindset. Kudos to you 🙂
I will admit my same frustrations of much of the drama being played out a little too much, making some scenes a bit unbearable because I just wanted a season to be a bit more wholesome but I'm still grateful for the moments Tyler's superman gave with his family and others that gave justice to the character that hasn't been seen in a while👏
What would have been insane would have been seeing his son slowly transition into an uncontrollable villain and seeing superman make the impossible choice to put him in the phantom zone. How crazy and how much of a tear jerker would that have been. Too bad we'll never see anything like that because they cancelled the show
I’m all set with evil supermen
Remember when this show was supposed to be in the arrowverse ?
no
Yeah, they definitely set it up to be with the ending of Crisis, but then it mostly stopped there, except for participating in "Diggle's useless Green Lantern ring tour".
In the beginning, this was supposed to be set in the arrowverse but plans got changed.
I'm glad it's not in the Arrowverse, to be honest. After Crisis things weren't the same and this show has such a different tone and feel that id prefer it didn't have the baggage of Supergirl or need to reference other shows.
This Superman is better then the arrowverse Superman.
In the All Star Superman scene, it’s a goth boy…
Superman works best as a dork with Godlike powers instead of a God trying act like human.
Beautiful show
I've never even heard of this show before. What? ö
I like that Lex Luthor is a beefy guy in this show especially compared to the nerdy twink Lex Luthor's we got recently
jonathan was my favorite character superman's son with no powers, interesting, new. and the actor quit. fml.
I’m sorry to hear about your mother ❤
Oooh yeah good memories, really cool season, I didnt get where it was going until I saw it come together at the end with Death of Superman
oh ye right Jordan was difficult, and I could barely notice the actor change for Jon lol
Also electro swing background music jumpscare
1:28 I hope your mum's alright by now, and if she isn't I pray for it
I honestly think it was a major step up from season 2 but still has its issues from the previous season, mainly the Cushin/Lang family.
Very sad but also very awesome
Season 3 was in my opinion The Best one so far. It had the running theme of Death comes for Everyone and there's nothing Even Superman can do to stop it. A reminder that as Powerful as Superman is he's not a god, he's not some modern messiah, he's a human just like the rest of us with the added bonus of having Superpowers. And that humanity and love for the people closest to him is what makes him the world's greatest superhero.
I've always thought CW-verse Superman is corny and campy, and Hoechlin is probably my second least favorite take on the character after Dean Cain, but Seaosn 4 showed me he's got chops and the show has a reason to exist.
good season
This season showed us the real effects of cancer
I don't know what people see in this show. I just listened to you talking for five minutes about absolutely nothing that has to do with either Superman or Lois Lane. Tried watching season one but the bad CGI, cheesy dialogue and horrible villain just ripped me out of it entirely. It's kinda sad because I loved Lois & Clark, Smallville, even the animated series, so I really wanted to like it.
I just missed incle Tal
I just finished watching the season a couple hours ago
It was lot of great ending
But man when I realized her name of Peia cause of Onomato-Peia lol
w video im going to watch the tv show
Hug for you and you mom
Amazing show! Lovelly review!!!
Never heard of this show, neat.
before this show, I did not care much for this version of superman and lois. The supergirl show did everything possible to one up him without really earning that. I did not feel the chemistry between clark and lois until this series. The writers really showed how a good script and directing can turn shit into gold.
Not gonna lie, didn't know Jordan had a change of actors
Lost my mom to cancer . should I watch this?
It’s ultimately your choice but it’s a good video
Are you going to talk about the lex part of the season
Love your videos also idk why they are canceling the show
It's more to do with the CW rebranding itself for an older audience, buying already established shows rather than producing dramas. It got a final season because they need content during the transition and Superman & Lois is one of the more higher rated shows.
I wish it could continue on HBO Max or whatever it's called these days but I don't see David Zaslav going for it. He'd probably cancel it before it arrived to save money.
Season 3 was good, but it doesn’t seem to be good enough to be the second to last season of the show
I didn't really like Season 3 but hope it can end well in Season 4
I love Season 3, but I hated the Langs by the end of this season.
I disagree about Sarah. I like her in this season more than last season by a solid margin.
I had difficulty feeling any sense of seriousness when a character with plot armor gets cancer. We all knew immediately Lois would be fine.
Many of us in the comments felt something because family members had been diagnosed around the same time. Call it biased but cancer is pretty serious and it affects not only the person diagnosed but the people around them. It is a hard thing to go through even if you do survive it or if you have "plot armor"
My wife was going through treatment at the time. The positive vibe sure as hell helped me.
@@Saje3D wishing your wife nothing but the best! And for you as well 😂
Lex is just a guy, that's the point
I enjoy elements of Superman and Lois, but I believe Smallville was a much better Superman story
i watched one episode of season 3 and hated it 😭💀
I understand that
Still the most weak and soy version of Superman who cries over silly drama lile be real here we come to watch colorful characters and superhero conflict not some poor attempt of emotional bait with a forced cancer plotline that does nothing interesting.
And Clark's lack of disaplin for his kids is annoying and just makes me call into question why you shills eat up this trash?
