Thank you so much for posting this. Your translations are breathtaking and so fitting it’s everything I see in this song. I found this song just a few hours ago and was looking for English lyrics cause my Mandarin is not enough. Thank you so much for preserving the lyrics so beautifully!
Thank you! Translating lyrics is always hard work that will use a lot of time to think and read, with your translation more people can understand the beautiful meaning of this song. To be honest I have thought for a long time about how to translate it nicely and was surprised when I see you have already done a great job.❤
Amazing! I once considered translate it as 'What Can I Do to Make You Stay', but the version you translated seems better! May I use it as the English subtitles for AMV? I will credit your work in the description. Thank you so much!🥰
About ur bio, I think music is the core of a song instead of lyrics. You can feel the emotion radiated if a song match ur soul, even have known nothing about the language.
Thanks for your comment! I definitely agree with you that music transcends language barriers and can move us in profound ways. My point is that the lyrics aren't there just so we can call it a "song", because unfortunately with pop songs we tend to treat the lyrics as secondary to the music. The music carries the emotion, but the lyrics carry the message; not one is greater than the other. It is only with the perfect marriage of music and lyrics that a song can convey true meaning.
"What can I hold you with" can mean something different. The title is suggesting that the speaker wants you to hold you back from something, most likely your self-destruction, as in the context of the song. So it is more like "What should I use to keep you?". It's still proper grammar, not "borges" at all.
This song reminds me of my Chinese friend.... He moved to another country,, i miss you ❤️😭

吸毒还可以原谅,贩毒呢?可以吗?多少人家破人亡,吸过毒的人灵魂已经卖给魔鬼了。不因为人而否定作品,不因为作品而原谅人
Thank you

我认为你说的不对,因为汉语歌词的意境很广大所以这首歌非常出色,这首歌不是因为乐调好而出色的。不知道翻译成英语歌词的意境还有多少。
当然无法完全被传达,但我尽量用类似的修辞来保留那诗般的语感。这也正是我做这些视频的主要目的。
Pretty good! The title of the song is likely just 'What can I hold you with' however, because Borges and all
