    Playas
I apologize. I was editing and counting and counting over and over. I couldn’t understand why the score kept coming to 79 when i knew it was 80. I counted 5 on the 13th and never even realised it was a 6. I had to pretend there was a fluffed bunker shot on the par 5 15th but there wasnt. That was a double bogey. The score is 80. I just screwed up the counting while editing and couldnt lie about a 79.

I almost quit golf after shooting 110 and 3 years of playing twice a month and practicing short game 1-2 times a week. I just shot 92-86-86 in my last 3 rounds for my all time lowest score of 86! Thanks Matt and Bdog for helping me find hope and getting me to not give up the greatest game. If Bdog can shoot 80 so can I! Especially after watching him over a year ago when he was shooting around 100!

Best memory happened last week. I was solo. Hitting on a par 3. There was a group of 4 playing ahead of me, I thought they had left the par 3(nothing on the green) after I had hit, I could see them coming out of the woods, heading to the green area. I yelled at them and they watched my shot stop 6" from the hole. I apologized to them, but they were cheering for me instead of being mad. Ended up finishing the round with those guys.

Best memory of the season was watching my buddy win his first club championship by shooting a 41/41 (82) and a 48/36 (81) over two rounds. The par 36 was his lowest nine holes of his life and he planted at least five feathers and played the 3-3-3 system in the way of the Playa. Best memory of this golf season...
...was when I got 103 on a score card after going through "How to break 100" 6 episodes. I did my best to follow all the rules and my colleague summarized the round for me all I could do is seat down and breathe as I couldn't believe that after a solid year of playing >120 I saw 103 on a score card (too many memories and tries went through my head to be still standing). That just hit me out of nowhere, was unexpected. I like now golf more and looking forward to the 9 as a first digit on a score card :) Thank you life changing golf Guru! :) Greetings from Poland.

Playa! My favourite memory was YESTERDAY! I ran in to a guy wearing the 'holes' shirt you're wearing in this video at Angus Glen Golf Club in Markham, Ontario Canada (playing in a best ball tourney) and said, "Hey Playa, best ball is not playing WOTP!" He proceeded to show me his planting feathers towel, his feather divot tool, and so I said "Matt's the Baus and I'm happy to be one of his disciples!" He concurred. It was my first run in with a fellow Playa!! Keep it up brother, I remember B Dog's first video - wow he's come a LONG way, and MOST of it is mental, not mechanical! Love you boyfriend! :)

My best memory of this season ... I mostly play in nine hole after work leagues. Been working on swing mechanics w/ a coach for the last nine months... earlier this season, I knew I was hitting the ball better, but not much score improvement. Then I found Golf Sidekick! That was when I realized that my problem wasn't so much the inability to strike the ball well as much as it was how to play the game! Very subtle, but powerful! I have been playing golf for over 50 years, and this season I shot my first ever 40. I was 1 over with 4 left to play when disaster happened ... a big, ugly triple bogey! I remembered your words, got my shit together to par the next hole, and finish bogey, birdie for my first ever 40.... I lifted a glass in your general direction that night man! Thanks for all you do!

My favourite memory this season was a team scramble event, 4 drives to count per playa. The highest handicap in our group had struggled off the tee all day, he hit a good one of the 16th but I hit a beast which put us in such a good spot we had to use it. He still needed two drives! We get to the 17th, tee is at the back with 160yards of long deep shiza to carry.
He steps up, all of us hold our breath, he swings, makes decent contact. I run up the tee box to see the land half a yard passed the rough rolling out down the fairway! "It's made it, it's actually made it" I shout, we all cheer. I've never been so happy on the course!

  • @jameskbaylis
    @jameskbaylis 3 года назад

My first eagle! It was a par 5. I hit a good drive, then a good hybrid 3 which left me about 85 yards to an elevated green. I hit my 54° wedge. It came out low and hot. I thought it would have gone long. I had recently learned how to compress the ball though. And I see the ball land left of the pin. I can't tell how much past the hole it is, but I see the ball start rolling to the right, closer and closer to the pin, and then... it disappeared! One of my playing partners yelled, "it went in!" The other two didn't even see it. One's eyesight is just that bad and the other one had his head down as he was preparing for his next shot.
That's my first and only eagle to date and that's my favorite memory from this season.
Thanks Playa. Love watching your videos and playing no stress golf.

This was a real breakthrough season for me, so a bunch of good memories. I had an eagle courtesy of a jarred wedge shot from 70 yards on a par-4. I had a hole-in-one early on in the season, in January. And I shot two rounds of even par, one on my home course and one in Nebraska with my Dad and Mom. So that last one is probably my favorite, really. And still so much to work on in the game! That's what I love (and hate) about golf: there's always something to work on; always something to improve.

15 handicap - and this year, it was first breaking 90, and now, I've broken 80 at two different courses. Both 79's - and today, three birdies (first ever back to back, and first ever more than two in a round). Getting out of my head and choosing the right shots has been key. Prime example was today - Par 5. 265 to the hole over a ravine/hazard. I'm watching two guys pull out 3 woods to try and get it over. They both fail. I'm standing there with a 9 iron to lay up, and then a 100 yard chip with a 2 putt par.
Bought a bucket hat off of you - wife hates it, I love it, and I'm having fun with it. Thank you for making this fun.

My favorite memory this year was hitting an approach into green side bunker and saying to my friend as I stepped into the bunker "I'm glad I'm in the beach watch me drain this". I proceeded to dig my feet in swing as hard as I could behind the ball and watched the ball magically and miraculously fly up in the air, take one bounce 5 feet from the hole and from about 3 inches roll right in. I threw my sand wedge in the air jumped out of the bunker threw up my hands and my friends went crazy as I front flip/rolled down the grassy slope and sprinted about 40 yards before coming back to the green and picking up the ball from the hole.

    Favorite memory time !
I did a lot of reps on the same course this summer to try and break 100. I ended up breaking it on 2 other courses before this one course since there was no mental pressure or goal. But I still wanted to achieve it on that one. My prior best score was 100 and I've had other nail biter endings.
One time on hole 17 I pulled a miraculous par save. We're talking lipping out of a bunker I couldn't see 45 degrees towards the hole leaving me 3 ft short rather than 20. Because of this I go into 18 feeling invincible and overconfident, smash my tee shot with a hard hook and it all tumbled down to a triple bogey.
On my last game there, I'm having a killer back 9. The best I've ever had. I tell this to my group on hole 17 after missing green in regulation by 3 yards. A minute after I chip it in for birdie from 10-15 yards. I go into 18 fearing myself a little. I don't want to be dumb and invincible like the last time. I nearly did the opposite : chicken out and play super conservatively.
But I didn't. I trusted how I played the last 9 holes. I didn't try to do any hero superman shot. I didn't run away to playing break 100. I stuck to playing breaking 90. Nearly perfect too. Best tee shot of the day, 140y approach playing my shape and leaving myself a 5 footer. Dropped the birdie putt by a hair, nearly giving myself my 1st back to back birdie. Tap in par.
I carded a 91 (+21) improving my best score there by 9. And that was with a +16 front nine. The score is not even the important part. That back 9 was a glimpse into the playa I was meant to be. Not the one trying to break 100 and play bogey golf, but the one that learned what playing high 80s look like.

My favourite memory of the season ... playing foursomes with my golf buddy and she fluffed a drive on a par 3, I hi it a sweet 8i to be pin high just off to the right for a bogey. We won the day! Great times.

My best memory of this season was my hole in one back in June. It was witnessed by 3 of my best buddies from teenage years and honestly they were more excited than I was which made me happy. We enjoyed a great evening after over many beers, dinner and a dip in the pool. 162 yards to an elevated green with a 6 iron, lucky shot but I’ll take it! Waddalife ⛳️🍻👊

Amazing how Bdog’s swing has improved in such a short time. WADDAPLAYA! Also, so impressed that our favorite golf sidekick is working with others to improve their game as well. Waytogo!

I have banished myself to irons only on the course for a good 6 months or so whilst practicing hard with driver behind the scenes to try and patch up our rocky relationship. Finally put her back in the bag this week and had some decent results. A few wild ones still but hit 5 fairways with it and not a single off-the-planet NASA ball.

Favourite of this season and my so far overall. Played in a Pro-Am with two 11 yr olds. 29 WHS Handicaps then a 134 slope (35). They had to play off max 24 Mens Competition tees 🤯. Smooth all day 150 yards off the tee. The smallest junior had a smile on his face all day even when no scoring. 18th hole he nailed his driver 224 yards to 8 feet and won nearest the pin £25 quid amd we came 3rd overall 19 under . Give the gold divot tool to the little guy and I'll buy one for the other 11yr old.
    Awesome

Yestarday, I planted a feather on 4 greens on my home course while playing. One for each birdie opportunity. I made one (first in home club, best memory at golf - so far), and 4 pars on a 9 hole tournament. Ended up +5 on 9 holes with a 24 HDCP. Your systems works!!! I was 36 playing 105 4 months ago. BTW, my partners were technically better than me, but made all the mistakes you point out in your videos. You're the best. THANK YOU SO MUCH!

I had the most amazing round yesterday, superb weather (probably the last warm day for the year where I live) and a new work buddy brought me to his home course. It was in immaculate condition and I managed to not only use the same ball the whole round, I broke 100 with a total of 99 as well!

My Fav memory was with regular playing partner, we entered in the Club Champs and drew each other for the first round!
I came back to level the match play score on the 18th with a birdie, but he took me out on the 19th with a 15 foot putt!
We both scored just under our handicaps and was the best game of golf I've ever had.
Both competitive and fun, the way it should be !

Watching B-Dog's prorgress has been fun.
Favorite memory of the season? Probably going way of the playa in a skins game last month. Had my partners trying to talk me out of hitting driver on a short par 4. But I wasn't comfortable with the 3 wood since I couldn't miss left on this hole. And mid iron didn't excite me. So I hammered the driver and proceeded to make a long putt to win some dough. I just had to play what I was comfortable with.

My best memory this season was finally breaking 100! Shot a 98 and managed to keep the same ball the entire 18, my wee Mojo 2 ball! The way of the playa has definitely been an eye opener for me

Fav memory - was having an absolutely horrendous round but was keeping my head in the game as per the WOTP. On the 9th hole I planted a feather and like magic everything turned around. I made 3 birdies on the back 9 - I've only had 3 birdies in my life prior to then. One birdie was because I missed a 7 foot eagle putt - so be it! I was so pumped I ate lunch and played another round and shot my personal best like a baus!! Plant feathers grow birdies - it's science!!!

My favorite memory was the amazing feeling after smoking my drive and fairway wood shot to land on a 545 yard par 5 green at my home course in 2 strokes. It is hard to ignore the trauma of the 4 putt that followed though XD

I shot a 35 on the back 9 at my local back in June. When I have trouble sleeping, I replay this round in my head to put myself at ease. I usually drift off somewhere around the birdski on 16.

Wahahaha...I can't believe how incredibly classic that 18th hole chip in was. When I was trying to break 80, the exact same thing happened to me 5 times or so. I laughed so hard when I saw it. True golfing classic caught on video. Thank you for capturing it.

Favourite memory from this season was 2 eagles in a 3 hole span! Driver + hybrid from 230 out to 20 feet, and a Driver + 5 iron to about 12 feet.
Was going to play 14/15 holes (twilight round) but after pulling this off on 8 and 10 I just walked off the course!!

As someone who used to usually break 80 but is now constantly fighting to break it this video hits home lol... In my prime as a junior I played competitively and I was a low single digit handicapper usually breaking 80 and occasionally flirting with par. I got away from the game for a while only playing sporadically for like a decade (3-4 times a year) until starting to play more often now (3 -4 times a month) recently and have now plateaued right around 80 (usually in the low 80's and occasionally upper 70's). I really believe that my game outside 100 yards is good enough to be around scratch...I average around 290-300yards with my driver and hit most fairways (most par 5's on public courses are reachable in 2 for me)...my irons and full wedges are decent...However, inside 100 yards and around the green is where I fall off...I usually lose a several shots a round on bad 3 putts and easy putts inside 5 feet (around 2-4 strokes a round)...My chipping is also sub par .I'd say I lose at least 5-7 shots most rounds from my poor short game alone...on top of that I often find myself in trouble and I'll go for low percentage shot instead of punching out or not laying up when it's obviously the best option..It's crazy how sometimes I'll look back on a round where one bad decision kept me from breaking 80, and if I combined that good decision making with a solid short game I could of possibly flirted with par...
