Man I still can't believe that Salina(where I live) got so lucky that weekend. Two major tornadoes headed right for the city both lifted before they went through the town. It also suprises me on how big the tornadoes actually were!! Great job on capturing this beauty.
It means that the debri cloud makes it look a mile wide, but if the debri cloud is that big, you can damn well bet the center is of the tornado is pretty big and powerful aswell.
2:20 Was that an anticyclonic vortex? Just stood out and looked odd. Hilariously, more reminiscent of those weak to moderate occasional vortices we get in New Zealand, which rotate clockwise. Guess I'm just so used to following Storm Chasing in the States that cyclonic vortices (for me) look odd. 😂
I love how at 1:10 he's just strolling along having a casual chat on his cell phone while that beast of a tornado is crossing the road a stone's throw away.
What always amazes me is how close you can see some of the other cars are to tornadoes in these videos. When you see the tornado crossing the road you can see the brake lights of the cars way up the road. No way would I have the guts to get that close to that thing!
Awesome video, but so many of these would be 10 times better if you can figure out how to use some kind of mount or tripod. (And some need to lay off the zoom function).
I have question here, anyone feel free to answer. I remember seeing a while back a "mile wide tornado." Now does that literally mean in 1 mile everything is just being obliterated and completely wiped clean off the ground? or is the center of the tornado really messing stuff up and the debris cloud is 1 mile wide?
I know the video gets overly shaky at times and I am sorry about that, I am shooting in the back left seat of the truck in this video, because professional photographer greg johnson is shooting in the front, my camera is quite heavy to hold steady with outstretched arms.
most of the camera shake was from the fact i was sitting in the back seat and had to lean with outstretched arms to film at all and wasn't able to brace myself very well.....
I am also Spanish speaking but not from Mexico. You should not resort to offending people because they are different or happen to make a silly statement. Relax.
Dear Chris Streeks, Do yourself and all of us a favor and hand the camera to someone who is not completely worthless. If he's not going to make an effort to hold the camera steady, why have him in the car at all? Let him know he ruined what could have been some of the most impressive tornado footage RUclips and the world has ever seen.
in july on 2008 when the floods and storms hit Iowa(were i live) near the town Hazelton they did have a one mile wide tornado i went to help clean up the town and trust me...not the best thing to see scary i tell you
I know there's adrenaline pumping, but "road warrior" chasing is embarrassing. I much prefer chasers that stay humble, cautious and *quiet* when nature takes center stage. I agree with another comment that this could have been one of the most impressive video documentations of a large, super-powerful twister.
i belive it was a tornado possibly a mile wide it has happend before but i think it means the debri and damage spread over a mile in the path either way i guess it would mean both ways...i still wouldn't go after it lol
Thats nasty looking and mean! It's copping some multiple vortexes. Just think what this could do in say downtown St.Louis or a suburb instead of a cow pasture.

10 years later and it's still terrifying to watch, it just barely missed me and my family

Woah! I've seen many videos like these but NEVER have I seen actual rotation like that. Insane and amazing!
Maybe best tornado video I've seen this season. Very scary stuff. Great job. Stay safe.

WOW! Great video!!
Probably the best footage ive seen from that entire day
That is a monster tornado WOW
The Fujita scale has the E on it for Enhanced. The winds speeds where done all over and E was add on.
What Time Did This Tornado Happen Was It 3:00PM 4:00PM 5:00PM 6:00PM 7:00PM Or 8:00PM?
Awesome video, but so many of these would be 10 times better if you can figure out how to use some kind of mount or tripod. (And some need to lay off the zoom function).
Bit too shaky.
all i have to say is how did that tornado not take the cars in front of it
Multi vortex with that grinding horizontal edge out front, just like Tuscaloosa footage from last year

Huh?
Insane upward motion with this tornado
thats what I thought as well! glad there were so few structures in the way of this one!

Tornado Crossing, much? I seriously can't imagine being on the road and having that juggernaut just PASS RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME. o___o
I agree, but I know if I were filming it, I'd be shaking like a leaf! lol.

I'd like to see some of these youtubers go and catch some wobble-free tornado footage! ;)

Krass !!!
