I worked for an EB company in the UK for many years. I made lots of friends on an individual level, but we all knew there were lines that THEY (not me lol) couldn’t cross, and we all knew they got paid loads more than I did.
Being a rather vocal atheist, I’d often engage them in lively conversations about various religious topics and they had no idea what to do or how to respond. Often, I was the only dissenting voice they’d ever encountered. But, we were friends and I knew I could push the boundaries and hopefully provoke them to ask questions of themselves. I had a few run ins with the higher ups, but never felt that my position was in jeopardy.
But I’m a bloke and I was good at making them money, and I didn’t experience the misogyny firsthand although I saw it regularly. But the arrogance was there, even though they tried to hide it.
I still miss that job snd still consider my former colleagues victims more than perpetrators.

I worked for a PBCC company and lasted only 1 month working there. I was the only outsider in the office, the rest were all family - the one thing I learnt fast was 'don't ask questions', even if it's work related! I found the whole experience dumbfounding to say the least. Everyone looked miserable and traumatised. The higher ups had a superiority complex and thought they were better than everyone else. Glad I got away from it all.

I worked at a place owned by the brethren cult. I only lasted 3 hours. I walked into the wrong entrance when I arrived, all the ladies in the reception area were really nice and explained I had to use another door. I had an hour of being told what I can't do, 15 minutes of them explaining my job. I had to pick pens pencils and other stationary supplies put them in a box and put a tag on it. Simples, 1 item I needed was not in its correct area and I didn't know what it was so I asked the manager and he stormed over to the rack and picked up an item from another area and placed it in its correct spot and then looks at me and says. "it is here" and walked off. I put a few extra items into that box and walked out, through the wrong door into the reception and said goodbye to the ladies at reception. F them
