    Call description:
Calvert County Sheriffs and Maryland State Police responded to a shooting that occurred between 10:40 and 10:50 Eastern Standard Time the late Friday night of May 11, 2022 in the area of Orwell Court and Yardley Drive in the neighborhood of Yardley Hills, followed by a single-vehicle crash that occurred as a result of the shooting. Upon Maryland State Police officers arrival, as they were first to the scene, troopers observed three occupants in the vehicle, one of whom had suffered an apparent gunshot wound. The vehicle involved in the crash was a 2008 dark blue Lexus with Maryland registration. The preliminary investigation indicates the driver of the Lexus was backing into a parking space on Orwell Court when a gunshot was reportedly fired and struck one of the occupants. The driver then accelerated in attempt to avoid anymore gunfire and in a panic, struck multiple parked vehicles before the vehicle overturned and landed on its side on Orwell Court. Troopers from the Prince Frederick Barrack established a perimeter around the area, and a search was initiated. Criminal Enforcement Division assisted with establishing a perimeter as well, as they also responded with State Police to the scene of the crime. The Calvert County Sheriff's Office provided search assistance as well. Crime scene technicians from the Maryland State Police Forensic Sciences Division also responded to process the scene for evidence. During a canvass of the crime scene, a handgun and multiple shell casings were located near the crash scene. One victim, the backseat passenger of the vehicle involved in the crash, sustained a gunshot wound to the abdomen and was transported by MedEvac to the University of Maryland Capital Region Medical Center for treatment. Two other victims were also injured in the crash. They were transported by ground to CalvertHealth by Solomons Rescue Squad Volunteer Fire Department Ambulance 2-37 Priority 3 (non-life threatening injuries) for treatment. Gunman has been arrested after a few days of surfing. To anyone who knows any other person connected to the shooting is urged to call Maryland State Police at Prince Frederick Barrack U, at 410-535-1400. Callers may remain anonymous.
