Ok, so hear me out. Make all the other subs follow the same vein of slow speed, manual deck gun, etc. just as a way to overall balance the sub class, AND make it so that sonar pings can only lock onto other subs. Homing torps should ONLY exist to help you fight other subs, they should NOT be able to lock onto surface vessels. Lemme know what you think.
Best way to use the torps is to give your torpedos time to travel(usually about half the distance to the target) and use the ping to the the torpedo terminal homing to the target. the soviet sub is the only one that Ive found not worth it using the acoustic torpedos

It has always befuddled me how the IJN could have arguably mediocre submarines that they never utilized with much elan or effect. Yet they had the world's finest torpedo that was the terror of ABDA. On the other side, the US had some of, if not the best submarines of the war ( granted my knowledge of British, French, & Italian subs is very limited ) and arguably the most comfortable... as comfortable as you could make a sub back then. And yet, we had the infamous Mk.13 torpedo, a cursed weapon that had cost the lives of many a Submariner. P.S. If they are going to have the behemoths, that would rule. Nautilus, with her twin 6 in. guns would be a hoot... probably die very fast and a lot, but a hoot none the less.
Mk 13 was the airdropped torp, the Mk 14 is the Sub launched variant, and for completeness, the Km15 was the surface launched (DD) variant, all three were apart of the same family of torpedoes, and shared many of the same problems, but the Mk 14, when first deployed, was the greatest turd, well not counting BuOrd and their response to the sub crews experiences
@@merafirewing6591 I think some of our Sub crews would have been happy with that compared to what they got, at least the MK 10s went boom when they needed to
I'd be happy if you could control the deck guns on the US and German subs as well (and give the Type IX it's 105mm deck gun). Play subs like a DD and you don't use the sonar ping much anyway as it gives your position away (especially against CVs now - their auto Anti-sub air attack is deadly). I also think the dumb torps should have had the longer range, the speed they have in real life and the hard hitting affect. This would remove the greatest annoyance most people have against subs at the moment - that painful ping every 20 seconds.
They should limited the type of ships in 1 battle, like more DDs and Subs but no CVs, or more Cruisers and BBs but no Subs. Make the matchmaking balance instead of shoving everything in. It's so frustrating trying to figure what's spotting you, what to dodge or just where to go because everything is all over the place. Oh yeah, submarine that's slow and has to attack you from close range make sense , not sniping you from 12km away
I have a policy to always downrate every sub player on my and the enemy team. People who play submarines are an even lower form of life than those who play CVs. I will never play a submarine.
I'm still waiting on the HMX X1 at tier X. That thing will outgun even some DD's. (It has the same amount but even larger guns than the Halland. 132mm guns to be exact) That is a sub I will pay for, not to mention it was actually well armored as well. Slap a heal on it to help its gimmick of popping and knife fighting things and I would definitely drop money on it. Heck I don't even want homing torps on it I'll take the 6 tubes regular ol dummy fire style.
This looks like the only sub I will actually want to purchase and play. The tech trees I'll FxP, and possibly use for the operation, but I really don't expect to have any fun in them, I much prefer surface combat in the other operations, but this looks like it might actually be a fun sub, which is an oxymoron.
over all looks really nice and fun, even though im not a submarine guy myself, more of a BB main if Im being honest. But the over all gameplay for this sub is interesting to say the least, definitely hoping for this with the British subs when they add them in( or if we are lucky war gaming allows the use of the deck gun in american and german subs). the only thing that really bothers me ( well not bother but definitely made me take a step back) was the absolute machine gun fire rate of the gun, its just, wow that thing is a tad to fast for a gun of its size. I mean I understand why they did this since the historical gun would only be able to shoot every 12 seconds, so only having one gun, well have yo compensate somehow I guess. Although 2 seconds seems a bit too fast for that 140mm gun, I say that a speed of around 3.5 ish seconds should suffice, making them fast shooters but not overly so. unless thats a lower caliber gun with a much faster fire rate, in which case just ignore everything I said.
This is how the subs should be been. None of that bend it like Beckham and underwater speedboat nonsense. This would've made them far less controversial. Surface speed is still too fast especially when it can outrun cruisers amd battleships
Fun to play set aside, gun fire rate way too fast for manual loading. Submerged speed should be slow otherwise the water flow noise across the sonar dome/array will blind the sub forcing it to periscope depth.
I have never, not ever, had any luck (i.e., something good on the first or even second draw) with random bundles during these events when they have ships I'm even mildly interested in. I look at this video then log in out of curiosity; not even interested in subs. There's the S189 waiting for a cool 1k dubs. I wish I could get a peek at the data. Because I wonder if the "randomness" on the crates for this event has been adjusted a bit to massage this release.
I d like to try it. I played subs on and off and found them boring. This looks like this might make sense and be fun. Perhaps I’ll get it from a wargambling crate as I’m not paying for something they’ll most likely change in 3 weeks. I do hope this is where the class is headed
I play wows legends on console and I really don't want pinging subs in the game. The use of a damage con to remove the ping is an ENORMOUS nerf to any ship with limited damage cons (Russian ships get 3 damage controls -ish) It would mean almost absolute death by fire or flooding if you used damage cons to remove pings and also death by torps if you didn't. I would not at all mind a sub like this one, but ANY pinging sub could wreck legends.
Well thats why they day they add subs in legends we should tell them that legends CVs are different and more balanced then PCs like only one per team and only two plane groups etc... so I think legends subs be different maybe unrecognizable
I wish there was a decent guide on how to play this thing... I really want to like this sub, but I struggle tremendously, it's already a good match if I manage to get 1 torp into a ship...
Talks about how its fun to play but not how its still NOT fun to play against. Subs just do not work and WG will shove them in game and piss the playerbase off saying that its what we want even when all the feedback says do not add subs.

Also there is the ancient Mk 10 submarine torpedoes.
@@merafirewing6591 I think some of our Sub crews would have been happy with that compared to what they got, at least the MK 10s went boom when they needed to
If I-56 is at T7, then when...and I do hope it is indeed a WHEN...the I-400 gets added, that will indeed be at T10.
Imagine A french line of Cruiser submarines with the Surcouf in it XD
I love the I-56. I never use the homing torps on it. The dumb fire torps are just too good.
over all looks really nice and fun, even though im not a submarine guy myself, more of a BB main if Im being honest.
Oh you will really like Dutch and French subs with trainable torps and mine laying subs...yes, mines...we need them.
I do love this sub, it's a good cat/mouse game. I have min set up for fast dive time refill. and reload speed. :)
Submarine rework when? We need WeeGee to shift the rest of the subs' gameplay to be more in line with this.
This is how the subs should be been. None of that bend it like Beckham and underwater speedboat nonsense. This would've made them far less controversial. Surface speed is still too fast especially when it can outrun cruisers amd battleships
Got this on 15th go, its so much fun. catches alot of people out, just dont get boxed in!!
I fired my torps same as dd. No pinging or else detected asap like magic. And getting bombarded by planes
I mean, it sounds like a DD with crappier gun, low range torps and what functionally is unlimited smoke screens. Ok, I guess?
Obligatory: "You were meant to destroy the dark side, not join it!"
"Bring balance to the mm, not leave it in darkness!"
Solves nothing. No submarines, please.
For the love of God wargaming, add the M-class
Fun to play set aside, gun fire rate way too fast for manual loading. Submerged speed should be slow otherwise the water flow noise across the sonar dome/array will blind the sub forcing it to periscope depth.
I actually enjoy facing off against I-56. I still hate subs with a burning passion...but this one requires true skill.
Nope, Not playing subs at all.
Another line I'll have to free xp just for collection.
Me and the boys waiting for Surcof
The sub problem is that they exist in fandoms
only the european torps will be going faster than 77 knots, that is not slow for a torp at tier 8, at all
i rly liked this sub
Surcouf would be very fun
@@doomguy.23frommars60 or something close to Silent Hunter style gameplay?
I wish there was a decent guide on how to play this thing... I really want to like this sub, but I struggle tremendously, it's already a good match if I manage to get 1 torp into a ship...
if a submarine started shooting at me, yes I would be less upset than I am with their other iterations lol
What would you put on your Georgia commander
Actually I got this ship from a budle. I like idea of this sub. Any build suggestion?
So it’s okay to nerf subs because you don’t like them but buff the hell out of CV’s to keep you playing rhem
Talks about how its fun to play but not how its still NOT fun to play against. Subs just do not work and WG will shove them in game and piss the playerbase off saying that its what we want even when all the feedback says do not add subs.
I might just get one of these... 🤔
