- IT IS FINALLY HERE! The 1/12 budget racer we have all been waiting for! How is it? How does it compare to the 1/14? The LC12b1? The new WLTOYS? Is it any good at carpet racing? Is it fast? In this video we dip our toes into what comes with this buggy, we test the speed capabilities and we see how it handles our local carpet track with some minor adjustments. This definitely isn't the last time you'll see the AM-X12 on the channel.

That's pretty sweet. And it seems like Rlaarlo really listens to their custys. They are serious about getting in on the rc action. And many people said they are waiting for 1/10 versions but I'm not sure that's what they wanna do, which is totally cool. They have a goal and they are doing great. Thanks for the vids
Thanks for the comment! They definitely listen to us! And they have plans on releasing a 1/10 within the next few months. They are trying to make waves and present themselves as a hobby grade company with high quality product. Definitely leaving WLToys in the dust!

could you let me know what the wheelbase measurement is? ive been looking for a car to mount old vintage oval bodies on and im sure alot of the bodies are around 10-and a half or so. but amazing video and info on this. good job great car! thank you.
I got my AM-X12 and it is a great build for $150. Mine was missing a shock mount spacer so they didn't QC it that well. So after noticing that, I inspected it some more. Looking at the front sway bar fitment, I noticed it touches the front driveshafts when the suspension is compressed. Other than that, it runs good and will run 3S soon.
I have heard a few QC issues but as to be expected from a new car. They have been good rectifying issues on Facebook if you’re part of the groups. We have been trying to tune ours for carpet racing

I just got my production version and am disappointed at the weight distribution aside from steering binding issue. I don't have track to test, could you remove the front diff and turn it into a 2WD. Try it on the track again. In theory, it should run and jump a lot better.

The only real upgrade I would do is replace that puny 3200kv motor with something more power but still in the same dimensions as the original motor.
I have the 1/14 and 1/12 scale of these buggies too... They are definitely not bad racers out of the box... the upgrades do make a world of difference... my son and I run them on 2S and 3s.... they boogie.. already broke afew .. but thats why I get the 2 or 3 yr warranty from amazon.... 😂😂😂😂 let er rip tater chip

Good catch! The pre production models were sent out with metal ESC casings and it shorted my electronics on a big jump. Production models will have plastic EAC casings. I’m going to do a follow up video with a different rx/TX soon. Thanks for watch!

I'm very interested in this buggy. I really enjoyed your video, and I can't tell you how refreshing it was to hear someone call it what it is...a racer's choice. Every other review I've seen is some tool trying to bash the crap outta it at a skatepark or construction site, complaining it's not durable, not good for bashing

The major.issue I have with the 1/14 scale purple one is the shocks are always leaking. I opened them up checked everything but still the case
agreed. I am guessing it has to do with the seals or being overfilled.

Just bought one!!! I was gonna get the losi mini B but this being only 40mm wider on the WB and brushless motor and carbon fiber etc. I could resist. Especially at this price point. Does it come with the droop screws you mentioned?
Yes it comes with droop screws and the aluminum shock tower which is a plus. Replacement parts are readily available also

I know ppl are seeing this buggy for $250 now, DO NOT pay 250 for this car, i did some shopping around and if your searching online you will see 250 all over the place, keep looking bc there are places selling them for 139 dollars and some change, they just dont pop up right away on your browser

I beat mine alot between small curv jumps and and switching between dirt and asphalt and run it pretty hard and it takes the abuse really well .. i has a tie rod pop on me once but popped back in no problem but i run mine pretty hard and my only complaint is i dont have another battery to continue to have fun when the first ine dies

Great comparison and track running video. How are the CVDs on the Rlaarlo compared to LC racing? I have diff cups wearing out quickly on the LC racing which is a peeve. Are the differentials any good on the Rlaarlo? Presume they can hold different weight oils?
I need to check them compared to the LC CVD’s. I know the new ones are much thicker. The rlaarlo diffs are metal but they are not sealed so a thick grease is probably a better option over oils
@@413RC The other issue is the pins that go into the holes at the end of the CVDs to connect the wheel hexes always break on the LCracing. No issue of that happening on the Rlaarlo I presume as they dont use pins
Get a set of the LC sprung metal diff cups that they released a few months back. Those will be much more durable.
Do you happen to have dimensions for the 3s battery you have that fits good in your rig?

They say the driveshaft rubs against the battery on the RLAARLO AM-X12. Have they fixed that already?
hmmm not sure. If they haven't you can always modify it yourself. just need to tinker a bit

Are the driveshafts compatible between the 12th scale rlarrlo and wltoys 12th scale buggy?
The center driveshaft may not fit but the front and rear cvd/ dogbones will
BTW The cvds are Carbon Steel also known as Spring Steel. It's more durable and less likely to resist being permanently bent.
The carbon fiber parts, like the steering link, won't stretch or bend. It's not what carbon fiber does but it is possible for it to crack in a very hard crash.

It was $152 for one day before they caught their mistake of doubling up on sales... Unfortunately I didn't buy it, it was in my cart and the next day they fixed it. Now it's $187

i really like the graphics on their shells, but wow are they overpriced, I can get a phatbodies shell for the same price as the rlaarlo am-x12 shell
Yeah this car has some design flaws as well for carpet racing. more suited for outdoor bashing and dirt

How can this be real carbon fiber for $150? This is just plastic with a printed carbon fiber pattern. I got the metal chassis version on amazon for $160 a few weeks ago.

@413RC It's not real carbon fiber. It's just a pattern that looks like carbon fiber. Have you seen real carbon fiber? There's another video talking about it. He compared this to real carbon fiber. It's obviously fake.
