Fantastic model and build, but I do have one small observation. I might be wrong on this, but I think the red light goes on the port wing and the green on the starboard.
Wow… the best build I have ever seen. The Spitfire background with photos was excellent. Following with a presentation of your build was wonderful. Thank you for this.
That ssoo good. you done a brilliant job. on that kit. I love watching you add all the electrics, I have problems changing a plug fuse. and you still got your fingers. Well done Terry
having seen you build this from the start, and knowing how much work you've put into it, its no surprise its ended up being a really nice kit Terry, the phrase "working features" is becoming a bit of a catch phrase on my channel, so lights and motorised props is great to see! nicely done mate.
A film director once said that the worst thing that could happen to a horror movie is to hear the audience laugh. Well, the worst thing that can happen to a model is that after it is built and painted it looks like a toy. And if it is a monster that does not fit on the table then it makes you want to cry with the toy...
Thank you so much for your kind words, I really do appreciate it and it encourages me to build more and make more free content on RUclips that i hope you enjoy. What makes the Spitfire even more iconic is the truth behind the some of the myths. The butcher bird made mincemeat of the early Spits, only the advent of the MK9 changed that. Pilots of that era, undoubtedly the bravest of the brave.
Thank you so much for your kind words Peter. Much appreciated. Hope you and yours are well mate. Finished Tamiya R/C Mustang GT4 vid coming on Sunday (You will love it!)
Good day Terry. Beautiful indeed. That bird looks amazing, well done !!! Love that you went a step ahead and motorized this bird. However, I have to point out one thing I noticed that can be corrected easily. The Merlin engines turns the propeller to the right as seen from the cockpit. Your model is turning the prop to the left as seen from the cockpit. This can be easily solved by changing the polarity in the connector we see in behind the model with the red and black wires. Change it and the prop will be turning the right way, thus giving your bird the accuracy it needs. Other than that, great job and well done !!!!
Thankyou for pointing it out and already rectified :) . I cannot believed i missed that!!!!! Luckily i left the underside engine cowl removable (It hides a jumble of wires!) Also thank you so much for your kind words :)
THAT is amazing. I absolutely love this build of yours. Artistic licence excused regarding the startup haha. I once had a remote controlled excavator that you put cooking oil into, to get smoke coming out of the exhaust each time any motion was detected.. can't remember if it had revving sounds or not. Is this something you could implement in a future build, perhaps? Cool video.
Thankyou so much for your kind words. One of my earliest videos was a "how to" make your own smoke generator for scale models. So it is absolutely possible. The only problem with putting one into a 1/24 or 1/18 scale aircraft kit is space and the effect a spinning propeller would have. the wind generated would maybe make any smoke generated invisible. I have a 1/24 Hurricane build coming up in 2 months time, i may do some mad professing on that build :) Right now i have the Tamiya 1/10 scale RC Mstang to finish (vid coming sunday) and the 1/18 ME262 coming the Sunday after.
It was a big decision to be honest. I did it purely because i liked the look of them. But scared of comments like "not a proper Spitfire" or "you took away its most recognisable feature". But i still believe we build these for ourselves and if other people like it, they will vote with a sub and a thumbs up. If not there's always the thumbs down....and there's already a bunch of thumbs down on this build. It saddens me , but I'm a great believer in freedom of expression, beliefs, speech and choice.
I enjoy all of your build/reveal videos, Terry. Impressive work, great outcome. I agree with how you judge this kit. When considering the parameters of the restrictions to achieve a strict price point, 9/10 is how I score it. The overall shape is accurate and it should be because Airfix had the Paul H Monforton 'Spitfire Mk.IX & XVI Engineered', book for reference. It is the best 1/24 kit that can be enhanced and modified I have built. Corrections and improvements are acceptable and enjoyable to do as part of the hobby. I do not give a 10/10 for the rough outer surfaces my kits had that required careful sanding, No Joy in correcting for scale accuracy. The kit is not state of the art but if it were i would expect a three fold or higher increase in the price and a decrease of three for what I could afford.
Totally agree. I must bow to your superior knowledge on the technicallitys and great that you mentioned the sanding! It never occurred to me, ofcourse they would have been smooth! I will remember that for the next build. The stuka suffered the same problem, Airfix built in orange peel!! Thankyou as always SEMJW
@@littlehistory2392 The rough texture on the recent, 1/48 SR-71 Revell, Revell Germany kit is as bad or worse. That and other issues made the build experience less fun convinced me not to build another existing kit from them. The Airfix Mk.IX in comparison is a far superior model and a better value.
You're not being piccy at all William. It is a genuine error,. Also on the error list, thankfully pointed out by the community are that the prop span the wrong way and incredibly eagle eyed, that one of the tiny decals was the wrong way around! The Nav lights and the prop have now been rectified. The decal will stay as it is, as its clear coated.
Looks wonderful!! Except.... and I hate to say this, but the left wingtip light is supposed to be RED and the right wing tip light is Green. You got them backwards. Is the motor running backwards too, or just a video effect? Sounds great. Motor should be running anticlockwise (simple polarity swap?).
Geniune build errors!😁. The polarity switch on the the motor is corrected as is the incorrect colours for the Nav lights. The other error that gas been pointed out by the co,mmumity was an upside down decal, that will have to stay as she gas been clear coated...unless ofcourse my OCD kicks in.....oh god, i know its there now.......must fix must fix!!!🤣🤣🤣. Thank you so much for your kind words and comment 👍👍👍

@@littlehistory2392 Sorry, I didn't realise when I posted my note, that others had said the same and that you'd already acknowledged and corrected. It's so easy, with the near anonymity of this method of communication, to speak too soon, and even to slag off! On the subject of nav lights (as applied to modern civil aircraft, at least) the coloured lights should only be visible from straight forward, through an angle of about 110 degrees rearward, and the white tail light visible alone for the remaining rear part of the circle. The model looks fabulous, by the way, just hope I can make a decent job of my own.
Outstanding,
Fantastic model and build, but I do have one small observation. I might be wrong on this, but I think the red light goes on the port wing and the green on the starboard.
I just did a mental "Noooooooo ooo o oooo" You are quite correct! I have cocked up 😄and well spotted sir! I will fix it 👍👍👍
As on ships.
Thanks for sharing. Beautiful kit, well done. The lighting and sound are fantastic!
To be honest, i am a bit overwhelmed with all the kind words. Thank you so, so much.

Thankyou so much for your kind words Eric, it makes the 60 hour+ of build time, script , intro animation and editing all the more worthwhile😆👍👍👍
An excellent video. I can hear the pride and satisfaction woven through your video dialogue. Thanks for posting.

"Working features" hehe :) I'm actually surprised no one does aftermarket electronics packs for the major releases. Thankyou mate
Love the lights, especially the cockpit ones. Lovely job.
Thankyou so much. Overwhelmed with all the positive comments
A fantastic build and modifications. Looks just amazing. Nice one Terry.

Fabulous build, with perfectly restrained weathering to finish off.
Spot on.👍
Thank you so much for your kind words. It really does encourage me keep going on RUclips.
@littlehistory2392 You're welcome. Please do continue. Your modelling skills need to be seen by others.

Oh WOW another spitfire - I'm so excited - this seems to be the only thing Airfix can do.
Sarcasm! 😅 Just like the Spitfire, a very British thing 👍
Very Nice !!
Thank you! Cheers! Hi Pete, hope your good mate :)

Yeah I agree not being an aircraft builder but still a practicing modeller , this kit turned out brilliantly satisfying I'd say.
