Undertaker is like the Ghost of Wrestlemania Past. He's the great equalizer, the arbiter of fate, the defender of tradition. He can just materialize out of nowhere with his supernatural powers to even the odds, right the wrongs, or restore the balance with a single chokeslam when it's needed the most.
While it would've been great to hear the glass break and see Rock comically oversell a Stunner from his biggest rival one last time, Taker's appearance still delivered the nostalgia goosebumps.

Undertaker was the link to the eras gone by, Hogan era, post hogan era, Austin/Rock era, Cena era, Reigns era. The Undertaker saw and competed in them all and he helped usher in the new era as the conscience of WWE. The greatest superstar of them all.

There's a reason why rock kept screaming I'm the final boss here and then taker showed up.

The only thing that would have made it better would have been if stone cold took the Undertaker spot. It was obviously meant to be that way, and undertaker is essentially a retcon (and as good of one as it could have been). I was hoping it would play out like when Mankind won due to stone cold at the end. That pop was insane. Something similar would have been a great call back to the night that WWF surpassed WCW in the ratings.

I have to agree with the Miz who said that the Undertaker as former lockerroom leader and head of the Court has been the right choice to end the cheating ways of Roman and Rock. Yes, because of the history between Rock and Austin it would have been nice, but the Attitude Era has already been presented by The Rock, if you see Taker, Rock, Cena, Reigns as the old (McMahon) Era faces, and Rhodes as the new (Tripple H) Era face.
And i must say that a Hogan involvment would have made much less sense then anything else. Yes he is beside Flair one of the Faces of Wrestling in the 80s and 90s, but why would he help Cody? What would Hogan add to the story? And just showing him in the audience wouldn`t do him and his career any justice.

Taker made more sense than Austin. Why?? Because if you pay close attention.....it was done in succession. Each guy put over the Legend that came right before him, and the era that came before him. Starting with Roman taking Cena's AA. Austin and Rock are really from the same era in terms of WWE. Taker made sense because he represented a WWE era BEFORE the Rock. The New Generation, and even the Golden era. Austin showing up would have been the same era as Rock. So even though people WANTED to see Austin(i get it), it was still correctly done, and was the right way to do it. There were basically 3 or 4 long term story-lines playing out within the same match. It then worked backwards with Cody, representing the newest era, being handed the torch by Reigns. It was beautifully done.

I feel like Taker worked out best in the end. This was supposed to be Wrestlemania XL, the biggest of all time. And for once...nobody was talking about the undertaker...He's retired, in the hall of fame, and doing his podcast, dont think many people expected him to appear at all... And it lead to one of the best run ins ive ever seen in my entire life just based on who it was and how nobody expected it, but it made all the sense in the world.

The dame thing that people complaina bout the WCW relying on their aged our talent. But somehow its different when the WWE does it.

That’s because in WCW they were the top guys and champions. Not at all the same thing. It’s different when WWE does it because Taker didn’t finger poke Rock. WCW had no idea how to finish a story

This has always been the case. Orton/Undertaker did the same angles that Warrior/Hogan got lambasted for in WCW. WWE did TNA angles and now it's okay. Not to mention how now having an indy jobber roster isn't embarrassing after NXT. Pure double standards from the WWF marks that infest wrestling.
Remember, when WCW died HALF of the total wrestling fans stopped watching.

Couple options to explain Takers appearance:
Roman and Lesnar both defeated Taker at Mania. (Lesnar obviously wasn’t showing)
Another option is Roman beat Bray Wyatt for the title to start his reign. Taker gave Wyatt his blessing last time he appeared on raw. So this could have been a fiend/Bray Wyatt spot in a perfect world.
Both are a bit of stretch really but you could stretch both if ya needed to fit taker into that slot.

Undertaker literally has been feuding with that entire family for 30 years. It is literally long term storytelling. Roman is one of two to defeat him at mania. Undertaker is synonymous with the event. It only stands to reason that in the course of match that one of the participants must win and is getting cheated that the mythical figure returns to inflict revenge on Roman.

I heard a rumor that was Brock's spot and thats why they did the whole Brock Cody thing last year but with the lawsuits and his name being brought up that it didnt happen.
I'm more inclined to believe the Stone Cold theory from that Trailer frame up spot from The Rock's beatdown on Cody you mentioned.

Listen I’m perfectly happy Taker came…Taker is basically the actual Final Boss of Wrestlemania so it’s just fine. It wouldn’t be the same if you didn’t hear that gong go off one way or another.
The way Conrad is talking sounds like Taker is a newbie..like that man held it down at Wrestlemania for years.. if not Stone Cold, Taker was fine in that spot.
Pancho 3:16 says Stone Cold is going to sit this one out and watch from home lol 😂
For me in a way I could feel what Cody is feeling because having both my parents gone at 47…I had a lot new moments early on I wish my mom could have been there for…I was pregnant with my first child when she passed…laid her to rest and had my son a week later..I had to deal with being a new mom and somewhat grieve but I needed to take care of all her estate stuff which took me two years…at the end of it I felt complete and something I that I know she would wanted to be handled with care…so in a way I feel all of Cody’s real emotions with him wanted to achieve a moment in honor of his dad…I teared up…It’s a wholesome moment I think touched everyone… I don’t know what his title run will be like but I’m all in for it.
